Avatar Pitch Meeting - Revisited!
čas přidán 20. 03. 2023
Step back into the pitch meeting and revisit the completely factual accurate conversation hat led to James Cameron's Avatar! Complete with commentary from Ryan George who is now several years older!

James Cameron’s Avatar took the world by storm in 2009, securing its spot as one of the highest grossing movies of all time. Isn’t it kind of weird then that it barely seems to have had any impact on pop culture? To find out why that is, let’s step inside the pitch meeting that led to the world of Pandora, the Na’vi, and a whooooole lot of thinly veiled racial stereotypes. What led to the decision to have giant blue kitty kats? Why don’t the multimillion dollar Avatars have ANY tracking capabilities? What’s up with the super generic villain? All these questions and more are answering in this pitch meeting! It’s super easy, barely an inconvenience!

Dude we’ve stuck with you through the years because of your originality and actual funny material. Take all the time you need. We’ll be here
Amen mam
Couldn't agree more
Completely agree
It's true, I get excited about new blockbusters just for the pitch meetings.
We? Sorry brotha. Gotta go water my plants. @temitopeadesiyan5873 yeh, def.
This was phenomenal, please do more of this.
"Do do"
It was like an honest honest pitch meeting trailer with director commentary. Gold.
Agreed
I just imagine that 2 years from now we'll be getting an "Avatar Pitch Meeting - Revisited - Revisited!" where you revisit the revisit and show us how much better you've gotten at drawing cats
Mate, that is ridiculous. It'll be at least 3 years before we get to that point!
Dude- the tail joke was BRILLIANCE - you put a light on something millions of people just took at face value. It was hilarious and also deep af!
Yeah I'm still processing that one 😂
I really like that you did this video because it's easy for someone to dismiss Pitch Meetings as "oh, he's just nitpicking/roasting movies," but that little bit on exposition makes it pretty clear that you very much understand narrative and screenwriting, and that's why Pitch Meetings work so well.
You should REALLY do a revisit of the Willy Wonka pitch meeting. Your riff about Grandpa Joe being the villain was absolutely hilarious.
I have rewatched that one so many times and that part is absolutely hilarious.
Ryan is getting really good at his CGI skill I thought his legs looked particularly good
😂😂
@Leonard Lan Nah. It was just a plotpoint so the movie can happen.
That chest hair is brilliantly CGed too! Oh wait, that's his real hair.
Ryan does NOT skip leg day. Ever.
yeah!
Oh, these revisit videos are tight! I hope you keep filming them because it seems super easy, barely an inconvenience.
Wow wow wow Wow
We will never abandon you Ryan take all the time you need . You are an absolute miracle!
This is sort of like a pitch meeting where you're pitching your older pitch meetings to your audience. I like it.
So, you have a Pitch Meeting for me?
This is a brilliant idea. It's like Blu-ray commentary that *doesn't* talk over stuff. More please!
You’re incredible and this body of work is tremendous! The creativity, intelligence and general hilarity is OUTSTANDING! Thank you for all this hard work! Your videos got me through a breast cancer diagnosis and treatment this past fall. At one point, I put the channel on for 6 hours, just watching and laughing. Lifting people’s spirits and making them laugh is one of the most important and valuable contributions. You are a treasure! And frankly, you deserve a break! Like a long vacation! Best to you! ❤️💕😃
It feels surreal to see Ryan talking directly to camera, its like he is paranormal SCP looking straight into my soul, props for 5 years of hard work
This was immensely entertaining- please keep making these
talking into the camera is tight
@Vox Veritas You got off easy. At least in your visual it was only a toothbrush in his mouth..... 🫤
My world was shattered when I realized he was actually a REAL person. I'm permanently damaged now. The shock to the system was just too great. I figure I have 24-30 hours left to live.
Oh man, I love this format. Great way to make a vid longer and get a look into your thought process when making these. I couldn't help but stick around the whole 10min and it honestly didn't feel long. Plz do this more!
