  • To be honest, I can go for years without using Twitter and be perfectly fine.. can't say the same about CS-tv..the only place I can find lots of useful videos

  • For me Twitter is useless. I can live my everyday life without it, even Facebook. My stress level literally dropped from not using those socially engineered apps. It's good for your mental health.

    • CS-tv isn't any different

    • Im not Twitter or facebook lol

    • Good for you!

    • @Emmy Wlkr yeah it was Facebook incorporation before, now it's Meta

    • @Rajani Bharatiya And it's actually technically owned by Meta which I think is the new company name or something controlling Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.

  • As someone who completely left all Social Media, only CS-tv is the one I still can't let go. And that says a lot. I'm sure many people who, like me doesn't find any value in these other platforms anymore can say the same.

    • CS-tv is almost required sadly, unless you are one of few who does best with text tutorials instead of being shown in video (which are all on YT) Personally its just been discord, telegram and youtube

    • CS-tv isn't social at all

    • *That's not even a fair comparison. CS-tv is a video platform. The other platforms aren't even the same that offer video streaming, so it's kind of a no-brainer why CS-tv was singled out as the only platform you remained with. It's like calling TV or Netflix social media.*

    • It's kinda funny people who addicted to YT trying to say it's not a social media. If it isn't a social media, then that would be Musk's first reply to that tweet.

    • On social media to expose all colonial stuff

  • Marques is so level headed and well spoken. I still can’t wrap my head around how he made this without badmouthing Elon while still criticizing the take over and providing good feedback for the platform.

    • "He’s the best voice on the web." This is testimony as to just how bad off we are🙍‍♂

    • He’s the best voice on the web.

    • @JoeOvercoat You should have googled the word delusional. You don't even know what it means.

    • @Rick the Swift Your post is delusional.

    • @Jaqen Social media influencers are pretty much just journalists...and many ARE educated in some way on how to communicate professionally online. Hence MBs skills at speaking the way he does. he knows how to say things without pissing ppl off.

  • I’m honestly stuck between considering this video the best job interview ever or the cheapest best consultancy service Elon could ever have .

    • @lobopix bc elon doesn't know how to run a business properly

    • @Trey sounds like a toxic relationship actually

    • @hatifnat13 Ah but you’re missing the biggest audience on Twitter of all. The corn. An entire field of it.

    • @Tariq Mohammed Guessing if he plays his cards right he'll get one heck of a job there.........

    • @Dylan McKeithen He does......

  • My favorite thing about CS-tv is the fact that it has taught us to realize that there are self-made experts, and that's ok. Someone like MKBHD isn't a college professor, or a traditional celebrity, he hasn't written textbooks, but we alllllll know he is right, let's hope they listen.

  • Tech influencers like Twitter WAY more than regular people.

    • @vn01208503 He literally said isn’t *as* toxic not isn’t toxic… Edit: lol I used wrong emoji 🤦‍♀️

    • I don't like regular people either.

    • Facts

    • Not if Apple and /or the EU pull it.

    • 😂 nerd

  • Someone already said in their comments something like “this is the best advice Elon Musk will get about Twitter, and it’s F**king Free.” After watching, I agree. My own two cents is: There are millions of us who’ve never been on Twitter because we consider it a waste of time. Lots of busy middle-aged people and LOTS of young people. In fact, as the Mom of 3 Gen Z’s I can tell you that none of them or their friends use it. Twitter is an old/crazy person thing to them and I have no ideas about how to fix that.

  • This video brought more clarity on this topic than the hundreds of articles and tweets I have read lately! Brilliant 👏🏼

  • I think that i can speak for many of us that it's now becoming clear why these changes have been happening so drastically. Considering Elon musk posted some huge tweets today, and will continue to do so by the looks of things.

  • This guy should be on an advisory board somewhere, excellent breakdowns, simplified explanation so easy to digest, excellent suggestions.

    • Yes, he’s the best voice on policies about tech and individuality and creativity. He’s a leader.

    • he's not coming from the perspective of an average user.. all of his advice and interpretation is from someone who sees these apps as their job/revenue avenues... all his suggestions evolve around twitter making him money for using it.. over 99% of users on these apps dont make a cent more specifically his opinions are from a mainstream content creator that doesnt use any foul language or controversial opinions, nothing dangerous or game changing just reporting on tech news.. youtube is far from "s tier" they go well out of their way to restrict and limit any content with language, controversy or even just history in them... creators wont post historical content on youtube because itll be flagged and demonetized.. clearly subs and donations arent enough for these creators as they wont upload any video they fear will be demonetized they try to rope you into a separate service to see those videos... likely just greed on their part but still the same outcome for the user.. not seeing informative historical information on factual stuff due to the fear of left win advertisers afraid some stay at home mom will be offended

    • Contact me for your reward☝

  • You are so good at what you do. If you weren’t your own revenue source, you could be a consultant for some of these social media companies.

