Please bless this school. It’s amazing what he’s doing at JSU
@TYH 2GAWD he left 😂
black coaches will never be able to win fbs championships outside of first or second year teams
Send them your lunch money. Calculate what you spend on lunch weekly or monthly and send half of it at the end of the year. You can deduct it on your taxes. Stop waiting for someone else.
@Leahjackie Peah Seems like you'll be leading the way down.
@LaMont Melrose once he leaves they go away again lmao
This interview was amazing. He's so real. I wish him all the success.
@running man And then there's that tiny detail that the media won't touch, like Mike Tyson in a wheelchair.
Watch his 30 for 30 called "Deion's Double Play."
Not really, He was vaxed and almost lost his feet. Crickets.
We need more people in this world like Deion giving back and truly making a difference.
Glad I grew up in Atlanta while Deion was around. One of my childhood heroes, and look at him now. Next level human.
LMAO!!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Powerful segment. I loved his explanation about why he couldn’t coach in todays modern NFL
TRAVIS HUNTER WILL FOREVER BE LOVED BY ME FOR THIS. no matter his career turnout. this is some impactful stuff! I love this. could've gone anywhere in the country and coast to the pros. have to respect the kid for putting on. shoot, I graduated and played at Penn State, I wish I went HBCU now. RESPECT.
As an HBCU alum, I would HATE to see Coach Prime leave Jackson State. Still, if he does, I SO appreciate the blueprint he has already laid. He's proven what can be done when the right people, commitment and resources converge. If I had a son who played college football, I'd send him to Coach Prime in a heartbeat.
@David DeMaria and he did exactly that, spot on!
@Quenton Gillispieif the young men are talented enough they can create their own opportunities stop drinking prime’s kool-aid.
@MJ24it’ll definitely leave and that’s how you know it’s not a sustainable blueprint not everyone has the same influence that Deion has.
@Benjamin Roodright and he basically played Travis Hunter in to believing that he can make an impact for Black America by getting to leave a FSU just he can leave him on go somewhere else, that’s cold 🥶 😅
Or nah 🤷♂️
Deion personifies not arrogance but confidence. Its a line no body walks better than him. When he says he's a winner it doesn't come off at all to me as he thinks he's better than anyone else, it comes off to me as he believes in himself and his ability to succeed and his determination won't accept failure. Its a powerful thing to watch because even just sitting at home it actually starts to instill that belief system Into my own mind.A big supporter of prime time and we need more men just like him especially in the coaching ranks.
I am happy that Deion is moving on up, congratulations 🎊
Me too‼️‼️‼️‼️
"Moving on up , to the west side"
And really didn't know he had been through all of the health adversity that he has been through and he still knocking it out the park you go Deon nothing but love
"I'm not just gonna win, i'm gonna dominate!" goosebumps
@Ron G twice lol
Until he faces the MEAC.
Lost both bowls that’s not domination
In Jesus Name.....
I have watched him since first day out of high school. Prime Time has always been exactly like you see him here. That is why he is one of the best to ever do it.
I once held the national 40 yard dash record in the late 60s 4.4 and deion broke it. I remember my brother Who became the school's maintenance supervisor telling me how sad 😭 it was having to take down my placard from the gymnasiums honor Wall. I've followed deion sanders career ever since, he's one of my heroes.
@Geeon Glok stop the cap
@Raydensheraj I never meant anybody is special just sharing a little wee bit of history but in the era of social media I see there are those who don't appreciate anything and people like you don't mind showing us right?
@Geeon Glok And you both have a preferred version of invisible supernatural superbeeing....isn't that just "awesome" and highly important to mention like it's "special."
@bcjclj that's so right and we both have a strong faith in God 🙏 and how he works in people's lives it's amazing to watch, these kid's don't know how truly blessed they are having him in their lives right now.
That man cut the grass. Deion is the epitome of when the most talented person in the room is also the hardest worker in the room.
