I built 5 robots to beat the 5 most popular arcade games. If you want to unlock the magic of engineering in your life, go to Studio.com/Markrober (for teenagers and older) OR Crunchlabs.com/MarkRober (for teenagers and younger).
I started a company called CrunchLabs where we build a toy together and then I teach you all the juicy physics for how it works. So if you want to learn to think like an engineer and have really fun time doing it, check out the current promotion where you get 2 FREE boxes at crunchlabs.com
You should also go subscribe to the CrunchLabs CS-tv channel cause we’ve got some bangers in the pipeline- / crunchlabs
And if you want that backpack (minus the contraptions to win all the games), you can find it here- markrober.store/collections/b...

I worked at an arcade for about a year at 40 hours a week, and I personally never had to restock prizes in most of the games there. Thats how rare winning actually was.
Amazing! Mark Rober is one of the best youtuber that I look up to. 🙌

I miss when arcades and amusement halls were largely dominated by games of skill, where challenge was both an incentive to keep playing and a protection on return.
They are still there, you just have to know where to look.
I like how mark’s friends and family are helping him with some key things like that’s so nice of them!
He bribed them with snacks and milkshakes
The words “my backpack will defeat you” take on a new meaning 💀
For the PEZ trick, could you make it even better by making an extremely small cutout, thereby further reducing the amount of time the sensor is unbroken?
imagine if a random arcade worker looked into your bag, and thought it was some sort of gun lmao
Imagine going to the gym for years to be beat by a pez dispenser
And the fact that pez is Spanish for fish means you’re effectively getting beat by a Latin American fish dispenser
@@donnahash7572 actually, pez is german and is named after the first, middle, and last letters of the german word for peppermint. (Pfefferminz)

Can we just appreciate how intelligent Mark is to come up with half of this stuff?

For games like key master usually they set the payout to be about 50x to 100x what the items worth, but I don't think it can be any higher as there are laws around it

I must say, the air hockey backpack is genius. The other guy would never notice a backpack playing for you while you are doing something else.

Love ya work, Mark. Looking forward to getting my kid and engineer friend some build boxes for this Christmas ❤
Awesome vid. I loved the claw. Besides checking how strong the claw is grabbing, if no toys are loose follow up after someone frees a toy, play after the machines were just stocked, double toys can actually be easier than a single cause less wiggle room. Don’t go for watches/electronics, too heavy and slippery
The idea of walking into an arcade with multiple backpacks is hilarious to me.
I actually saw someone win one of those 'Cut The Rope' games once, though it was a different one that had one giant reward instead of a bunch of small ones.
Such a banger video Mark!

"Don't work hard, work smart" taken to the next level
I think it's excellent that you do courses like this so that people can learn, you will do very well if you continue like this
There’s something about having a huge wad of “physical” tickets that makes it more rewarding/satisfying than having them just loaded onto a card. At least with the card it’s more discreet though.
all fun and games until you have to wait 5 minutes for all 1000 tickets to come out.

Imagine trying this 30 years ago when cards didn't exist. You'd need a second backpack just to hold all the paper tickets!
More like 6 years ago
@@gradystanley5812 Definitely more than that. They may have been around but they even 10 years ago they were still mainly cards.
@@AlexWithAStar No, depends where you live. 10 years ago I'd never heard of an arcade with cards (and I still went to them then, being 9)
No Raspberry Pi 30 years ago. You'd have to use an Amiga 500.
In turkey all arcades still have paper tickets
I went to an arcade the day this came out! It was so useful! Thank you so much!
14:40 note, they probably increase the value of those games to achieve that. I wouldn't be surprised if those games are also lower maintenance as well. If engineering is playing a role in the design of the arcade as a whole.

The actual genius move was playing the plants vs zombies theme to keep us watching
mark, I want to be like you when I grow up! you're so cool!
My favorite part is that his pez dispenser contraption is so much more simple than his original one.
Yup. No "sunk cost fallacy" hindering the process, and a closer look at the assumptions for a better opportunity. Impressive improvement.
engineering at the best

And as he mentioned, the weight of the device has to be considered. Furthermore, I would presume he underestimated the effect of recoil taking a cut too.
Even that is way to complicated

Como brasileiro eu n desisto nunca, adorei😅😅😅
I’ve said my whole life “arcades are casinos for kids but with zero regulation”
you arent wrong
I worded it differently, and said "kids that spend too much time in arcades grow up to be casino addicts"
@@sethroberts2485 while true, I like OPs way of putting it. Puts the blame on the arcades and casinos for employing malicious techniques to keep you spending (and losing) money instead of putting blame on the addicts for falling into those very purposefully laid traps. Then again, I guess you aren't putting blame on anyone here, you're just pointing out something which may actually be entirely true.
In Alaska they are regulated and treated exactly like casinos. And D&B is a great example of if. All the games are just for tokens.
Or casinos are arcades for adults but with regulation

Would it been more efficient to have a rolling wheel for the basketball trick to trigger the sensor?
I'm proud that as a loner with nothing to do, I already knew all of the non electronic based cheats and about which machines have payout limits
Очень здорово у вас получается! А простому обывателю как можно будет научиться всему этому технобаху? Я бы с непременным упорством освоил и научил свою дочь таким улётный ништякам. I love how Mark Rober is basically a more wholesome version of Tony Stark, who uses his insane engineering powers to beat shady arcade owners and porch pirates, rather than alien invaders. But if the aliens ever show up, I can't wait to see how he will turn his warehouse into a Home Alone death trap.

I mean would you rather defend the world from aliens or just win a bunch of arcade games