  • I like this take a lot, but I think they need a LOT of revenue, and that means getting some fairly high percentage of current users to pay, but I don’t see the features that get them there…which is why I’ve been saying I think they’re eventually going to paywall the site. I don’t think it will work because of MKBHDs first law of the internet. 😅

    • @H. Nedel and just like that the Blu subscription service has been taken offline due to people impersonating people and companies saying random shit

    • @H. Nedel It's still a billion dollars a year, in interest. Just bad wording on my part, I didn't mean Musk took out $44 billion in loans, I meant the loans he took out to cover his $44 billion purchase of the platform. 89% of Twitter's revenue is from ads. Musk cut the number of employees by half, and has now lost I'd guess around 75% of advertisers. If you cut costs by 50%, and lose almost 75% of your revenue in doing so, what happens? You start desperately begging people to pay $8/month. Rofl. Great, Musk can cut the company down to 500 people, and no one will advertise on the platform. Know why WeChat can be successful with so few people? They don't need moderation teams. The Chinese Communist Party will tell them what they can allow on the platform. Or they just get banned from the entire Chinese internet itself, like Twitter. Which is currently banned in China, and is a market which Elon Musk will never be able to access. If China wants influence over Twitter itself, they can just start threatening Musk's gigafactory in Shanghai. That factory is 60% of Tesla's global production capability, and is their largest factory. What happens to Tesla as a company if the CCP nationalizes it and they lose 60% of their production overnight? As the CCP has already said in public statements, "Elon Musk has released his personality too much, and he believes too much in the US and West's 'freedom of speech'. He will be taught a lesson".

  • Thank you for giving an honest and insightful take on what twitter could improve or change instead of complaining about everything going wrong during this change in ownership. Actual quality content you put thought and effort into.

  • I've really tried to avoid Twitter. I really think taking in information in this little fun size bits is making people really bad at research. Your attention span takes a hit.

    • @Brennan Spiller Yes, I completely agree. My bad, I wasn't really trying to make it seem like MQBHD was promoting Twitter as a main, or even sole need source. It was just a thought because I notice how influential tweets can be, and sometimes it seems popularity trumps evidence based reporting. That being said, were not children. I don't want to knock twitter because it's not on them. And yes, no matter how I or anyone else feels about it, Twitter is that digital townsquare. I think CS-tv has become one too.

    • Contact me for your reward☝

    • i can't disagree but marques isn't saying it should be your only source of news, he's just saying it or something like it is important, it's the closest thing we have to a digital town square at this point, saying this as someone who doesn't have a twitter or facebook and has no bio or posts on his instagram

    • ⤴️ ⤴️ ⤴️ :::

  • The only use I have for Twitter is getting the attention of companies and influencers as it seems to be the only place they pay attention to what people say about them.

  • I don't feel like twitter even has the ability to grow unless it changes fundamentally what the platform is. At the moment it's basically social media for famous people. I don't know a single person in real life who actively tweets, or anybody who follows regular people and reads their tweets. The only people I know who do use twitter basically just follow a bunch of celebrities and they're never following their actual friends or interacting with them over Twitter - they use other platforms for that.

    • @Johnny Fedora i see.. thanks

    • @Tahisha Arvo, SBM doesn't care. He just wants everyone to know that HE has no use for it -- he's way too cool for that -- and he knows it even though he's had little experience3 with it. If you disagree, he'll just argue, repeat, argue, repeat, and so on. It seems he should be happy on FB, but yet, he comes onto CS-tv to argue with whom? Well-known folks who make videos. Celebrities. You see, SBM is full of 💩.

