I’m going to start calling my hardware problems “hard problems” but I will never call software solutions “soft answers.”
Oh look it's the mayor emeritus of CS-tv, getting 10k likes on his comments again.
Woah
I have hard problems every morning And soft answers when i need a hard answer.
Chocolate pain
then you gotta back to the Nokia 3110 2000 model 🤣
I still have a Pixel 5a and I love it. It honestly is all I need in a phone personally. Does everything I need it to, and is unbelievably affordable. I used to go for the Samsung flagships, and if things keep going the way they are now, I'll probably never switch back. Probably gonna snatch up the 7a when it comes out.
@Maikel2Play 2 months from now there is gonna be official news about 7a probably coming out in 3 months
I agree, I had the pixel 2xl, then I tried to use a Samsung S20 but you could just tell it wasn't as smooth or even as enjoyable to use compared to the pixel. Now I have a Pixel 6, I won't go back.
@Dakota Jones me too it runs butter smooth but battery runs out quickly now a days.
My Pixel 4xl still works good and I love that they kept it up to date with Android 13.
I love my Pixel 5a...The only problem I'm facing is the lack of physical dual sim... Otherwise there is no need to think of an upgrade as of now...
The visual voice dialing is a feature I have been LONGING for, for years now. I really hope this feature gets picked up by all smartphones soon.
@Enrico 2002 lolol 😂
Its definitely different versions though pull up a little more than average of pixel 4
@JPC they were doing it in 2002?
Unlikely no other company puts a major effort in audio transcribing. Google has been doing it for decades
I absolutely LOVE all of the cool features of this phone, and I still haven't gone through everything yet. I was done with Samsung anyways, after almost 10 years, but it was nice that the Pixel 7 Pro was THIS amazing.
Same..had a S20+ for 2 year's now and the screen stopped working although I dropped it a few time's. Samsung has been good in my experience but I see no reason at all to get the S23+ so I'm switching over to the 7 Pro tomorrow.
Does it heat? Is it smooth while switching between apps?
@TewPaqs For me it is the short battery life and lack of plug for wired earphones. Really bad wireless earphones and really poor quality speaker phone.
I dropped my S10+ 35 feet(still kinda works) so I decided I'd pick up a pixel since I've wanted to try it for a while. But not being able to easily change media output is fucking ridiculously annoying. Afaik only CS-tv and CS-tv Music bring up the card where you can change it
@Yuva my s21+ has screen burn. It's 2 years old, I had the same issue with my s8 although it was worse on that phone. Not to mention the paint that's also come off the sides even though it's been in a case since new
As an iPhone user, this is the first Pixel that seems to be a compelling option. The software features and design make it seem really impressive! Great video!
But I bet you didn't switch.
Here are my comments after using the Google Pixel 7 Pro 256GB for 2 months: 1) The display is very greenish even the display is at full brightness. In the setting, there is no any setting can be adjusted for colour temperature and RGB levels. I am not sure if this is a software issue or hardware issue. 2) The sound levels for alarm volume, notifications volume and call volume can only be ramped up/down in 6 fixed levels from 0% to 100%... not very flexible... 3) The power button and volumn up/down buttons are at the same side. likely to press wrongly most of the time. 4) The volume up/down button is the centre of the phone body. It is MOSTLY IMPOSSIBLE to place you google pixel 7 pro nicely on a gimbal/stabilizer.... I wonder why the product designer team miss this out... 5) Missing lots of basic apps, even the "MUSIC" app is not included. I downloaded a music player app that scanned and tidy up my library correctly but with advertisement. I think this is really ridiculous to happen on google store. Google shall at least provide a free and functioning mp3 player besides the FILE MANAGER. Other missing apps include COMPASS, HEALTH, SMART CLEANING (free up space) 6) The spotify album cover is no longer displayed fully on the lock screen for this version of Android :(( 7) No 50MP raw image from the main camera. THe max resolution i get from raw file is only 12MP. Overall I feel no surprise or even disappointed from upgrading from LG v40 (my 4 year old phone)... I really hope i can give direct feedback to Google....