This was really fun! I liked hearing your thoughts on your past work. Would definitely watch more of these! I also want to say that while it is clear in your older videos you're still figuring out the characters, they're still very funny!
You are legit my favorite comedy CS-tv channel. Your sense of humor is one I thought was strangely unique to me haha. Please don’t feel pressured to keep putting them out at a ridiculous pace. I’ll love them when they come. Thank you for all of your work and making me laugh so much 😂❤
Ok but I'd literally watch hours of bts for Pitch Meetings, especially in this format. Super stoked for this to continue.
I freaking loved this video!! Pitch meetings and the first guy to "whatever" are two of my favorite series on CS-tv. I'm happy you're taking your mental health and well being seriously. Being a one man show must be pretty stressful sometimes and yet you've managed to bang out consistently funny content non stop for five years. I would say you're seriously overdue for this break. Please take it easy and enjoy the rewards of your hard work. We all love and appreciate the humor you bring into our lives. I hope you know that! And we'll always be back whenever you do upload ❤️
I rewatch pitch meeting videos all the time so rewatching them with Ryan is a bonus
OMG - I'm the 666th like! My character arc is complete. Seriously tho, Ryan George is a fantastic movie critic. Love his style!
I literally have a playlist of videos that make me happy and at least half are Ryan George videos
I haven’t watched most of them in years, but seeing them again with commentary? Yeah, absolutely, sign me up.
I do too :D
@Quincy Trapp For Tenet I would expect a rewind.
I’ve always loved behind the scenes material more than the actual material and this is what this feels like. Please do more and even take more time analyzing the old video and telling stories about how you came up with certain ideas
I love this, I wouldn’t mind if the entire screen rant pitch meetings gets reuploaded here revisited
This is great! It's like a behind-the-scene where we get to know about your thought process behind making the pitch meeting. I definitely wouldn't mind you doing these when you are busy or there aren't interesting new movies to do pitch meetings for!
I love this. It’s really interesting to see the thought process behind the series.
Ryan you are amazing and we love you as well as producer guy and writer guy. All 3 of you deserve a lil time to yourselves.
This feels like a behind the scenes for pitch meeting and I love it
It literally is a behind the scenes for Pitch Meetings lol
@Project Mayhem oh wow wow wow wow...... wow.
He's the guy from the videos!
This is very, very entertaining to watch. Even more than watching the episodes themselves. Please doo doo more of these.
WE WANT MORE OF YOU AND YOUR CONTENT because you make so many people happy but slow down if you ever need it. There’s still some amazing artist out there and you’re one of them keep a level head and I understand that we’re on your side to the very end my dude.
This is awesome! Both a great way to get the older videos to the new channel and the revisit part is genius and welcome.
LOVING the behind the scenes! Rant all you want about making these, fun to hear how your brain works! Please do more videos like this.
What the hack, I didn't know Pitch Meeting has its own channel till this video!
Don't ever apologize for or regret these masterpieces. These are my favorite things to watch on CS-tv, thank you!
Totally agree!
@Quantum Foam completely agree.
A genius always thinks of how he could have done it better. Ryan is a smart man. George, not so much.
I love this revisited series! I'd love to see some of the old Star Wars Pitch Meetings reacted to.
I really liked this trip down memory lane! I hope you do more of them!
The plugging their ponytails into animals joke murdered me 😂
Honestly this was amazing! Breaking the video down like this was super helpful for those of us that want to break out into this kind of industry. (and no I'm not talking about other people making pitch meetings, just content in general.) My kids and I love your work Ryan!!!!
I'm loving this "revisited" concept. Hope you keep them up!