Deon did not allow anything not even his health be an excuse . Class man and will go down history as a legend
@Moisty Mime wrong. 30M to a billionaire is only 3 percent. 99% of people don’t have 30M to throw around
Nothing but success to Coach Prime. Onward and upward.
@No Name 😂😂😂😂
@Wavy Crockett it’s not like having 100 and losing $3. It’s like having a billion and losing 30 million. You’re comparing a McDouble to multiple beachfront properties, or better yet 10 mil to 3 of his distant relatives. Just Bc someone is a billionaire doesn’t mean they will just throw 10s of millions at random investments like a dartboard. And unless these billionaires want to possibly bankrupt their company by liquidating their positions, none of them just have a checking account with a billy in it. It’s all tied up in stock and real estate. 30 mil is 30 mil, regardless who you are.
He's ALWAYS been a great man even before the "Must Be the Money." I'm so proud of you, Deion!!
I had zero clue of Deion Sanders health issues. I'm so glad he was able to push through and keep motivating these kids!
Wow, Deion really turned that program around and improved the school
@Lionel Grisbane it did age well
@Chris now boosters are a bad thing? 😂 Deion used some of his salary to help finish some of JSU facilities. keep hating tho
not like he wasnt spoon fed millions of dollars to compete with the other idiots that blow money on some athletes
@Lionel Grisbane shut up. yes it did. JSU wasn’t even his first choice, FSU was. yet, he still went to JSU and delivered TWO SWAC titles and on the verge of a third. he never said he was staying there forever and we all knew he would eventually move on to a power 5 school. get out ya feelings and be happy for the man
This didn’t age well
I'm a proud FSU alumnus. He flipped our number 1 recruit....from his alma mater. This amazing soul is flipping the college football world on it's head. He's incredible.
Deion stated in this piece that he doesn’t want to coach in the NFL and besides Jerry Will never hire a black coach and I’m a Cowboys fan.
@Chandler Womble if you ever get a chance read Jimmy Johnson's book. It's been 20 years since I have but man it was good. From how he took LB's and beefed them up and put on them at End. Same thing with FS to Ss. It all worked perfectly. "Speed always wins.". And then how great everything was until Jerry knew he was in the black which took years but then started the meddling.
Be nice if Jerry would bring him to Dallas as well as leave him alone and let him do his job.
As a 62 year old lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan I admire Deion a helluva lot more now than during his playing days. What a great piece.
Eagles fan here. Couldn't stand him as a player. Can't help but root for him as a coach.
A 13 minute video that made me cry, laugh, and be motivated all at the same time. Only Prime
Me too
Amen! 🦋🌹
Prime time 🔥
“Emotionally damaged” See a doc..
Well said, likewise for me
The one thing about Sanders, throughout his career, is that he was definitely a showman, and he definitely like to talk a little trash. But he was a respectful player, disciplined, and by all accounts, a fantastic teammate. He really was a natural fit to be a football coach and a leader of young men. He always had an extremely high IQ for the sport, and he knows how to motivate.
Well said!
Gifted
I have to agree.
Totally..
Awesome interview! I’m definitely rooting for Coach Prime and the path he is carving out for everyone. Gotta love him!❤🎉
HBCU has survived over 150 Years! They had provided some of the greatest Doctors, Lawyers, Altheltes and other occupation. Money has always been a problem, Because the like of resources. Coach Prime was a spark that was needed at JSU. Now he's moved on. So its a opportunity for someone else to mentor these young men, Because HBCU are here forever!!!
Pray good leadership good success and greatness for HBCU's always in Jesus Name.....
@Chris Michael what did I say that is cap?
I meant to say last he bought out the last year of his contract.
@Will Salter and he answered that question....pay attention
@Will Salter why were they, but OLE MISS wasn't? 🤷🏿♀️
I love what he's doing for young people. He is and will be blessed beyond measure! #teamcoachprime
I couldn't love him more. I played corner in the 90s and he was everything to me then. I am so happy he is having success as a coach too. A great man in every way.