@QUANTRELL BISHOP your entire sentence makes it clear you didn't own an iphone 13 pro max
Iphones are trash I just got rid of my 13 max and picked up a s22 ultra and no comparison Samsung's like futuristic compared to iPhone I'm intrigued with pixel 7 pro tho
@Jamar Wright that's not true, the Snapdragon as the same NPU capabilities
I grabbed a 6a a month or so ago (they were offering $300 trade on my old 4a5G, so got the 6a for $150). I'm very impressed with the speech-to-text with Tensor chips; its now giving a pretty decent shot at punctuation (like Marques showed in the vid).
@Lucipher Gaming You should just keep your 4a like me. I like pulling it out in front of iPhone users, which makes me smart and bigly, and gives my phone character.
@Lucipher Gaming I really like the 7-series. Since I spent so little comparatively on the 6a, I might still grab one of the 7s
@Adam Ross just ordered a 7pro. After all the reviews I've watched. Seems like the best choice from my 4a to current gen
@Lucipher Gaming I use Google Fi in the US, it was through them. I was hoping to turn right around and use the 6a on a trade-in for one of the 7s, but, so far it hasn't shown up on the trade-in list :)
Was this Rogers in canada?
Fact check: Google revealed that Tensor G2 is actually 5nm, not 4nm 👍🏾
@Abdullah Khan My experience with it was that the battery life is misleading. The camera is fantastic though. It would be a great match with your phone usage, and because it has Google's 2nd generation processor, youll probably have a pretty long life in terms of OS update compatibility.
Hi Marques As some who looks for extreme long term use out of mobile phones, like I’m in the 6th year of the iphone 8. Would the pixel 7 be a good update to carry for 6-7 years plus Phone usage isn’t a lot maybe 2-3 hours when i am going through heavy usage
Hi marques
10:54 the bass differences are coming from the model 7 being thinner, so it has a smaller cavity for the bass to form.
It's been a month since the video and I'm just realising that if they made it on 4nm that it may rival the iPhone 14 and s22 plus in battery life. If anyone can fact check this statement pls tell me if I'm wrong.
I'm a Pixel fan. My first all Google phone was the Nexus 6, and I've been hooked ever since. The software is really the selling point. And we're to the point where I don't really feel the need to upgrade simply for hardware every year, or every two years. As long as I'm getting software updates I'm happy.
I loved my nexus phone back n the day ❤️
👆👆Thanks for watching and commenting giveaway awaiting for you..........🎀🎀.....
About 3 months in and my Pixel 7 is going great. My major frustration and disappointment, the fingerprint recognition has resolved itself (magic or software upgrade?). The battery is excellent, no problem going a whole day. I changed over from an iPhone (something I thought would be daunting but it was so simple) and can't imagine ever wanting to go back. The software in this phone makes it smart in so many ways I feel it's a step ahead of the competition. Love my Pixel 7.
Would choose google over apple anyday now. Initially Google didn't make good phones, but they have improved so much and they are much better than apple now.
My phone gives barely 3 hours of screen on time heats up like crazy w the slightest camera use and the network bands and the idle battery drain is intolerable
Same here, really happy with my Pixel 7. Just wish it had a better front camera, that's been my only major disappointment. For a line of phones known for their camera quality, they really dropped the ball with the front camera. That plus the fact that the home screen search bar can't be removed or even repositioned at all without using a separate launcher, but I can live with that.
I’m honestly thinking of switching from an iPhone to this phone. So videos like this and comments like yours are marking me fore confident to make the switch.
Love that you dedicate a slot for sustainability. Just as an upgrade, the programmed obsolescence has way more impact than the packaging. 2 years of software upgrades and 5 of security upgrades makes a more sustainable device than a few grams of recycled materials!