I love seeing 3 versions of Ryan in one video, please do more of these 🥰
Please do do more of these

I hadn't seen this particular Pitch Meeting, I've never even seen Avatar, and had no desire to. One of the things I love about your scripts is that you clearly understand story, structure, character, and all of the other things nobody in Hollywood seems to remember anymore, and the commentary section of this revisit shows that even more. In a way these are valuable educational tools as well as good entertainment. I direct a lot of dubbing and one direction I'm often giving the actors is: don't make this expository dialogue sound expository.
Dude I freaking loved this format, it’s good to just hear from you as a creator. More of this please, ever thought about covering other topics?
Love this and your overall success man. Congratulations! The reward for good work is more work :) You take that time off man, you've earned it!
Can we please give this man some respect? 5 years of weekly Pitch Meetings. The man is legend.
Pitch Meetings actually age very well, when you think of it
Ryan’s real personality is also very entertaining! I like this idea, and would like to hear more reflections like these
He reminds me a bit of wheezywaiter. They have the same kind of cadence.
But is it still his real personality or is it his presentation personality lol meta
I have been waiting on a Gremlins pitch meeting
Yeah! They would be great!
Thank you for what you do. You help me get through my depression and when I need a laugh.
I love behind the scene stuff, it's fun to see the process of things
Love you, man. You're funny and creative and have a very appealing screen presence. I've never seen a video of yours that I would consider a dud.
I actually love your candor in the early pitch meetings.
Absolutely love these. Keep them coming please!
Seriously, Ryan. You are one of the best parts of CS-tv. Thank you for doing what you do.
...for what you do do.
Yeah, you and YSAC, take care of your mental health!
I've only discovered Pitch Meeting in the last year or so, and I am really enjoying all the old back episodes.
Very cool, well deserved schedule change and I always appreciate a good peek behind-the-scenes. Win-win!
Thank you Ryan you’re awesome, keep doing what you enjoy at your own pace!
You truly make top tier content that's both hilarious and brilliant so I'm here for the long haul! Please take care of yourself first, your loved ones second, and your CS-tv channel third(ish). We're not going anywhere. 💖
Really enjoyed this and hope it's not too stressful to do these on your "off" weeks!
Ryan you are such a gem dude. I'm glad you're taking time if you need it. This job probably gets super old and annoying at times, but you're legitimately one of the funniest performers on this platform and I can't describe how much joy this channel and your personal one have brought me over the years. Stay awesome man.
All of this
It's insane how long we've been watching these videos. That's a lot of my time just kinda used up lol. It was well used
Well said. Ryan, you've provided hours of excellent entertainment. Do your thing bro. Take your time, live your life, and please keep making Pitch Meetings at your own pace.
Man, your videos are on point, intelligent and very funny. Take all the time you need to keep your great work, and kudos for taking care of yourself.
I'll be fully supportive of you taking time for your own health. Your videos are wonderful, and I appreciate what you've given us, and look forward to what you have in store for us.
"Dances with Smurfs" was a great one to revisit... and the Ryanverse deepens with yet another level of you talking about you talking to you. Super fun.
I only saw Avatar once in theaters upon its initial release and I specifically remember the love scene where they intertwined tales.
This was fun! As a long-time watcher, I've always wanted to see some bloopers. Also props for prioritizing mental health.
Dude, you could just go through every old pitch meeting video and narrate them and talk about your feelings about them now, and I would watch that happily. I was wondering how you were so superhuman as to keep this going for so long. I'm glad to know you're taking a bit of a break, and thinking about yourself, your mental health, and the longevity of this project. Thank you so much for communicating with us and for keeping us going.
Director's commentary 😄
Seriously, the amount of work and effort that goes into maintaining a high tempo of content being released has burned out many, many people, and I would much rather see someone back off for a bit rather than see them die slowly inside as they overwork themselves in order to hit arbitrary deadlines.
You haven’t aged a day bro. Also, this pitch meeting so on point. To be fair you’re going to be critical but on a brand new world, with new species and characters you have endless opportunities for engaging exposition that aren’t, video diary…that said it’s kind of how people interact now so Cameron saw that coming a mile away. He is such a visionary!