    • i follow friends and tweet out useful info i find.. celebrities are the minority of my time on there.. i'd say less than 1/4 of my time on it

    • @StreakyBaconMan, and yet, you keep talking to me. What is it about me that makes me so irresistible? "I don't feel like twitter even has the ability to grow unless it changes fundamentally what the platform is." Then WHO would it appeal to? You're arguing, in effect, for a whole new platform. How many social media companies have started up and failed? Won't they alienate their current active user base? Do you think Marques's suggestions are too small-potatoes? I mean, saying they just need to change everything -- that says nothing. I don't know why you're so wrapped around followers, or not having followers, or whatever. If Facebook serves YOUR purposes, then stay there. Trying to turn Twitter into that makes no sense. Facebook already exists, and if you're an old person, then that's where your friends will be. If you have other needs, to the extent that Twitter remains viable after the Musk sh*tsh*w, then go there. I'm pretty sure you don't really know what goes on there, given your friends-and-family-only-don't-wanna-talk-to-no-one needs. Remember what happened to MySpace? That is what will happen to Twitter if it's radically changed, as you suggest. Marques's suggestions as a means of monetization are not radical. They may be workable. Or not. But if Twitter can't make it given what it is and who it serves, it will go out of business. Alienating its base, and saddling the company with debt, will make it go out of business more quickly. That seems to be Musk's unspoken plan in his effort to set fire to $44 billion. But no, Streaky, we don't need another Facebook or similar.

  • I don't often comment on your videos but I've always appreciated how thoughtful you are in the videos you make and the changes you suggest

  • I watch youtube every day. Its educating, entertaining, and inspiring. This channel included. Twitter is the exact opposite of that. It's so negative that even people I agree with sound awful.

    • Anything you find on Twitter, you can find a better version on CS-tv lol

    • Contact me for your reward☝

    • The comments section though, no. And educating, no, most of the content here is entertainment, even this video is just entertainment.

    • @OfficialKairosMusic There are definitely benefits of using any social media but the point is that the pros don't weight out the cons for a lot of people, including myself.

  • Great video. I love it when people come up with solutions rather then complain.

  • I've never been on Twitter, and honestly, thanks to CS-tv I'll never have to be.

    • Well while you’re at go grab your chance in winning free giveaway wins on Super RC’s channel!🔥

    • One is really just the long form of the other...with viddy.

    • @Alfred MsungamaAnything important or relevant that’s on Twitter, makes it’s way to CS-tv. And normally pretty fast. Unless, the fbi is censoring it….

    • @Thephoenix Duh, obviously. But you can find out what's going on on Twitter via youtube or any social media

    • It's like comparing Netflix to Gmail. Two different platforms that offer completely different things?

  • Instagram is where the real Savagery takes place🙏🏽🤣

  • I used to watch this channel long before 16.8 million followers 😮 INCREDIBLE! Especially as an Black Man in the tech space. I’m watching and listening in amazement as if I’m watching my kids win a competition. This is beautiful! This guy is a tech genius.

    • @AJ lol

    • Speaking as a white working class Jewish man who grew up in poverty within an abusive household, I apologise for my whiteness and if it has offended any BIPOC’s BAME first peoples./s

    • @Sergio Missaglia it's as simple as this: MKBHD is black excellence personified, and when we see one of our own in the upper echelons and speaking from an incredibly influential and knowledgeable space, we feel proud. We don't have many. Let us celebrate him. 🥺

    • @Lo So Chill idk... But that kind of reasoning reminds me of "classism" and Marxism which are the most horrific thing ever made. But anyway, maybe it's me that I'm just brain wired to talk just about politics lol

    • @Sergio Missaglia noooo I’m not saying that lol. Im speaking on it from a business perspective.

  • I don't think Twitter should focus on video content and more creator tools, that's not the reason people use Twitter. It's is still primarily a text-based platform, for information and opinions. To this end, I think it would be helpful to have more tools to customize your timeline. My timeline is getting increasingly bloated by retweets, following people that reply too often to each other, self-promotion and advertisements. Giving the user more options when following a new user would be helpful, things like: "follow, but skip retweets", "mute all conversations between user X and user Y", "set limit to number of tweets shown by user X", "only show tweets of user X that get more than 10 likes", "skip tweets that have less than 10 characters", and so on.

    • Contact me for your reward☝

    • you are kind of right

    • @Cricketmane He is trying to make it into tiktok which just so happens to be eating into CS-tv's revenue streams as well. The issue is he would have to completly redo it and that will destroy the established user base and culture. He will then tie into all the crap no one wants basically making a crappier version of wechat/tiktok.

    • Very insightful thoughts. This will help twitter.

  • I think if your plan was to work hard to add features that make your service more useful to its most devoted users, probably a good first step would be to not immediately fire half the engineering talent who actually do the work that is required to create and maintain features. Then probably also don't follow that by imposing work conditions on the remaining engineers that will send the best of them - the ones with the most options to take their pick of jobs elsewhere - immediately running to find work at Facebook or LinkedIn or Snapchat etc etc. Just an idea.