Something that I noticed right away that is very irritating is the drop in speaker quality. Even watching this video back and forth between my 6 Pro and 7 Pro, the difference is significant. I'm also having odd delays when opening apps through the notification shade, but I'm hoping that gets patched out in the coming weeks.
@cobblecola yeah it sounds better with music but anything else is still bad
Try turning on "Adaptive Sound" in the settings
I thought I just got a defect. but yeah, speakers are awful and I hope it's not a hardware issue
It would be interesting to see what google can do if they set out to make a high-end flagship in the $1200 range
@Jamar Wright I'm ready
Pixel Foldable coming soon..most likely will be more than 1200 too.
It surely be as good as Pixel Pro are already. Main question for me is: Are people willing to give up Apple Ecosystem ?🤔 I could easily switch because i use my 13 Pro with Windows laptop and i'm totally not hyped by Apple Ecosystem but in the comment, it seems people want to stick with Apple in US.
I now can't distinguish if the intro B-Roll shots of the phone are from Google or from MKBHD - incredible.
@Worthless Opinion Exactly, it seams probably the worst until now for me.
I'm not sure that's a good thing...
It's from MKBHD
I'd say MKBHD solely based on the smudges on the metal visor.
Me neither
I moved from a Pixel 2 to an iPhone 13PM last year. I really miss the Pixel and the way some things just worked fluidly. But I'm also enjoying the Apple ecosystem, as it gels in with my work Mac and the other Apple devices my family uses pretty well.
As always Marques- a fantastic review. I had the Pixel 6 pro right when it came out, and I returned it within a week due to all of the issues. I was impressed with the phone and really wanted to keep it, but it was plagued with issues- especially the fingerprint scanner almost never worked even after registering the same finger multiple times. I think the optical fingerprint scanner is an issue especially during colder weather. I received my Pixel 6 pro in December. I believe the colder weather, lower humidity, lower skin hydration makes the optical sensor struggle. I find that the ultrasonic on the S21 worked better than the Pixel optical scanner in all scenarios, but also noticed that when my skin was more hydrated (warmer weather) it worked better. I also tested my theory this past winter by applying lotion at times and noticed the scanner would work better. This may explain why some people had less issues with the Pixel 6 fingerprint scanner based on time of year and location (weather). I think adding the facial recognition helps the Pixel 7, but really the Samsung ultrasonic sensor is better and also include facial recognition. Personally I feel if they brought back the capacitive sensors and placed it on the back of the phone- I would prefer those- they worked perfectly all the time. The Pixel is the more innovative, but the Samsung more practical and dependable. Also for me the 10X optical lens in the S21 is preferred since I do a lot of video and photography of my daughter performances at a distance. Thanks again for a great review!
I just bought a 7 Pro last week and its been super impressive since I got it. I love the design of the 6 and 7 and the exclusive features it has. the camera, and feel of the phone are amazing and its my first Pixel phone but not first google phone as I owned the Nexus 6P when it came out and that also was really good for its time. Im looking forward to see what google does with its pixel line and I may also invest in a pixel tablet and watch at some point. Id HIGHLY recommend the pixel to anyone looking for a premium phone. it delivers on all levels. might might be a slow charging phone for 2022 standards but the battery in my experience has been very good. I also don't play games on my phone though lol.
Users would really appreciate if you could compare a hardware heavy phone like vivo x90 pro plus with software centric android phone like the pixel 7 pro to let know what the user should be going with given their requirements so that they make a clear decision on what they should be getting as their daily driver.
What does the weight distribution of the 7 pro feel like in the hand? One of the main issues I have with my 6 pro is that it's incredibly top heavy, and therefore feels very uncomfortable to hold and use. Certainly doesn't look like that's been addressed. Feels to me that comfort and form are really being overlooked with these clunky behemoth flagships.
With a case, it doesn't feel that bad
Pro tip for college students: what discovered this semester is Google Docs also has a built-in voice-text feature, and it works fairly good if your professor speaks loud and clear! You will have to make corrections but it might do a good enough job for you to focus on the lecture and not note taking! Wish I found this sooner on in my time of college haha
That's only if your professor allows you to use computers!
