My grandpa was a mechanic in the airforce and he had conversations with engineers about how some designs are impossible to service as long as 50 or 60 years ago. Either way, calling it a wire is just as incorrect as calling it a chain. Rope or Sling would both be much more appropriate. I’m 90% sure they launched the car at the trebuchet but I do believe the second scene was dropped from a helicopter or crane.
Halfway Anna becomes so obviously 3D, right around the point where you would be wondering to yourself, "shouldn't this thing I've hit the ground by now?"
@gareth kalum well like I said, I think they launched an actual car but didn't get the air time needed for some of those shots, thus the theory that they launched an inflatable as well just to make it look good.
@Erik Knepfler I see no reason they didn't release a car from a trebuchet. The obvious answer for the switch is because it's hard to aim a trebuchet. It's easy to pull a crane over the top of a target.
@Nate KK7 ••-• ••• -•-• watching again - yaknow, I think they did both. The shots where the car is REALLY flying has to be an inflatable. But other shots with the cam on the car, one of the launches itself, I think those used a real car. The wheels turning and shocks reaction seem authentic. The drop at the end, yet another real car, definitely crane though because straight down. But - that REALLY wide shot where it's SUPER high and FLYING - I don't think that could be a real car, that treb couldn't launch it that far, which also helps explain why the final shot is a crane drop.
@Erik Knepfler it’s not that hard to launch a car with a trebuchet although it was most likely stripped of virtually all the interior nonvisible parts to make it lighter. It’s been done on more than one occasion.

@QueenPele this is just untrue. While the second amendment was intended to allow citizens to carry the same weapons as military, that hasn't stopped your politicians for creating legislation that bans weapons such as automatic rifles produced after 1986. That bill was introduced by Regan.

Funny oart is, minus hitting the house, I've done that. Got a few mates that are also into siege engines, and we have tested them with demolition derby "survivors " more than a few times over the years. So far, aside from automotive carnage, we've only taken out a.garden shed by accident. Also.use ours to launch gourds at derelict vehicles on the back 40. And. One prosthetic leg. My old worn out one. After recovery, the socket became a thermos holder in my deer blind. Nice to see blokes a ross the pond, testing ballistic theory.

reminds me of that old Discount Tire Co commercial from the late 70s where the old lady returns her tire by throwing it through the businesses front plate glass window. They stopped airing it for a decade or two because people were actually returning tires that's same way and found not liable in court cuz the commercial told them to return tires that way.