    • The tweets like pearls on a strand are ridiculous. there’s really no character limit you just have to get to the next tweet. so yes.

    • Contact me for your reward☝

    • What I don't understand is why the system can't work on its own to begin with? It's like building a house, but having to constantly pay a builder every day to ensure it stays upright. I'd love to know why a platform needs so many staff to maintain it and what 'maintaining' actually means and does.

  • There are some issues with CS-tv for sure but there's a reason I keep coming back to this platform over and over again, the content and form is unmatchable

  • This video explains the fundamentals of a business platform localized to social media. It scares the hell out of me that someone would spend this much on a social media platform and not understand these economic principles.

  • Hi mate! This is one of the most concise and accurate evaluations of where things are at right now! I’m in the Ad industry, albeit as an audio production supplier, but this makes so much sense… and the other side of the older ad industry is only just working this out. Can’t wait to follow this over the next few years.

  • Many should take notes when they talk crap about Twitter and/or any other online service. Instead of just saying, “this sucks.” MB is actually giving solutions to what he sees as what could be upgraded or new features.

  • One week later, Elon buys MKBHD 😂

    • @AVATR Dang I’m sorry

    • 🤣🤣

    • @Liftoff Boom Tharis is mad, cry here???? Sell ads, need more video content ? can't read ?

    • Doesn't need to buy when Marques would simp for free.

  • I found difficult to find value using Twitter as a regular user. I rarely use it to track tech drops. I can count the times I use it to message friends.

    • Unless you want to worship celebs, Twitter doesn’t have much value I feel like. I can subscribe to creators directly on CS-tv, I can interact with friends on texting or Snapchat/instagram. Unless you like arguing with random people or stream of consciousness tweeting, but I feel like that’s a niche thing.

  • I appreciate your honest, level-headed take on the situation. I appreciate that you're approaching it from the perspective of a user and content creator who just wants to see the platform be better, pointing out its present flaws and even some of the potential strengths the new direction could go in. A lot of people have been blowing this whole situation way out of proportion (It's gone as far as people saying that non-subscribed users will essentially be shadowbanned and no one will see their tweets anymore. I'm not sure where that came from.) I'm not an Elon fanboy by any means, nor am I a huge fan of Twitter itself. But it's been a bit ridiculous seeing so much "doom and gloom" in a single week.

  • Thank you for this awesome video of your honest and thoughtful ideas & comparative analysis on how to make Twitter better. Especially regarding the subscription feature.

  • I actually only use Twitter when I'm trying to get hold of companies or services because they literally respond same day if not within 5mins unlike when you call or email them. Had a lot of things sorted out that way and even have folks call you to straight after. But for socialising it's usually linked to my Instagram or Facebook posts. I actually didn't realise that creators only get paid if people actually watch the ads and don't skip. If it's a short ad I'll let it run but some are so long that I always apologise to the creator (who can't hear me) as I skip 🙈

  • this model that Marques is pitching absolutely works. Discord Nitro has a boatload of subscribers who stick to the subscription because Nitro targets discord powerusers who use the platforms day in and day out.

  • Obviously, you're a content creator, and this was a very creator-centric video. But I feel the problem is that Twitter has never really been about content creation. As you said, the cool thing about it is the ability to reach out and interact with anyone, people you'd normally never have that chance with. If Twitter becomes about content creation, it'll becomea very different beast, which is what you said you didn't want.

    • @corail53 of course there is a need to make a twitter-like section. Because there are way more users and the actual twitter today is a shi show of verified bots and trolls. Facebook today has a way better moderation system.

    • It was fine in 2012. Allowing editing of tweets is the dumbest thing yet. So i can post "retweet if Muslims are human beings" get a thousand retweets then edit it to "retweet if Muslims are terrorists" and all of a sudden a thousand people have become right wing. Hilarious fun.

    • @Mr. Pipol Meta owns whatsapp and instagram. Zuck is making a ton of money off those and there is no need to make a twitter like section. He would get all his wealth back if he made the metaverse play as a totally seperate company and let facebook/whatsapp/insta get back to what they do best.

    • @Atlas What you are talking about is a social app not a social media app - the media side of things is all about the consumption of hot garbage content and Elon is trying to recoup costs of his stupid decsion - he has pissed off the biggest advertiser networks out there - so there goes revenue streams, if he tries to compete with onlyfans or tiktok he will most likely fail because those two are very much more established as the places for that specific content type. You can't monetize social interactions between peers so how the hell would he get any money.