Mind blown 🤯 will use this tip if I ever go back to school
@Neo Anderson It varies person to person.
@Mandragara It’s really a matter of opinion. I for instance, see almost no benefit from note taking.
I have a Pixel 7 and it works great. I thought porting from my old phone was amazingly simple. My main gripe is I have a flip cover (with magnets) and it doesn't open the screen when I open the flip as far as I can tell. I can turn on gestures so the phone turns on when I move it but then it turns on WAY too much. If there is a way to enable flip cover let me know.
I still use a Pixel 3A XL and I love the fingerprint reader on the back since I can use it to slide down the top bar, gonna miss that when I upgrade.
I just switched to the 7 from a 3XL. I like the new features but I do miss the fingerprint on the back. The navigation settings changed too. I really miss 2 button navigation.
I've always been partial towards the Galaxy S and Note lineup. Previously had the S4, Note 4, Note 7 (had to change it out to the LG V20), S8+, and the Note 10+. My Note 10+ lost video output and touch, so I had to get a new phone quickly, and went with the iPhone 14 Pro Max, to which I didn't really prefer UI-wise. so I ultimately paid the restocking fee and traded it in for the Pixel 7 Pro. I love this phone. It's simple, has no extra apps I never used from Samsung, easy to setup and personalize, and I'm excited to check out a lot of these cool features. The camera is awesome, too!
I'd just like to compliment you on your very polished and genuine presentation! I can easily tell you are YOU in front of the camera and not putting on the drama robes. Polished speach, informative content, excellent review. I don't ever comment on CS-tv videos btw.
I am willing to change my phone after 5years and 3 month. Currently with Note 8. Love the pen option. For some reason this Pixel attracts me, but I feel they will get way better on the newest model. Should I wait or get the 7 pro?
I love how whenever you do Apple/Google reviews you always pay homage to their ad campaigns, including the smallest details, such as colors, framing, song choices, all of it
@Ed This was a valid and productive comment that you decided to interject in, that is not the right time or place to preach, have respect as you wish they have for your beliefs
@Meow Turtle ok do it again and say lord Jesus please I am on my knees baging you to reveal your self to me if you do I will serve you all the days of my life
@Meow Turtle have faith
@Ed already have, he did nothing. I denounced the holy spirit and he still did nothing.
@Dilaisy_loone I encourage you to repent and ask God to forgiveness and soften Your heart and if you do not believe then go in a room shut the door and ask God to reveal Him self
Great quality review as always - having gotten the phone I noticed that the screen has really washed out colours when compared to other phones or a colour calibrated monitor. There's a big thread on Reddit and on the Google Pixel forums but Google has not confirmed it yet. Would have been great for us users if you guys (YT reviewers) would have mentioned it as this is the only way Google would have acted - e.g. how they responded to the Pixel 2 display fiasco.
👆👆Thanks for watching and commenting giveaway awaiting for you..........🎀🎀.....
Love your reviews, MKBHD! It's been a long time since that laptop/ad for Intel and Lenovo or whatever it was. I may be getting my first smartphone soon, and it will probably be a Pixel Pro, just because it's the best at some things and I know I'd use a high-performance, extra-smart smartphone 🙂
I would love a Pixel Extreme or Ultra, where they "simply" put in best in class Hardware and then the Pixel Experience/ Software on top. I think a Pixel like this would be untouchable for the competition. I know it would be expensive but I would pay even pay $1300 for it and then use it for the next 7 years or so, still rocking my OnePlus 5.
I upgraded to Pixel 7Pro from P5. I love the phone itself, it looks awesome and performance is great. The only problem is, after only 3 days of use, the back is badly scratched. The camera bar and the lower edge where the phone contacts the surface have a lot of scratches. Kinda disappointed with the built-in quality.