Great to see 60 minutes doing a positive inspirational one. Believe it or not that's what we want to see, not the violence and killings that are so prevalent on 20/20 and Dateline. Outstanding coach Prime! Keep up the hard work. 👍👍
Right on to that!
Same thing w local news here in Nyc. More human interest stories, less murders. Not everything here is negative.
john we need you
Amen!
I’m a CU alumni from 2013 and I’m so excited to see someone with heart coaching our team. We won’t necessarily win tons of games but he brings something our program has seriously lacked for decades
After seeing what had happened to Deion and his Health. He is Now Officially " MY HERO" More Power To You Deion.
"I'm gonna dominate!! That's what I do, that's who I am!!" The words of a champion. Speak it brother.
TRUE words!!!
I love this young man he got it!! Not everybody got He Got It!
Truly inspirational, he's always been a star , had a friend played ball with him in ft Myers
This is phenomenally amazing. I’m glad I watched this. We need way more people like this.
whos the blondie rubbins his feet?? no wonder the kids are playing so well.
"Forget the program, it impacted the whole city. " A true leader who is above uplifting others, not just himself.
Coach Prime is an Icon, and he will continue to do great things no matter where he coaches at!!
Everything this man touches turns to Gold! He’s Gods Man!!! And can’t Nobody Touch Him! Ase ✨ ❤❤❤
Great interview, u can tell he really loves coaching football and winning on and off the field...bravo coach prime!👏👏👏
Knowing how gifted of an athlete and human being he is.. this dude meant the world to me as a kid growing up and I played baseball and football because of him. Deion was a big part of my youth and it absolutely broke my heart to see him have to go through the near death situation and seeing Prime being carried around because he was so frail.. especially knowing how strong of a person he really is. But if anybody can persevere it is Deion. He has really turned his life around from his self centered primetime days and has given back to so many people. Even as an adult he is still teaching me life lessons, like humility and persevering.
Thank you 60 minutes for making this available on CS-tv without cost. Fantastic interview of a great man!
@Mark Georges you don’t need a TV- all you need is a computer. Which is accessible at any public library for FREE
60 minutes skipped out all the racist BS Coach Prime had to deal with when he first committed to Jackson State. The whole Nick Sabin thing was disgusting.
@W. Dearth nothing is free got buy a tv and a cable box to watch 60 minutes on your locals.
60 Minutes has been on free tv for 50 years.
ok
How can you not love Sanders for what he’s doing with these kids.
If State could have matched the money would he have stayed? I feel bad for the underclassman kids. You know they feel betrayed/ abandoned This would have been a lot easier to swallow if he was going to coach his alma mater. Colowhiteo is never going to sit well with a lot of people
@nymike06 qi initially I love
@Raymond Perales what about the ones that went to his school he created?
But do you believe those young men and the entire campus learn something about what’s deep down inside them that money can’t buy, knowing someone honestly believed in you and your whole city..?? He made more than the football team stand up and notice that we’re capable of more than just hanging around the neighborhood. I want to believe the people of Jackson won’t stop because Deion Sanders has moved on 🙏🏾
@Craig And Nem The recruits do.
I have never watched 60 minutes!! This was a wonderful interview on so many levels!! I wish Coach Prime nothing but success in what he is doing with the youth. Keep up your great mentoring and hard work Coach!!
Deion Sanders (Coach Prime) is an inspiration. He brings hope not only to JSU, the city, the area, the state; he inspires all Americans to do something for the betterment of all humanity. Thank you for all the joy you brought me watching you play football and baseball. You are still Primetime!
So let’s keep things into perspective. Deion changed the culture at the HBCU. He helped renovate the school at Jackson and took a salary that pays him less than 5% of the average coach in College is making. It’s not the money it’s what the money says. If you value this man. When he’s showing you the money and winning you compensate this new found effort, energy and success. Not pay him the same while the institution gets richer. Cause now he feels like he’s being used. I guarantee his book will come out and this story will make headlines.
5% of Nick Sabans salary, not the average salary.
Perfectly stated
Much love to Coach Prime I hope he stays at Jackson State they need him to help achieve the dreams of so many young men he’s making the difference in. Wish I had millions to help him stay there to see what he achieves.