  • Elon himself is Twitter’s biggest challenge.

  • This kind of video is exactly why we all respect MKBHD so much. The most unbiased, tellin-it-like-it-is tech CS-tvr out there. I hope Elon takes notices (I suspect he will).

    • He’s the man.

    • Elon doesn't strike me as someone who listens to other people, I think he's the "know-it-all" typa boss.

    • Elon's ego won't let him.

  • Twitter spaces has been amazing and revolutionary… really, folks are using it to organise and discuss revolution in their country! 😃 I personally use spaces very frequently now, been great to discuss tech news or geo politics with other people and often with people that really oppose you’re own views, and so far no one has gone crazy and start threatening each other thanks to the hosts for the spaces I’ve been on!

  • Breh, you’re a gem. Love these videos. Fingers crossed on Twitters future.

  • MKBHD would be an amazing hire as a product guy at any company but he needs a job like a hole in the head. 16 million followers & growing, no boss to answer to, doing what he loves, talking to some of the coolest people & making a great living at it.

  • That ending was strong. "Posting this 10 minute video on Twitter will cost me $8 a month, while posting this video on CS-tv will make me money"

  • Hi Marques - thanks for the fascinating social media run-through...but I'd love to hear more of your thoughts on LinkedIn as that's where my storytelling/creativity hangs out! In the meantime, enjoying how you edited this video which has now nudged me into getting MKBHD for my FCP work!

  • I think Twitter will become a massive platform in few years. Good video bro!

  • I love Twitter too MKBHD. It is incredibly unique, my most used social media platform after CS-tv, and as I look for alternatives to switch to I find myself listing 10s of cons or features/aspects that I would lose by leaving Twitter. It’s a shame.

    • Tried to use it, quit after 3 days and never understood why people would find it interesting. To many toxic people

  • I really like how you do a lot of comparisons and mention past things like: Vine and Periscope . It's like talking about these things with your friends, because you all remember stuff from the past and can make good comparisons. While still maintaining the clean look of a tech channel (which more often than not, don't mention older things, I guess to avoid eating up screentime or avoid alienating viewers). Idk, the media acts as if the past don't exist. Kinda like in the WWE when wrestlers come back with another name

  • The only problem I have with Twitter Blue is that you get a verified tick with it, which could easily allow anyone (including people posing as someone else, and spam/scam bots) to be verified, defying the purpose of the whole concept, and letting bad actors trick people into thinking a verified account is safe when it's actually not. I would have nothing against a Twitter subscription that gives you perks, and maybe even a different tick for supporting the platform, maybe even algorithm boost as long as it doesn't mean others get shadow-banned, but I just can't understand the verified tick part at all.

  • Great job on the video! Thanks for making it.

  • I remember when Twitter first started it was a way to connect to famous people, but as the years have gone by, i realized famous people don’t really have anything interesting to say, and their followers are mostly idolizing them.

    • @new&improvedD "You described Elon Musk" He literally became famous for his interraction and comments that were so scifi or controversial. What are you on about?

    • @new&improvedD musk is better than them

    • @TecnamTwin “just getting started”😂😂😂 can’t even bring full automation in cars, self driving? onyl a dream

    • @Odin Mcboden, it's an artifact of humans' tribal tendencies.

  • Great video Marques, wanted to throw my two cents in. I agree with the comments about the volume of negativity and misinformation that occurs on Twitter, but as a dedicated sports fan, people no longer go to TV channels to find out if someone signed a contract or got traded, they go to Twitter. Certain leagues have guys that are the go to source for specific league news and information, ESPN has three of them (Adam Schefter for the NFL, Adrian Wojnarowski for the NBA and Jeff Passan for MLB), and when those accounts post a major move, it gains significant and quick traction that soon after is discussed on TV and internet programming. As long as Twitter does not ruin the user experience for a sports fan, I'll use it, but moderate my usage because the app/website is still a cesspool of sad people too addicted to the internet.

  • I do not use twitter much but an idea that comes to mind is a customer analytics feature for businesses. Basically Advertisers are looking for customers so maybe a feature to help thoe advertisers find a specific audience of users who want your product. This would be beneficial for any business and even for advertisers being able to find specifically who their ads were meant for.

    • They need to create sections for art, music news etc with great profile managing tools, twitter does not have war with youtube at all, which marq totally missed. Twitter should compete with reddit and facebook, tbh facebook is trash.

