  • Heck yeah! That's awesome. Thanks for bringing her back to good health.

    • Why do you beat your poor wife?

    • Good of you to give him something with plenty to work on :) :')

    • you gave this guy a mess to fix my god. LOL yokes

    • "Back to good health" Seems like it was never there in the first place because you done goofed when you put it together. Not surprising from a channel named "JerryRigEverything".

    • @JerryRigEverything ...he won't explain in depth like you ... Jerry's video's are the best ... Sry EV doctor..

  • Nice work! I'm blown away by how proficient you are at these systems after only building ONE car! Great job.

    • Think about, how much work goes into "building only one". This should answer all your questions.

    • Thank you very much!

  • I'm actually surprised how many different things you found after a methodical analysis. Just goes to show - on these super complicated builds its super easy to forget something you would normally consider silly - like not connecting a breaker to it's power source!

    • Absolutely. And it's so often the 'simpler' or 'easier' elements that can get overlooked in favour of the really complex or difficult stuff. When troubleshooting electrics, it does often come down to a detailed check of 'is it plugged in correctly?'

  • As someone with good headphones, I appreciate the better sound quality.

    • Much better on my Home Theater system as well.

    • Hope it was better for you!

  • Hope your charger didn't get too damaged. I like how you automatically went straight to something that you had a better chance of correcting. Always progress! 😊

    • @Electric SuperCar Hey there! I have a 120v J1772 charger that I'm not using. I know it's not the same as your 240v charger, but was wondering if maybe you wanted it while you waited and/or work to acquire a new 240v charger. Thoughts?

    • The charger got damaged after connecting up the ground to the DC/DC converter... is there a chance of a ground loop?

    • always start with the easiest fixes, best way to eliminate options

    • Thanks!

  • There are three massive wins in this video: 1/ It shows one only fails when working on something not easy. 2/ It shows that failing is good because one learns from it. Engineering is all about trying, failing, learning and to persevere in that process. 3/ It shows that sharing its own failures is also a way to inform therefore to teach others. This project is totally awesome, but it's only because awesome guys like you and Jack do it. Best regards!

    • Saying a person can't fail doing something easy seems like a failure. lol

    • Thanks for the comment!

  • I love seeing the troubleshooting process and your attention to detail. I know you’ll figure it out 👍

  • You do a great job on the video. Goes to show just how complex the electric car creation is. Keep up the great work

  • So glad Zack pointed me to this channel, you're a great presenter and your explanations are really easy to understand

  • Absolutely love the lighthearted way you addressed the issues in the last video! Shows a lot of strength of character.

  • Zack obviously didn't think about serviceability when putting this together!

    • The Apple way, something broke? Don't repair it! Replace it!

    • Samsung taking notes hehe

  • Thanks to Jerry for showing us all, what a complex project this is. Insanely complex. It’s taken you months to get to the point where it still can’t be charged!

  • I'm surprised JRE even got to this point of the build with how much stuff just isn't connected. And he's alive too!

  • I design EV’s for a living and I see so many issues with how this truck is being built. I would not feel safe working on or driving this. For instance that wire that is being used for high voltage is probably not rated for 400V. That being said I appreciate the dedication to this project. I hope everyone working on this stays safe. 🤞🏼

    • I would guess the HV wire to the DC-DC converter is THHN wire which is rated for 600 volts. I could easily be wrong.

  • So happy the audio issue happened to be an easy fix. I’ll admit, I didn’t even think of not using headphones lol. I just decided to deal with it.

  • as an electrician apprentice, ive seen a few electricians use a pipe cutter (one that clamps down and you spin a cutting wheel around by hand) to strip heavier gauge cable. it was only like 2 or 3, but its quite ingenious

  • Tip for you with the heat gun. Run it in the cold mode for a minute before fully shutting it off when you’re done using it. That will make it last 2-3x longer. Heat guns are fine when they run because the air moving keeps the element from getting too hot, but when you just shut it off it has a bit of time that it cooks itself. That’s why they have the air only mode, it’s for cool down.