What an amazing advocate for the HBCU community! So happy you all interviewed him!
he’s using the hbcu for a real coaching job didn’t you watch the interview
ok
He was an outstanding high school football player 👏 🙌. I was privileged to watch him at north high school. He was a man amongst boys!
12:42 Deion is hilarious 🤣11:19 Deion has always said this. go look back at his interview with I AM Athlete. he always said he'd entertain the offers from power 5s. and he's explained why. not mad at him. its all business. JSU shouldve ate during that time Deion was there. i hope they did
Love the energy of Coach Prime. The endurance of this man is phenomenal and you must take notice. He's demanding you take a look at this HBCU!!! I Love it!
Great story. Congratulations on your success on and off the field. Continue making a positive difference in the lives of others. ✊🏾
Powerful stuff. How can you not love and root for someone like Deion! I remember playing SNES Tecmo FB 2 with my brother and I would always take the Falcons so I could have prime. Great athlete, better human being!
Deion Sanders really is an inspiration. Not only was he an amazing football player, he now is devoting his time and energy to help others get ahead. He has enough money and influence to sit pretty and enjoy his life in luxury but he decided it was important to do more and give people less fortunate a chance to be around him and see what success looks like. This is what leadership looks like.
@bahriboy If you disagree with Moore that's alright but don't denigrate being a nurse. I bet you'd be grateful to that person who is there to take care of you and yours.
@Tony Potts wasted time and misdirected effort. Same old story nothing changes. Athlete or ex/athlete as a role model cause there ain’t no daddy.
@Demetrius Robinson That is right. This is a slavery mentality. All of us should be happy and proud to see him come to help our community.Love from Jamaica.
A lot of love to Bro Dion from all black people in the Caribbean and AFRICA.your real value is not to go to rent a million-dollar boat on the coast of Estonia while your brothers and sisters are living on the stream poverty in America. DION SANDERS IS A MAN OF VISION.Again, nuff respect to you my brother.
@Ronald Moore Holy Moly ! You completely missed the point. This has absolutely nothing to do with these kids making it to the pros. I'm assuming you never heard the term 'force multiplier' as it relates to human capital -- heart, knowledge, inspiration -- with exponential benefit. SMH
Coach Prime and Coach Cadillac Williams getting all the media attention is my favorite thing that has happened this season. We need more men like them!
Absolutely...Clone Coach Prime 100 times over.
Love it, the positive influence and impact. Right where it’s most needed.
I wish him and the team great success beyond their imagination.
This is incredible to watch! As an old school long time Jerry Rice fan, you KNEW when PrimeTime was on the other end it was SERIOUS! Love him or hate him he backed EVERYTHING UP on BOTH professional fields he played on. At one point in the same days even. 🔥🔥🔥
He's always had an infectious personality. I grew up an Irish fan and while we held our own against his FSU teams I always secretly rooted for him because he was so fun to watch. Once he got to the NFL he was my favorite player. Whatever team he was on was my favorite team. The 1994 San Francisco team he was on was my favorite. Between him and Merton Hanks in the secondary they had 13 interceptions and only allowed 1 300 yard passing game against them all season (Brett Farve).
"I am not into politics, but I am into People" - Coach PRIME
Even if he is, which I don’t believe so, he has helped that school tremendously and he knows how to get them help. From what I have seen, he seems like he cares about people in general.
@SAMSON ABRAHA wasn't his point to grow this not leap to a bigger paycheck 😂😂😂😂😂
Gay
(8:26) change the game ! :)
One can't be into people without being in Politics
Much respect to Coach Prime, who puts his feet to action in a way that helps so many.
So good to see this! Coach Prime is inspiring the masses! Thank you Coach for what you are doing!
A true football legend... Thx u Deion Sanders for believing in the football team at JSU in Mississippi & giving them the opportunity to believe in themselves & show the world the talent God gave them.... Great interview!!!
