Our wedding bands are homemade. I taight my wife how to forge jewlery and she surprised me at the wedding with a custom ring. The only modifications I've done were cleaning the inside and sizing it so I could wear it properly

Would much rather have a sparkly thing made in a lab than something which will start to go yellow within a couple of years. Honestly, a ring isn't even important at all. As long as I have a good, honest, and reliable husband, I'd be happy. But then again, I'm not the most sentimental person.
Another person who is annoyed by the price of ethical diamonds and so makes other people feel bad for valuing them highly. Either buy them or don't but evidently most people prefer the look of diamonds in a ring to sand and mud.

@HommeFatalTaimen - Several years ago, I was in a thrift store and found a really cool binder (to hold writing paper), made from wood, with leaves carved in it. My wife absolutely loves leaves. Most of our home decorations have leaves on them. It didn’t come with any paper, and the paper was a really odd size. I used my laser cutter to cut a stack of paper for it, so that my wife can use it as a journal. It wasn’t until after I gave it to her, that I discovered what this ‘book’ really was. It was a guestbook, from a funeral home. 💀 My wife hasn’t figured it out, and I’m not going to tell her. (She really loves it, and I don’t want to ruin the gift.) Besides, it was one of those ‘just because’ gifts, anyway, so even if she does figure it out, she won’t be too freaked out. 😂👍

You clearly have no idea what your talking about. Diamonds are extremely common these days. They are made in labs and can hardly be differentiate from the "real" ones. Bc they are real diamonds.
Tbh most are actually lab grown nobody you know is wearing blood diamonds, now quartz in your phone that's a different story

My dad got married to my step mum 3 months before he passed away of cancer. My dad was a remarkable man and always my hero. My step mum is who I consider my real mum. My dad was a talented fabricator and welder, while he was still sick with cancer and very weak. He spent a night in the shed making his own wedding band. I was made completely from titanium welding rod and he welded in a way to give a Damascus look. That is the most special and sentimental ring I've ever seen. A year after he passed away, my step mum said she wanted me to keep the ring. I politely declined, the ring was I sign of their love and was one of the last things he built. I know she's going to cherish it forever.
I hope you can one day carry it yourself and pass it down to your own kids :)