  • I hope Jerry pays you well for all this effort, cool vid as well man, doing a good job

  • this is why im only a carpenter and not an electrician! it never ceases to amaze me just how easy you make it look yet in reality it really isnt. plus, the fact that some wires werent even going anywhere, that is a little suss. also, i was really hoping that this would be the video that you would show us what had gone wrong and that you had fixed it. cant wait for the next vid to come out if you got this far already......

    • @ElectricSuperCar no problem, your job is something I have always been fascinated with, but always worried I'd end up in shocksville, so kept to my speciality. I'm great with my hands but there seems to be a disconnect between them and my brain lol.

    • Thanks for the comment!

  • Crazy how knowledgeable Tony Hawk is with EVs.

    • @Electric SuperCar lol 😂

    • I have to do something after my skateboarding career 😉

  • These are the videos which I'm on CS-tv for... amazing content. Loved it!

  • Great to see how you are finding things and fixing them as you go along.

  • Great work!!! Can’t wait for part 2

  • The bit that came out of the heat gun is part of the element. The first fin or two seem to always break during transport (literally every one I've gotten at least has a crack there). Not a big deal usually. Just a piece of ceramic that holds the element up and away from the other bits.

  • Can't wait to see it completed and ready for the teardown and bend test by Jerry

  • Love the editing and movie clips! Wonderful content

  • I think I remember JerryRigEverything exalting how much more simple Electric Vehicles are compared to Gas Powered ones. Looks like he still missed a lot of connections. Always works better when things are connected (plugged in) :)

  • Very good video. I like how you don’t seem to hide any of the mistakes or important details. ❤❤

  • Your sense of humor and editing makes this video flow wonderfully.

  • Thanks for showing the kind of detailed diagnostics this kind of thing takes, and the risks of "I broke my tools with my tools"... Any chance of a teardown/diag of your wall charger as well?

  • Following the story of this hummer has been my favorite thing on youtube for a while

  • Dude, you are awesome. So glad Jerry brought me to your channel. Looking forward to the next video/update.

  • Would be nice to have a diagram explainer (with picture reference) of all the diff components and who they communicate to. And what is or isn’t plug and play. Also, a good explainer of how much of this is JerryRigs fault and where. What mistakes did he make?/forget/factory problems with components… Thanks

  • Awesome video! Thank you so much for looking into the audio issues.

  • This is the kind of content that makes youtube awesome! This was so fun to watch

  • Reminds me of when I was rewiring my first vehicle, replacing the worn out wiring harness. I have since totally rewired 4 vehicles and partial rewired 2 others. The last one was totally botched. You turn on the left turn signal and the brake light would flash.

  • With the CANbus there's couple of things to check right off the bat - Wiring (CAN_H and CAN_L). When you measure the voltage between H and L lines, on the live CANbus, you should be seeing the readings around 0.3 - 0.7 volts. Check if H and L wires are not swapped anywhere. - Make sure that each CAN device has a unique CAN ID (address) - Each device is configured for the same baud rate i.e. 500 kbps Good luck!

  • Awesome work, like to know how well the scan tool that you bought worked for can-bus.

    • @Electric SuperCar thanks very much.

    • www.peak-system.com/PCAN-USB.199.0.html?&L=1 evolveelectrics.com/products/orion-candapter

    • @Electric SuperCar Can you send me a link to the one you got please. I would give you my email but have some idiots that try getting you to text them because you won something tracking me.

    • @MikeJ F I got the CANdapter that plays nicely with the BMS and I also got the PCAN USB adapter

    • @Electric SuperCar OK, is the link on that video?

  • Thanks for showing us your process and how you keep moving instead of being stuck

  • Great! Looking forward to the rest of the series!

  • WE got fanspin! Bless Zacks little heart and all the tiny mistakes. I think he did a lot of work on this project. I like your Fluke. I have an 87V Max. I know they are overpriced for what they do. I just prefer them.

    • They are not overpriced. It means you don't use them at their potential:). Have two of these, also.