After attending the Celebration Bowl and seeing this podcast afterwards I truly believe that Deion has been sincere in his endeavors at J.S. May God bless him as he take on a future career at Colorado. Deion has what is called the “God Kind Of Faith” when it comes to Football !! It’s Prime Time Baby!
if him being the coach at JSU makes a difference in the care the students get in JSU's legal ,scientific ,news reporting, and all other university classes , I would say that he was successful.
Everything this man touches turns to Gold! He’s Gods Man!!! ❤❤❤
Well he's successful then because the football programs carry the budgets of all the other sports and enhance the gravitas of the school.
What an amazing person
Awesome.
Verdade
good and rhe vest
Nice
Wow
Some people are just born with that 'X' factor. Wherever they go, whatever they do somehow they leave an indelible mark in those they engage with. What a super man.
Best 13 minutes you’ll spend today is watching this video. This is so heartwarming and it gives hope to the all American dreamers who may not have had a chance to succeed. Deon is a saint. Bravo Sir, bravo!! May your example of tenacious leadership, compassion, and generosity affect many.
Say what you may, but I have nothing but love for a true winner, Deion! 👏🏿👏🏾👏🏼👏🏽
Very nice… I didn’t know he was battling for his life due to blood clots…Coach Prime is one of my heroes… glad he’s still making an impact changing peoples’ lives… he represents hope for so many… kinda like Superman if ya think about it… I hope other heroes like him follow in his footsteps
I’m not mad at coach Prime at all ❤he has passion for the game and loves helping people to become successful. Keep pushing @deionsanders
The man was not only one of the greatest athletes this country has ever produced, but he's also one of the wittiest, most brilliant, and most inspirational speakers in the world. I'm at least 10 years older than the guy and he can make me believe I could run through a brick wall.
Exactly!! I'd play for him LOL 😅😅
💯!!! His touchdown dance was ridiculous but everyone was doing it!!! Lmao. I’m going to google it right now. Those were good days for me. Especially when he was in San Fran then Dallas
Its fake like wrestling
His parents produce him, not this country.
Hey Glenn...we might be related:)
Thank you for covering Coach Prime, Jackson State and HBCU's. This is shining the light on what we as african americans already know. Our athletes are bright, talented and deserving of every opportunity afforded to other conferences.
This interview just became a lot more interesting
he wasn't shy about possibly leaving thats for sure. Really interested to see what he can do with Pac12 level resources. Its gonna be fun to watch!
Very inspirational interview, and you know what they say about people , if you have such an easy time with everything as far as comforts in life and in sports you're not going to be as hard as someone that comes up the hard way like these guys are doing with the facilities that they have and the stuff that they don't have people better watch out for these guys a hard life makes for hard people and these guys will just keep improving. When prime Time came to Dallas I was totally ecstatic and he did so many good things for the Cowboys sorry to hear about his legs and surgeries but he is in a positive spirit and is doing things in the right way and a lot of things that he said in this I agree with he is right on point congratulations to him and a big thank you is deserved .
Some talk the talk while others walk the walk. Keep up the great job Deion!
Who would have thought that Prime could add this to his already outstanding legacy. This is one of the greatest storylines in sports history.
No doubt, and the best is yet to be written. Watch
And now he’s allegedly getting ready to leave it why I came to watch this 60 minutes to hear what he said no confusion . 3 years now your moving on? Smh man
your right and when it all boils down what he is doing right now with those young men trumps any of the accolades from when he was a young man himself. may God bless him on his journey.
I always liked Deion as a player, but I think I love him even more as a person after seeing this. He's got that positive confidence. Love to see him having such an impact on the community, Jackson State, and those young players. I'm definitely going to start following JSU football now, I wish them all the success they work so hard for! Also couldn't help to notice that the universities football budget was 4 million dollars. Or about a million dollars less than what Brett Favre swindled out of the state's federally granted funds designated for extremely poor people, so his daughter had a new volleyball arena to play in while she was in college. Be more like Prime, and less like Brett.