@Xiong Ceena lmfao that's y u clean your sheets every once a week or so
@Jaye Naturalistic throwing on the bed are still bad if your bed is dusty, so i wouldn't recommend that.
Lowest quality materials used to make this phone. Its junk.
@7erikcr ya np. also the company said i could use my old adapter to charge the phone so i didn't have to buy the google pixel charger adapter, turns out google pixel do NOT support Huawei adapters, so i had to buy a new 1. again phone company messed up, but they gave me free data and 5g package for their mistake, so its a good idea to complain :) good day.
@MetalFreaken007 oh i understand, thanks
I bought the 6 pro on release and have been dealing with bugs since launch. 5Ge speeds being slower then LTE. Google maps and drive mode wigging out every time I multitask. Battery life was also an issue. Granted I'm a power user and, I use my phone for work, but It never lasted me more then 6 hours on middling brightness with battery save turned on. I just hope these issues are fixed.. I'm still hesitant to upgrade for such little changes
I was very much the same, I can genuinely tell you I hated my 6 pro. I used maps all the time and if I opened Facebook the entire maps app would kill itself and freeze my entire phone. I was sick of it. Traded it in for the 7 pro and it's genuinely night and day difference, completely different experience.
"But for patient Pixel people who prefer pristine programming and pretty pictures, the Pixel Pro is pretty perfect." Really liked this alliteration at the end!
All-star, amazing alliteration adds attitude to your avant-garde advice.
@trustier I had to go back and look at it again, and there it was, at 4:25. Nice easter eggs. HAHAHA!
PeePee Potty PooPoo
Pete Porter in Pasadena!
Props
The worst bug which I have on my Pixel 6 and it's not only me (based on Reddit posts) is that the sound just dissappears when your bluetooth is connected and someone is calling you. After the call, you can't listen to music, watch videos. Nothing helps except for the refresh. So annoying. I hope they fixed that in Pixel 7
I got the same. But my guess that the problem appears when the pixel uses the wifi connection to make calls.
I've never had that problem. Maybe it's something else
Great review! Thank you for this good honest review with pros and cons including new features of the Google Pixel 7 series. I just got a Google Pixel 7 Pro after turning in my Google Pixel 3LX. I'm really enjoying my Google Pixel 7 Pro atm. Looking forward to seeing more content from the CS-tv channel.
How is the battery life after daily usage?
Have you got any bugs on the 7?
Hi there, thinking to do the same as you.. I own a pixel 4 xl and want to trade in for a pixel 7... How much was the value of your trade pixel 3 xl? I'll make the plunge if they give me a good value for it. I'll appreciate if you reply to my message. Greetings!
Definitely gonna upgrade to the pixel 8 when it comes out, Googles chipsets are getting better
Got my pixel 7 today. I absolutely love how seemless the setup/data transfer process is. Quickest setup ever on a phone.
It's post processing suuucks though
just upgraded from my 4 year old pixel 3xl to a pixel 7. fantastic upgrade, love it.
That's the phone I have and I'm eagerly awaiting my 7 pro.
Hey, Marques. I just wanted to let you know that Tensor G2 is confirmed by Google to be built on Samsung’s 5nm process, not 4nm. Love your work.
@Denis Kudlik Yet the efficiency here is surprisingly better than most Android phones with TSMC made chips
@Ivan they only released that info recently after he posted, and he added this detail in his comment. and yeah, he IS the best tech youtuber hands down.
He addressed it in a comment
@Johnny Vick that's what she said
@Olumide Aanu 5nm is by itself worse than 4nm, add to that the fact that Samsung's lithography isn't as good as TSMC's, and it's an all around worse chip. Not too bad tho.
I currently have the Google pixel 4a. But recently I have had so many issues, that I'm unsure if I'll bother with another Google phone right now. I mean overheating, freezing, restarting, and issues with my camera. This phone looks promising but I think I'll shop around a bit first.