Please do more of this! I love seeing you as an actual real person. It's very cool I decided.
This is awesome! Been a fan of yours for years! Thanks for doing this! Sending love and thanks from Brazil.
Ok this is fantastic! It’s fascinating how your process evolved. You’re such a pleasure to watch & now I get the thinking behind it all. I appreciate all of the things !!
I really like this format! Didn't expect to but this was very fun. I hope you revisit the Twilight videos; those are the perfect ones to introduce new people to Pitch Meetings
This was actually as good as a normal pitch meeting in my opinion. Please do do more of these if it's super easy and barely an inconvenience for you. This is tight.
@Min(oob)cra(p)ft Hey shut up! So yeah I'd really like more of these revisits, Ryan!
@Jacob you mean: Wow wow wow ... Wow
Wow wow wow. Wow.
I agree with your opinion I decided.
@4amlibra why did it take so long for someone to comment this, that was the intention
I love this more laid back, casual rewatch & discussion format. I'm happy to sacrifice frequency of content for your sanity, especially if we get content like this that doesn't require significant effort on your part. Keep up the great work!
great content. it's cool to see your insight on the process of creating these
For the record I’ve never “forgotten” to subscribe but when a CS-tvr has asked in a funny enough way I’ve done it out of respect for making me laugh. Your outros almost always make me laugh and even your sponsored segments are usually funny enough I’ll watch them all the way through even if I have no interest in the product. 10/10
Love this idea. I have watched a lot of the pitch meetings multiple times so to have this behind the scenes version is fantastic
I'd definitely like to see more of this stuff, it's interesting
Please do this more often Ryan, I love your interaction to us, it's so surreal cus we often see you just doing sketch lol
In addition, I'd like to see a pitch meeting for this Pitch Meetings Re-Visited series
Great to have this inside look, would love to hear more about your script writing process. Good to hear you're easing up, take care of yourself. Also: Doo-Doo
You are my most favorite content creator. You give so much heart into your videos and you give joy and a creative view of stuff to everyone who watches your videos. Thank you and don't stop doing what you do ❤️
You're one of the funniest guys on CS-tv. Absolutely love the pitch Meetings and i really like thos New Format. Please keep it up 👍
This was awesome to see. I got to see my favorite actor Ryan talk about the two most iconic characters he's ever played, Ryan and Ryan.
My favourite, favourite comedy channel. Didn't realise he did all of it himself, technical stuff as well as the creative stuff (I assumed he had a couple of back-room assistants). Definitely should take it a bit easier if time pressure's becoming a problem.
I love this concept. One of the things that makes Pitch Meeting so entertaining is your insight into filmmaking, so sharing some of your insights into your own work is actually quite interesting.
Love this!! It's very cool to see how your style has evolved, and to see you reflecting on it! I'd love to see more of these, it's fascinating to see your input :)
As someone who just found this channel, I am fine with the new format, especially since I am more likely to have seen the older movies! 😁
Dude the fact you can even do one every 2 weeks still blows my mind. One per week was INSANITY. Take all the time you want. Good god man it's not like pitch meeting is the only content you do either.
Dude this is awesome! at this point i would be so soooo down with like a podcast with either all the Ryan George's or the produce and screenwriter guy
First of all let me just say that i think it's SUCH a good idea that you're taking more time on the pitch meetings, I've seen a lot of youtubers overextended themselves and let their work suffer for it as well as their personal health and it's never a good situation for anybody. I also like the idea of you giving some fresh thoughts at the end, i woule be interested to hear your thoughts on the JK Rowling stuff if you decide to revist the fantastic beasts/harry potter franchise.
I have to say, as a writer myself, I've been amazed at how long you've been able to keep it up. On the other hand, pitch meeting is the highlight of my week. Which may say more about my life than anything else. Good luck with your mental health.