    • Elon has a done a very good job of pissing off the biggest ad groups out there. I don't see them returning to be honest.

  • It feels like it has that outsized influence because self important media personalities that are on it report every tweet like it's the most important thing to ever happen.

  • I appreciate the bold move of sharing your thoughts in the topic 👌

  • I get everything I need on CS-tv. Entertainment, highlights, news, tutorials, information, motivation, even CS-tv music app slaps, I get interactions with people who share the same interest in some random niche interest I have. CS-tv is S tier. Hand down. Always has been.

  • Most mature and productive take on this topic yet!

    • This guy lol

    • @Matt Walsh is a GROOMER Elon hater detected

    • Elon will still probably block him and suspend his account 😂

  • You're saying what all of us are thinking, but in a calm and sensical way. Thanks. TLDR; the model of free use of your platform and a paid-premium service level works. Make sure to invest time in content-creator features for the paid option because that's who is buying the service.

    • It works on youtube because it offered perceived value. You don't get ads (you can get around this pretty easily for free) you also get some specific released content (which will be online free for you to view regardless anyway). Twitter offers nothing in terms of perceived value, will people really want to pay to read 240 characters? I would call them idiots if they do. Would people want to pay for creators (he is trying to make it so it will be like an only fans situation) well people would just use that site instead. Content creators stand a better chance of making money elsewhere than twitter.

  • Very good video. I think you hit all the points while remaining neutral.

  • You are a great communicator bro, if you do have other passions and interests and issues you wonder about, it would be cool to see that content. Has Elon called you yet? Because he should...

  • Love how MKBHD can cut through the noise and keep his takes on current tech trends level-headed and insightful

  • Thanks, this video made me think!💡 But hey, we all know that CS-tv and Twitter is very different from each other, as well as from the other social media platforms. That gives CS-tv and Twitter more room to “innovative” new business ideas. At least in the future!

  • Honestly, I don't want Twitter to become a creator platform, as you said there are already a bunch of other platforms for that. At its core, Twitter was built on the concept of being a (personal)news platform and I think this should continue. Trying to make Twitter something that it isn't, is going to cost Twitter greatly. Also, most normal people don't want to subscribe to another thing, especially since there are a lot of normal people who just use Twitter and not be an observer like on youtube. We just tweet shit. And with a P2W system even fewer people and especially friends won't see your tweets and comments.

    • @iNNoCeNttDReAMs And the way Elon has been going he has no idea how to monetize either. There is a reason why Dorsey stepped away from it so many years ago and that is because no one knew how to monetize it, snapchat had the same issue until they fixed their ad network, reddit still has this issue which is why they are hoping to eventually IPO so the founders can finally get paid. Having users does not equate to revenue and people are already burning out on subscriptions models. He wants to compete with the big dogs but that will basically ruin twitter - everyone who has started a "free speech" type social site always ends up in the same place eventually - censored content.

    • @Michał These sites have to be monetized otherwise they can't survive that is why you get ads. Influencers were basically like youtubers who got sponsored by companies to shill product - this happens on the big twitter accounts as well. Annoyingly as reddit proves you can be super popular as a site but be bad at monetizing it.

    • @iNNoCeNttDReAMs But, nobody asked or wanted Twitter to be more like CS-tv tho. Plus, you can't make a platform into something that, isn't what it's meant to be. Turning Twitter into a CS-tv type of platform is not what Twitter should be nor will it ever be. And, considering the clusterfk of a mess that Elon is making Twitter turn into. Elon shouod focus on the basic princiibles of what Twitter is and don't make it into a wechat like service.

    • @Tendaishe Chidakwa I agree with you. That's why I said if Elon wants to make money, he should create a new platform. Leave Twitter as it is today.

    • @@ReeceCentre . Will bots really disappear? Do they need to be verified? Remember the majority of Twitter users will still not subscribe due to affordability issues. Currently, are the benefits unlocked by subscribing worth the money for most people?

  • I like YT content. Certain channels attract certain kinds of people. It’s nice to watch videos and read comments from normal people who aren’t angry, don’t want to argue and are genuinely nice. A lot of twitter is complaining and arguing with a sprinkling of wit and humour.

  • Here are a couple of features I would pay for on twitter as a regular user: (1) Tree-View for threads with many responses. (2) Moderation for my threads (rearrange responses to my tweets manually) (3) Unlisted tweets (Accessible by knowing the url, but not public) (4) Multiple "Circles" (5) Individually allow/lock responses to certain tweets of a thread (so people only respond to the last tweet, for example) (6) Longer tweets As a content creator: (1) twitch and youtube integration: display that I am live on twitch or youtube, but on my twitter profile. (2) youtube integration: show my latest video on my profile.