I have a 4A 5G and absolutely love the software experience. Call screen should be an industry standard feature. However, it's absurd that Google still has not put a microsd card slot on a "Pro" device. Hoping they change that by the time I really need to upgrade.
I doubt it
I’d given up on the Pixel after the awful battery life and overheating and various bugs on my Pixel 6 but the 7 Pro has peaked my interest and I’m suddenly finding that I’m missing the Pixel camera which made me enjoy taking pictures again as well and miss how smart it was and felt the Pixel 6 was MY phone and while I’ve decided to get the iPhone 14 Pro Max, I feel I’m struggling to make my old iPhone 11 Pro Max my phone and I feel I’m missing my Pixel 6 now.
You and your team have come a long way man. Keep up the great work, the intros be so good 💯
I hope Google brings back the MicroSD capability, they would sell a lot more of these phones, making them them attractive over other Android and Apple phones
Google will never do it. They need to sell Google Drive plans.
The recorder app would be incredible for university students, to transcribe lectures. When I was in college I remember frantically trying to write down everything the professor said (so I could just rely on notes later and not do the reading). With this app, you don't even have to take notes anymore, and if a student asks a question, the app will even label the different speakers, so you can transcribe an entire Q&A. And transcribing is not the same as recording, so you won't be breaking any rules.
@Dingani Alexander the only selling point it would have over other brands. Samsung has folding screens apple has fast chips google has ai. In Europe they don't even sell these I haven't seen one with my eyes ever though.
@Πάνος 😂😂 in the AI is what makes the pixel a pixel?
@Πάνος When it initially came out it had issues for the reviewers but when it got to people's hands by that time it was already fixed. And all you have to do is look up Pixel 6 today in the life there have been a few college students who have done that
@Dingani Alexander Pixel 6 software was a dumpster fire for reviews and there aren't exactly students who have tried this and posted the results online. Even if the ai works fine it will be filled with other people talking about their car or their ex
@Πάνος coming from a pixel user it really doesn't have any issues. Have you used one before
Nice. Google's commitment to good hardware and exceptional software is commendable. Now, if my Nest speaker would start responding after my first command, now matter how many times I reboot and reset it, I would love the Google ecosystem even more.
After watching many smart phone reviews I bought the Pixel 7 Pro after watching your review. A longtime user of iPhones, starting with the 4S, I couldn't justify paying almost twice as much to get the equivalent new iPhone Pro Max, in Canada $1549 vrs $879 for Pixel 7 Pro. Thanks for helping me make my choice for a new phone.
I’m getting a new phone. I have a iPhone 11 Pro and I’ve always been with iPhone BUT I’m so over the iPhone. I want to go back to Samsung or Android operating system. I think I’m going to go ahead and get the pixel 7 pro!
I think it's a gorgeous looking phone I have the 6a and I love it will trade it in for the 7pro next year, it's my first time having a pixel.
Great review. Just upgraded to a pixel pro after having an s10e for 4 years and I'm loving this phone !
Very realistic & down to earth review, thank you :) I have a 6 and it's so good having it, that I want to have a seven just out of.. thanks, or idk. Ditched my huawei and my iphone. Walked around with both for 2 years or so, because I used on or the other depending what I need. Pixel just threw them both useless compared to what it can do... But I'm one of those guys running their phones to the max. Going from 10 hours long timelapses, to constant use of the assistant, location sharing etc etc "The smartest smartphone" I loved that :D
I can’t believe it’s been five years since the Pixel 2 launched. I remember it being super unique and special for the time. Really feel old now.
Strap in soon we'll be 60 talking about how we all owned an S3 when there's an s68
We are old bro
Yea right , can’t believe it honestly
Lol where my HTC G1 homies at!?
because of 5 years ago? i was an adult when i used my first cellphone, it was a motorola with an antenna you pull out
Thanks for the review; I was mainly looking for how big the two are and deciding based off of that, but your last statement just cleared it up for me: I'll be going with the 7. BTW, it's _aluminium,_ not "aluminum"; this issue was resolved over 30 years ago.
