Interest rate is currently at 4.75%(8th rate hike since March last year) Inflation at 7% and mortgage rates is at over 7.5% but yet minimum wage remains the same and my retirement portfolio has suffered tremendously these past years, so my question is how do senior citizens retire and live off such unstable economy. The long term game is obviously not for me at this point.

Musk has dragged the entire EV market forward by at least 20 years. Every other manufacturer toe dipped and offered uninspired options with extremely low ranges and poor performance which is exactly what the public would normally expect. Musk jumped in with both feet first and went for range and performance as a priority. Once he addresses Teslas poor build quality, after sales and general customer service levels, I might even buy one.
this is how capitalism works, the competition between different manufacturers means the pioneers force the ones who are left behind to improve or crash out of existence. The result is we all get better service, goods and usually for cheaper.

I would love to get one for my company (drilling industry) and REALLY use it, put it through some extreme conditions! I think that would be good consumer information for Tesla.
@Fortus Victus I was going to ask how big of a jack would be needed for this thing and then I remembered it's a Tesla and no owner is going to do their own repairs.
It's going to be heavy. Very very heavy. Stainless steel frame and body with EV battery packs, as many as three drives. All of the EV's are heavy, this one is going to probably top the scales.
Okay, I'll admit that the Cyber Truck is kind of cool. Definitely next level when you take the time to actually watch the drive through. I'd definitely want to test drive one. So yeah I'm changing another previously harsh and close minded opinion I guess.

Jay loves showing us his Baker Electric from ~1910, and has owned a Tesla Model S for a few years. It's natural for him to be excited about the Cybertruck.
If an emp goes off most of Leno's cars will still run . And the curves on most of those refabricated cars in California and chopped antiques and classics is pure functional art.
The one feature that I find really problematic in all Teslas, and others seem to be following, is the glass roof. In a summer or southern climate with direct sunlight these cars are an OVEN and in some of the models there is no way to install any sort of shield. It is similar to a sunroof in that while you can close it off from air and wind yet unlike a sunroof you cannot EVER shield yourself from the glare of the sun.
I have a Tesla and don’t have any issues of this nature.
@Michael C Glad you have that experience. Mine, a model S, is a super-conductor of heat. It is extremely hot to the touch and heats the top of my head to the point that I have to wear a hat. This is without question the reason I will never buy another Tesla. I know they have visors you can install as an add on but the use of glass roofs makes no sense. Sure it give the illusion of a larger car and allows more light but the heat and the inability to shield it is a major design flaw in my view.
The glass is ceramic coated, very little heat gets through. I have a model Y and had no issues this summer.
Actually the roof glass in the cybertruck has a special stack of tech glass with switchable features to go from completely opacity to clear transparency, also comes with special coating treatments to reduce dramatically the heat transmission and a good acoustic performance. I dont like the design honeslty beacuse it feels unfinished.
You can tint it. But I have a Model 3 and haven’t really noticed. Sure it’s hot in the parking lot like every other car, but the top glass doesn’t seem to be especially hot. If there is a difference air conditioning will take care of it. You can turn on air conditioning from your app in the store.

@Mountain Nomad VFX I’m well aware… It’s just annoying. ..but aero really just applies to EV .. it’s hardly an issue with gas vehicles. In their case, it’s mostly just cost that cuts out the nicer design features.
That's because what looks cool is extremely aerodynamically inefficient. Bad for petrol/gas vehicles and far worse for battery EVs.

I saw Jay once while riding my motorcycle. He and a driver in a white old fashioned get up were driving a steam powered car. When he pulled up behind me at a stop sign, I turned around, said hi and asked if he would like to stop for coffee at Universal City walk. He was real nice and declined, saying that he couldn't really stop the car because it took about an hour to get it powered back up again.
At first I was skeptical. Now, I'm beginning to be a fan of Mr. Musk.

I'll go one better. Why does a vehicle built by a self professed "for the environment" company like Tesla have the aerodynamics of a car made 100+ years ago? Cybertruck is not made with sense at all. It will be heavy enough as it is which puts a large demand on the battery - adding terrible aerodynamics to the design just makes it untenable as an electric vehicle until far higher capacity batteries come along.
I gotta say the cybertuck is cool. If it didn’t look like a 5 year old’s fridge drawing, I would actually think more about getting one.

I am an old man who likes a more conventional appearance in my trucks and yet want the most cutting tech underneath the hood. It is unusual and am sure its an engineering marvel.

The Cybertruck appearance reminds me of a modern millitary frigate and the F-117 Stealth bomber... its military's grade robustness makes me wonder if these are being built in preparation for the coming apocalyptic Mad Max world, that's planed for 2030.