Well stated. Lolol, it is very disturbing how the Brett Favre situation is on mute 🔇, so, thanks for shouting it out. I, too, am ❤️ing Deion, "Neon Deion, PrimeTime AND Coach Prime"❗️God's blessings over him as he so unselfishly does the work & gives God the glory❗️
Was a Prime Time fan as a young man in the 90s and have renewed that energy recently when I saw what he was doing at JSU (and trying to do for all HBCU's). JSU should do everything in their power to keep him. It may come a time when they can no longer compete, but as another commenter said, he has laid out the blue print for the next person.
They don't come any better than Prime! He has a heart of gold! Keep doing what you do Coach Prime! God's blessings to you!
Watched you as an all-time great player and now as Coach Prime, may God always bless and grace you with the ability to motivate inspire and connect with our next generations ❤Europe
I absolutely love this story, thanks for sharing! Go Coach Prime…. Bravo 👏 👏👏
A leader of men. The world desperately needs people like coach prime to step up right now
This man was on the walls of my room from '89 through his retirement. Posters, Ads, Cards, All of it. Because he did what no one else could, and did it at the highest level possible. Absolute, LEGEND.
Mine too!!
@Michael Freeland Go ask a Mensa member's athletic ability . Irrelevant
He could run fast. Whats his iq?
Man, felt that all the way over here bro. Deion Sanders was the swaggiest football player in the 90's and still triggers haters to this day.
He had blood clots in his leg
Congrats to coach prime and Jackson State and all y'all's DERN success!!! I'm super pumped for y'all!
How well I remember Dion Sanders. What an inspiration he is to the school and to the community. Great segment. Thank you 60 Minutes.
Very inspiring whether pertaining to football or anything else you want to positively do!!✌🏾
I love this coach, he really inspires me with his words…great football player, even better person.
New day, new coach in town, keep up the good work, Coach Prime, we love you
Deon is one of the greatest athlete's that walked on this earth. His attitude in helping others will make this place a better place live..
@navahohoe _ Michael Jordan had plenty of money and he was a terrible baseball player. Lmao!! He only got bumped to the pros cus of his name.
@navahohoe _ 🤡
Was he great before or after it was over? Everyone gets better when money not on the mind
I wish they could pay him to stay so that all of the work he’s doing will continue to spread into other HBCU’s throughout the country. He’s a one of a kind personality with the charisma to really attract the attention that HBCU’s need. I don’t think that can be replicated by someone else if he leaves.
Dion is awesome and I wish the brother continued success 👍🏾
At 38, I still idolize this man like I did at age 10
Incredible personality and human! Keep up the great work!!!
HE SEEMS LIKE A GREAT GUY... WE NEED MORE LIKE HIM
He's awesome and damn hilarious at the same time. He definitely puts a smile on your face. Go Prime !!
I'm not into football or sports in general - like AT ALL - but this story touched me. I've never been into college sports partly because it just always seemed so uneven to me. The attention, the money, the recruiting, the fans overwhelmingly looking very different from the players and how those same fans *talk* about the players, on and off the field, and how there's always a subtext there in my opinion. It never felt good to me But wow, this is a revelation to me. I had no idea he was at JSU. Good for him.
He hands down has thee best college football coaching gear I have ever seen in my life. I want that whole custom under armor wardrobe.
What a great story. I followed Neon Deon throughout his football and baseball careers. What an athlete and a great man. I’m so sorry to hear about his leg and feet. I’ve never seen a man with quicker feet and defensive instincts. You’re a hero Mr. Sanders.
Hearing about his leg and feet problems had my heart drop to my stomach.
Best of luck to the football program and the school, big things to come!
Not just a great athlete but a wonderful human being
Now you see why everyone he played with never had anything bad to say about him.
Joey, you are spot-on!
❤
YES, INDEED‼️👌 💙
This man is pure greatness. Admirable!
The results when you're allowed to mature as a person and grow up! Salute Sir Prime 🙏
Niners fan here. Amazing Man!!!! Walk’s the walk. Watching him and Rice going at it back in the day was fun. Happy for Jackson!