    • Nice!

  • So many fixing in one vid. Incredible how you are able to trace that

  • Wow you are so skilled! Fantastic work!👍👏👏👏🤩🏆

  • Hahaha I’m so glad you addressed the audio issues 😂🎉thank you!!

  • Thanks for the vid. Looks like someone needs all the help he can get. 🙂 Jim Bell (Australia)

  • I respect the effort, no hate on Jerry but he’s clearly not studied how to do what he was trying to do an inevitably ran into issues and the ES Dr. is doing a great job dealing with the issues. Continue the amazing work. Been keeping up with the project since it began and can’t wait to see the HUMVEE on the road again!

  • love to see more content like this

  • Well done video and you troubleshooting skill rock!

  • A suggestion for a better understanding of the system, is to show us a hand sketched simple schematic diagram of the system and then identify the issues on the diagram as we go along the video.

  • *Consistency is the key to success, despite the financial instability all over the world, I’m so excited I’ve been earning $45,000 from my $10,000 investment every 10days...*

    • 😱I will text her on WhatsApp. Good Woman........💕💕

    • You just shared a vital information that will help lots of people who desires to make profits from trading..

    • @EDWARD BARBU Such information we don't it get from most CS-tvrs, I am getting in touch with her right away.

    • Seeing my broker being talked about on CS-tv excite me so much, This was exactly how i got recommendation about Mrs Mary Lynn crawford , At first i was a bit skeptical but eventually i gave her a trail with my little investment i got huge profit this woman has really change the life of many people from different countries and I'm a testimony of her trading strategy.

    • @José

  • Great work. I love this style of video! Keep it up. Watching from the UK

  • Logical sequence is a long and winding road. Keep up the good work doc!

  • I see some big issues. Use proper wire for the HV. Not only the wire conduit orange! Also put a 10A or 20A 1kV DC!! rated fuse in the HV juction box, before you leave out with the wire. Also the wore has to be shielded, as those DC-DC are quite noisy, and you will have conducted emmision on the wires and may not pick up radio channels:). Just use the proper automotive wire for the HV, as one short here, will result in fire, that big traction fuse may not even cut it out, your wire will...

  • Hopefully now it will be an easy run to get the hummer fully working now that those charger connections seem okay.

  • This will be the craziest HMMWV EVER!!! You could probably hear yourself think while driving it.

  • Thanks for the update. It is good to see you troubleshoot the systems, and it was nice to have some success in the end.

  • I had trouble wiring my computer together… this is insane

  • I love this. More content please!

  • Great job its like trying to find a black cat in a coalbin at midnight some times you just have to check every ware you know that cat may be. Takes time. Good work

  • Great work mad scientist, looking forward to the next video!

  • I love cars but don't know much about them or smart enough to understand some of this video but this has been so entertaining so far thank you for this cool content

  • this is as interesting as the project where he build it! thanks for a inside view

    • @Electric SuperCar well you don't see a guy reviving a EV allday do you :) glad you did a video about it man

    • Glad you enjoyed it!

  • 😲😲😲 so many faults. Awesome job!!!

  • Thanks for this help. Jerry sent me and I subscribed for more EV videos.

  • This is awesome, amazing job 😊

  • Having a spare wire not connected at the end of a build is a lot like having a left over part at the end of an engine rebuild 🥴

  • I got introduced to your channel via Zack (the installation and this current fault finding situ). Yes, I got the joke (L&R lol), and yes, I laughed at the Zack based comments too. You have a sense of humour I find enjoyable in a sense of another classic film - Robocop (1987) AAAAAAAIIIIIIHHHLIKE IT! Hahaha. Some other channels that are technical/mechanical with a great sense of humour are 'Two Stroke Stuffing' (he's currently trying to tune a complete home made 50cc 2 stroke SUPERCHARGED motor (highest he's seen so far on his Dyno is about 25 BHP)), then there's 'SuperfastMatt' and his mad goings ons... And some other great channels too. I look forward to continuing my look through your back catalogue of bids! So far sooo good! 👌👍. 😎🇬🇧

  • Sorry to say ... Jerry's way of making an video is the best, and he explains everything. Means JERRY RIG EVERYTHING...