Love my Pixel 7, definitely a big improvement over the 6. PSA, when playing some games, if you notice fps choppy then disable smooth display then start the game, it should fix the issue.
After 5 years on iOS it was time to come home. Pixel 7 has sold me on Android once again.
The biggest problems for the Pixel 7 for me is the brightness slider being slightly off axis (you have to move the slider at the bottom half of it to actually get it to work 80% of the time...) and the performance of the Tensor 2 chip on some games is not great, it spits our frame rate errors on games like Dokkan, hardly the most intensive game in the Store. But the photo unblurring, the live text translations and the stellar cameras - I'm loving the Pixel 7 so far and hope it lasts a good few years for me.
I bought this phone a few months ago as a replacement to my Samsung based upon this review. It is indeed a wonderful phone with great features. Sadly, after 3 months I am going back to Samsung. There has been an ongoing and apparently insolvable problem with the Mobile Hotspot feature, This is incredibly frustrating because this is otherwise a superior phone, but I need to have a reliable mobile hotspot on my phone.
for patient pixel people who prefer pristine programming and pretty pictures the pixel pro is pretty perfect ✨
Is this what it means to be "pushing P"?
how is the wireless debugging?
I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS COMMENT AFTER I HEARD IT 😂😂
Calm down Jerry Rig Everything
I’m scrolling through the comments like I can’t be the only one who noticed this!
Thanks for this excellent video about the Pixel 7 Pro, it has been instrumental in me buying one - especially for the 50mp camera - the photos are good but none of them come out at 50mp - usually 12.5mp with very small file sizes - I contacted the help link in the camera settings, and wonderfully they rang me straight away - an amazing service - the lady explained that the 50mp photos are automatically compressed to 12.5mp when you look at them. They look good on my screen but for printing I think the small file sizes are a real contraint. Does anyone know of a workaround ?
I recently switched from Apple to Android. And I've been using Samsung for a little while and I've always had issues with it not feeling minimalistic enough or I feel like the software isn't always as smart as I want it to be and I've always used Google products for my smart home. So this is just a no-brainer to buy a pixel. I've never owned a pixel but I use Google everything so I'm pretty excited to pick this up.
@Wadderfock the funny thing is I did my research and played with a pixel and some "stock" Android phones and it gave me a new appreciation for my Samsung phone lol
I don't understand people's desire for minimalism. iPhone is so minimal it's missing a lot of basic functionality (to me) that Android has. I want a phone that does A LOT, and I don't mind the complexity or configuration. That being said, the Pixel 6 is a great middle-road between capability and simplicity.
I can't believe the price drop in both these just now! I was looking at them last weekend I'm looking for a change this year from my beloved Samsungs! I was interested in the Pixel 7pro till I seen the price that is now I'm thinking if they are this cheap there maybe not the best?
I'm considering a new phone (currently using LG G7) and I definitely like the Pixel 7s but the main issue that I have is that I want the features and tech on the Pro in the size and finish of the regular 7 :D
Excellent, excellent review. One of the most intelligent reviewers out there...convinced me to pull the trigger on a7 Pro. Left Samsung in the dust and not looking back.
"Photo unblurring" was literally my final project in "image processing" course (Electrical Engineering). You basically need to find two parameters: Power - How strong is the blur, meaning - how far was the pixel moved from its original place. Angle - The angle of the pixels movement in a coordinate system There is some math going to achieve that, you have to make a Fourier transform to the image to change it into the "frequency domain", then find the angle and the length of the "strips" that you are getting from the image, and viola! you just calculated the two parameters that you need. Now you have to make another Fourier transform to return to the "time domain". With the 2 parameters you have just calculated, you can reverse the process of the blurring effect. TBH, I'm not working as a signal processing engineer, but as a DevOps Engineer :)
What's a DevOps engineer
Do you mean "an Inverse Fourier Transform" is needed to return to "time-domain".