  • Thats why i love ad blocker. No adds, ever across all my apps, and browsers.

  • The only reason I use Quitter is because a widget allows all my tweets to appear in my Discord community. 😂😂😂 I was censored and locked out of my account for 2 weeks on Twitter in 2014. I haven’t missed it even a little.

  • I'm sure Elon was taking notes while watching this video Well done Marques❤️

  • I don't think Twitter is a place for creators but for text and opinions. I don't want another feed full of pictures and videos, I want a place where we can exchange our opinions and grab information.

    • reddit, that’s where it comes in

    • trueee, there's really no reason to have "another" tiktok/ig/fb etc.

    • @Karthik Krishnan agree

    • When has Twitter EVER been a place of real discussion and debate? Putting lipstick on a donkey doesn't make it attractive...

  • Although I don't know when exactly you recorded this, and shit is breaking apart on Twitter by the day/hour...it's fair to say you're being quite diplomatic in your handling of their current situation.

  • I like the closure of this video , feels like a movie dialogue. You killed it Marques

  • "it's new money for something that's not new.." well said MKBHD!!

  • I believe his gamble is on curating more quality content by holding verified people accountable for what they say. And also leveling the playing field, since up to now users were verified arbitrarily.

  • i think twitter is great just the way it is. i dont want it to change😭😭 its unique💕

  • Michael Reeves went from being a sarcastic robot engineering youtuber to a politician that's amazing

    • I came to make the same comment

    • Chaotic braindead lmao Fucking love his stuff

    • What was the difference again?

    • Actually spit my tea when that pop up haha

    • Vote Reeves 2024!

  • Twitter will not succeed for creators, it's for celebrities, companies, channels and just viewers looking for some breaking news. I only go to Twitter, because it's easier to complain to a company, and getting everyone's attention, to interact with the celebrities, even though they most probably won't. But that's the whole beauty of twitter and that should not be taken away from twitter and no one else has replicated it as nicely as them.

  • We're gonna need a follow-up on this 1 month-ish later. There is so much going on with the train-wreck that is Twitter right now.

  • Idk, there are a few things holding CS-tv back from being truly S-tier and sadly they're things they've already done right in the past- video responses, public dislike counter, and the algorithm pushing up inorganic content that shouldn't show up on your feed. No matter how many times I dislike and immediately close a video, CS-tv keeps auto playing and recommending videos from big news networks to me. I hate those videos so much and it's extremely aggravating when I have to take my gloves off, pull my phone out of my pocket and search for something else to play when YT knows I don't want that stuff. I don't even think that stuff should be on CS-tv period. YT is supposed to be a platform for independent video enthusiasts to express their creativity in a way not possible before, not another place for the huge media companies that, already have their own platforms , to downrank and hide independent voices. Actually, all of my issues with CS-tv stem from their push to hide the independent creators while propping up and protecting the "mainstream" celebrities, politics, and media.

  • Had my iPad Pro 12.9 with A12Z for exactly 4 years now - which might be the longest I've had any Apple product for. Plan to keep using it for a couple more years. Still going strong, and I love using it every single time.

  • I used Twitter for maybe a year and I primarily used it to follow my favorite musicians but as someone who's tech savvy, especially in the early days of social media, I never got the appeal. The fact it's still relevant is funny to me.

  • All I know is based on the visions and goals he has shared in the last 5 years I see this venture as the best power play he could have done. He has all the bases covered and his enemies can't cancel him.

    • @TheBoatIRow For the first time I'm betting against him.

    • @TheBoatIRow Nope. He hasn’t given a single reason of why it will be better, just more promises. Tesla only survived because he kept pumping more money in to the gig, not so much because it was an amazing product. It continues to have many quality control issues and a lot of it’s self driving features have ended up killing people instead. I am not optimistic about his claims, he’s too neurotic

    • @AH No debate but you can't bet against him. Think about the value, wisdom and insight gained from this?

    • they said this about tesla too and other manufacturers have caught up, where’s full autopilot? still not here…empty promises and twitter will have the same fate

  • Twitter matte black - you can do threads for discussion - upload more than 4 pictures - actually see the original post when you click, instead of just the part where you were notified - more character limit ( this one is already coming i heard ) - make the letters more customizable -have dark mode

  • Advertisement vs Subscription is an interesting thought, even though not many people would want to pay for content but a platform can have just enough subs to succeed. A combo of subs and ads (30-70) might be the thing to go.