It is _super easy_ for me to understand you: I write poetry as a hobby, as a way to analyse and criticize myself, while providing as much insight and wisdom I can (and hope to) gift. Being a computer scientist makes everything harder since time easily runs out at the end of the day. Despite all of this, I still keep the "lantern" lighted up, in order to both _be_ a light and search for meanings. You could do it as well, both as a way to express your emotions and understanding of the World (in all of its absurdities and blurry shades) and your principles and dreams! :D It's sadly likely that most of your writings will be forgotten, like mine, but _surely_ there is and there will be some writing that will have both value and meaning to someone, even if you won't know. But you will help. =) And it's likely that some of the most appreciated writings are those that "flows out naturally", no matter how _you_ will later judge them =) just .. _let it be_ =) I wish you all the best ^^
I can’t overstate how much I like this idea. I love the notion of revisiting these and getting a little bit of “less-meta” commentary straight from you.
Whatever and whenever you do your amazing work is always good, Love your stuff!
I predict Lang’s new character is actually going to wind up being a sympathetic character with a massive redemption arc.
Love you Ryan. I hope you’re doing well. Your content makes me laugh and I can’t wait for the future content.
I love this concept. And I love that you are taking time for yourself. You may not realize how much joy the silly little videos you make bring to us, but waiting a little longer between releases knowing that you aren't pushing yourself to be unhealthy is super easy, barely an inconvenience.
Haa, Good one bro 😅😅😅
Don't burn out Ryan, you do you - we ALL appreciate you enormously
We love this, keep doing them! Creator commentary is always great.
I appreciate you acknowledging your chest hair and "do-do". Also, I super appreciate you taking time for yourself. I love Pitch Meeting and accept in order to keep yourself sane and keep the engine, as it were, running, you gotta take time to recharge.
Your pitch meetings make me laugh! I have watched most of them, esp for movies that I've seen. I keep coming back because of the template/rhythm of them - there's always the point where the guy asks a question and the other guy says, "Nope, it was super easy, barely an inconvenience!" I laugh every time. So much of movies these days has a template, like where the producer will brush off the issue of "why does this character do that" and always won't care because there is money to be made. I especially like it when the Pitch Guy says, You need to get all the way off my back about that!" And the producer does because there's money to be made. "Because it makes the movie go!" is a typical answer. OMG, you do so many great things in these pitch meetings, and point out so many hilarious ways that movies get made "just because someone wanted it that way." :D
I love what you do, I don't generally like having things deconstructed as it breaks the illusion, but hey, you've never made a bad video, including this one, so I'll still be watching. Great that the videos keep coming, albeit less frequently. I'm always looking forward to the next one
This man must be protected at all costs he is a priceless treasure.
He's no Tom Grossi..... but he's alright. Lol, just kidding, they're both awesome.
I don't know how Ryan would feel about this, but I have trouble sleeping and the sure fired way for me to get to sleep is to watch his Pitch Meeting videos. Now don't get me wrong, I really enjoy them and I only use the ones I've seen to get to sleep. Keep going Ryan! First guy to make a Pitch Meeting video.
These are fantastic. Keep doing this!
Ryan, you have gifted us SO MANY literal LOLs, ROFLs and chuckles! Yours is one of the select few channels I Immediately click on as soon as I see a notification - instant positivity! SO grateful to you for every second of it! Up/down cycles and burnout (even from an occupation one loves) is Real. Pretty Please take all the time you need! Maybe even take a month or two off to completely unplug? Your audience loves you and wishes you the Best! We are happier with you taking a long vacation rather than keeping up, while actually going through a rough patch. We LOVE you, Ryan! We are GRATEFUL to you! And we CARE about you!
I thought it was fantastic, including how much time you spent on the joining tails thing: just right to make the point perfectly about it being abusive. your pacing and your voice were fine. Tis was about the point where I noticed Pitch Meeting, and it drew me in!