  • Can't wait to see the next one!

  • thanks for making this video so understandable

  • For those high voltage wires going to the dc converter, it really needs some sort of protection in front of it, and preferably an armored cable with shielding around it, and a system capable of performing a "sanity check" before engaging a separate contactor to turn it on that checks the integrity of the grounding and cables, same goes for the main contractor. For example, a Toyota Prius will isolate the wires, and check continuity on every start to verify there aren't any faults that could cause someone to get electrocuted. After everything is tested some safety circuitry should really be considered with those high voltage wires. The thin gauge on those wires going from the contactor may not be enough to blow a main fuse should they wear through and short circuit.

    • @Electric SuperCar Nice!

    • Hey Friend, thanks for the comment! There is a specific fuse for this. Also the BMS has the safety circuit that controls the High Voltage InterLock. I think we are good

  • That wiring was truly Jerry Rigged 😂

  • 100,000 views in 1 hour. How do you not have an EV charger sponsor!

  • How in the world were so many connections not connected in the first place?

  • So far quite a lot of fixes :)

  • You should make sure to add shielding to any high voltage cables or connections. Not just orange marking

    • Otherwise you are just introducing EMC/EMI antennas all over the car. (If the cables are not internal in a faraday cage with no internal EMI/EMC noise)

    • Thanks for the comment!

  • Wires leading to nowhere, Well there's the problem right there.

    • the good ol' high impedance air gap

  • Your choise of meme's is excelent sir! I laughed a lot and hard! Thanks a lot!

  • My dude, where the shitballs are your insulated tools?! Awesome video, can't wait to see what kind of crazy battery tech comes around in the next few decades; it's gonna be a trip! Really dig the channel, definitely going to watch more! ...but seriously, high voltage is no fkn joke ombre - your life is worth a lot more than the price of those insulated tools.

    • insulated tools for what? is he touching a cap?

  • 8:21 maybe a stupid question but HMMWVs (like most military vehicles) work on a 24V system, not a 12V system. Did that complicate this EV swap? I don’t know if things like the lights are expecting 12V or if that is typically stepped down.

    • A little. Zack re-did all of the 12V systems. Headlights, turn signals, reverse, etc.

  • Nice work!!

  • I'm sure JerryRigEverything wouldn't mind some scratches here and there but what he definitely wouldn't want is results of bend test

  • With all the car taken around building the battery boxes I was surprised at how loose and unmanaged the wire harness was.

    • done on purpose, that was not final build, need to makew sure everything is wired properly, and having a fully connected wire harness wouldn't be practical if they needed to undo all of it to find the faulty ones.

  • Hard work 💪🤯

  • This was really fun to watch, can't wait for the next one!

  • did you ever throw a logic analyzer or oscilloscope on the can bus to see if you are getting actual useful comes, and not having multiple devices talking over eachother (or other electrical issues)?

  • Jerry-rig tests EVERYTHING!

  • Looks like zac just forgot a bunch of wire runes

  • Wow wow - now I know what JerryRigEverything did not make much progress on this the last few months. This video is just a hint to how many things can go wrong wiring an EV

  • I wonder if this will fix the whine the engine makes, or is that just an unsolvable issue?

  • Maybe pick up an OpenEVSE charger (since the spare parts are easy to get, and its really well documented)?

  • I watch your videos before you have 1M subscribers. Good contents. 😁

  • Bigger cliffhanger than prime time tv shows 😂

  • wow! amazing. 👏👏

  • Zak is pro at bending things - phones, pins.... XD

  • One minute in and you are have me snickering, this is a good start.

  • Awesome I so happy to see this.

  • my favorite projecttt!! Nice oneeee

  • wow. one of the best ev channel. really nice to see the details. thanks .which type of converter is this ? buck , boost or buck-boost ? henry from tanzania

  • Great content. What CAN reader did you use?