  • So fucking glad you arent just jumping on the cancel wagon, but actually seeing the value and potential in a situation! Thats what im here for, and thats why i will stay forever

    • @corail53 it's a good simple yet effective platform for short form text posts and it's been a hell of a tool for following events live

    • Why are you so invested in a social app.

  • This video illustrates my biggest problem with social media: over time the social aspect of the medium becomes less of a priority. The first step in his plan is monetization tools. Nothing related to the user experience.

    • @Carter Johnson Facebook, CS-tv and Twitter were founded in 2004, 2005 and 2006 respectively. I don't see any of those platforms going bankrupt any time soon considering how much emphasis society puts on these platforms.

    • @Dheal customer is king

    • @Dheal No that is the end goal. The first goal is to attract potentional customers.

  • Idea: What if "Twitter Blue" included services like "Later" (the service that actually lets you SCHEDULE uploads to MULTIPLE social media platforms) and so even if people still like other social media platforms more than Twitter, they would still upload (and schedule uploads) and TRACK THEIR STATISTICS using Twitter Blue...so it would kind of become a social media MANAGEMENT tool (I think content creators would love it)

  • What gets overlooked on Twitter is how it's kind of like society's metadata. Yes, the veracity of it differs by Tweeter but, overall, the real-time nature of the feed and its important place in the zeitgeist make it the place for what's going on right now. Twitter might consider leaning into that and encouraging the creation and monetization of content that makes that more real. Let people use Twitter to add color to what's happening in their part of the world in real-time. Then, identify high performers and feature their content as part of trending topics - not in a stream but in an alternative format that better supports video. Make Twitter the at-my -fingertips news/information source of what matters to me right now ... and help people become THE person (or one of the people) for doing that wherever they are.

  • As someone who had 90k Twitter followers in 3yrs..I never thought I’d stop being active. It’s not the same but I made a lot of money off Twitter.

  • Where would we be in this world without MKBHD 🎉 love your insight

    • The exact same place as we are now.

  • As for me, I'm going to ride this collapse to the very bitter end while enjoying the crazy show.

  • I really like and appreciate all these opinion pieces you have been doing. I started watching initially for reviews, but I come back for these specifically. Thx and keep it up bro!

  • I like how you explained that in order to sell something, you need to have that something.

  • thank you. I was not thinking about getting back to Twitter. and the thought that Elon Musk might listen to you and start putting adds, convinced of keeping away from Twitter.

  • I so very rarely look at Twitter. 90% of the time I don't even have the app on my devices.

  • Would love to see you and Scott Galloway wrestle with your ideas for a new and better Twitter

  • I'm glad I stumbled upon your content. Thank you...new subscriber.

  • I will only come back to Twitter if they change their algorithm to stop trying to recommend the worst of humanity to me all the time. As soon as I stopped using Twitter I feel like my mental health improved 200%. No idea why people regularly use this site all the time.

    • Making a List on Twitter also eliminates sponsored / promoted Tweets. I don't see a Tweet from someone I don't have in my List unless someone I DO have retweets them. My Lists are also topical (much like Muti-Reddits on Reddit). I have a List for Blender and other 3D modeling, one for 2D digital art, one for photography, one for prog metal music, and one for Nintendo Switch gaming.

    • You can use the chronological time-line , then there's no algorithm, it's the only thing keeping me there.

    • @Amir an equal playground for the polarized ideas...you got to be joking lmao

    • Well the only toxic stuff I get are left ideologies. So I an glad that would be balanced now.

  • I don’t always agree with everything Marques’ says, but honestly I appreciate how well made and thoughtful his videos are, I genuinely find value in hearing his thoughts and opinions on the many things he covers. Happy to follow him on this and many other social media platforms

  • Y’all keep a close eye on Marq bro. His platform is getting stronger and wider and the kicker Is he actually talks about topics with his own opinion. Us “regulars” just have to go along with it bc we don’t have the platform

  • MKB is the first American I’ve heard to pronounce the word in-te-resting correctly. For that he gets my sub.

  • Great points and it sums up pretty well in your one sentence that the blue verified-tick mark is affecting the public more than the official accounts and it is exactly why everyone is riled up as opposed to just official accounts! Plus, the official accounts themselves have a right to demand the bang for their buck because why would they be paying for something that always was free?

  • Very well presented. I have Twitter, but have never really used it (so zero skin in this game)
