  • Here’s the list. Which one do you want to work on next? 1. When you set your alarm before bed, put it on the other side of the bedroom. 2. Add one personal item to your work to-do list each day. 3. Keep a “Praise” folder in your email inbox. 4. Carry a water bottle with you everywhere you go. 5. Don’t go to sleep angry at the people you care about. 6. Invest in quality, non-processed, organic food. 7. Limit the junk food you bring into your house. 8. Leave your phone on silent and upside down at all times. 9. Write out a physical to-do list before you go to bed. 10. Take at least ten minutes each day to be still.

  • Don't only put your phone upside down on silent! Put it out of the way! One of my colleagues told me to put my phone behind my laptop screen while I work, and that's one of the best pieces of advice I've heard

    • it can even apply to roommates, parents, etc. My family and I (when I was living with them) always did that. If we were fighting in the evening we would say we love each other and say we're sorry and then the next day would try to resolve the issues.

  • No offense, but animal products cannot be considered healthy, organic/grass-fed as well.

  • The doing nothing tip sounds so weird and opposite from the hustle culture that’s ok the internet but it’s something that I did the other day and it felt amazing. Especially if you’re listening to cinematic music. I usually sit still and do nothing after I get done journaling and this works so well because after I empty my mind of the pages of my journal when I sit still and live in the present moment it feels so peaceful.

  • Grass fed and cage free is a lie. It’s a marketing ploy designed to make the consumer feel better about eating disease ridden bodies. Forks over knives, what the health, game changers, land of hope and glory - all amazing documentaries to educate you further on this. First 3 on Netflix, last one is free on CS-tv and made me go plant based within the first 11 mins.

  • A couple of months back, Matt had a leather case and screen protector on his iPhone. Is there a reason he took that off? Did it have to do with not fitting in the “minimalism” lifestyle?

  • I’m sorry and this is not meant to come across harsh.... but “grass fed” and “cage free” meat are such BS terms. Definitely doesn’t make meat any better of an option than a plant-based option. Please do some research and dive into those terms.

  • I appreciate the genuine recommendation for quality food. Investing in drinking clean, mineral water and eating organic pasture raised/grass fed/wildcaught foods has made a real difference in my health. It’s twice as expensive, but I know the animals were raised humanely on a farm eating quality foods and frolicking in the sunshine AND it tastes so much better and I feel so much better. My thyroid is very sensitive to halogens in the water supply, and I was able to heal hypothyroidism with quality water and seafood/fish after being a vegetarian for 10 years. When you can afford the quality option, slowly start integrating those options into your budget and diet wherever possible. An investment in local farmers and your health is nearly priceless.

  • Hi Matt, Dietitian speaking here. The whole "you think you may be hungry but really you might be thirsty" theory is a myth. While it can help keep you full, it doesn't always satiate or keep you full. This is because you may actually just be hungry and need a little snack. PSA: snacks can be healthy

  • I've actually tried to become more of a morning person but sometimes it is definitely difficult. I've also tried to carry around a water bottle. I don't really drink anything besides water and maybe milk. My problem is that I don't drink enough of it. I just drink water but not enough of it. My phone becomes something that I have been most attached to lately. I think this is because I get no social interactions, even before the pandemic, and am constantly alone the majority of the time. I found it eases my depressed feelings because I am without a job or anything to fill the time. What has filled my life besides my phone has been cleaning. Cleaning is great. I've felt better in a clean space but because I live with family, the space doesn't stay clean. It's an endless cycle of misery.