Sorry to correct but it s voila*
Hey @jordan let me if you have any devops openings😁
You are awesome Marques! Great, very clear and informative review! Love your delivery! Thank you!
Upgraded to the P7 from the P6 and absolutely loving it. Keeping my Pixel 5 as a backup. Something special about that little guy.
@Phyuck Yu i ended up getting it because the trade in value for the pixel 5 is $400 and the phone is $499... Seemed like a good deal. The size difference is better than I thought
Got amy bugs on the 7?
@Phyuck Yu I wish they brought that back. I have the Pixel 5 too, and one of the reasons I hesitate to upgrade (besides the fact my phone still works great) is that I know I'm going to miss the finger print in the back
@Velrethar finger print on the back was the perfect place for it. Why someone thought under the screen would be better I’ll never understand
Yeah, finger print on the back, and smaller size is great! Debating on upgrading though...
Just received the 7pro coming from an LG v60 and I am empressed so far. Only thing it's dropped like 4 calls. Not sure if it's the phone or Verizon but I have not experienced a drop call in over 6 years🤔
The biggest bug I have is not being able to use straight talk Verizon sim. It's frustrating for sure since I'm bouncing back and forth between Google and Straight talk support.
Thanks for all your hard work it really shows keep it up! Hope everyone apperciates the time he spends on his content!
Scammer Alert
The unblur feature is really impressive. It's amazing to see technology is still evolving.
@Πάνος Then it is not the S7 .. it is you since I have an A7 tab which I used as a remote desktop manager for CAD and DavinciResolve and have never seen that message.
@Πάνος Ironically enough you implied Android is a follower.. while every single feature I mentioned is being adopted really slowly by the fruit devices..
@Πάνος No.. you were the one saying Androids need 12GB..
@In Aere Ediflcare my s7fe has 3.5 gb of ram and I always get notifications that I’m running low on memory, I bet if I had an iPad this wouldn’t be the case.
@In Aere Ediflcare where do I even start , you completely ignored my point of android being crap because it doesn’t even run on a native language and started listing random gimmicks present in specific android brands
Thanks Marques! Was already shooting to get the phone but this review solidified that I was getting it on release day! loving it so far. Definitely a massive upgrade from a galaxy s9 lol.
RIP galaxy S9. Definitely getting this phone.
I'm still using my Pixel 3a. I've had some problems with it in the past but for the most part it's pretty stable. I did stop receiving regular updates, but to be honest I don't really care that much. It works and I've got no reason to switch
I actually moved from a S21 ultra to a pixel 7 pro and its been a great decision. I find a lot of Samsung's' phones have so much bloat ware on it where as the pixel doesn't have much if any.
@Christian Figuroa yes obviously lol
@Guillermo Valenzuela I don't really know. I don't use my camera alot but I think it's very good. Pixels have always been at the top when it comes to their phones.
@Guillermo Valenzuela I'll answer you in a couple days when i get my new phone!
Is the Pixel 7 camera better than S21 ?
Can you run apps while on a call
Thank you for this! I got the Pixel 7 Pro today. I'm excited to start using all the features. I'm not great at tech. So I appreciate this video

Pairing Pixel 7 with sensors is a problem (I have Polar H10). Transitioning from iPhone environment to Pixel7 is pluses and minuses - but I like 50Mp camera a lot (360 deg panoramas, unblurr, etc). Maps work in a funny way - don't like 3D mode.
@piotrmarianna please share more of your thoughts, am too switching from iPhone to pixel!
Yea, gotta 12 pro max, thinking bout the pixel 7
The performance is better, but just if u use apple and use a lot of social media than is iPhone just a lot better. But I prefer android for other stuff
@Nunya Beeswax legit me rn too 😭
I’m considering switching from iPhone 12 Pro Max. I’ve been on iPhone since 2015. Id love to get your honest feedback.
The fingerprint reader is *definitely* much improved this year. Way more reliable, speed is good. It doesn't "instantly" capture your fingerprint like a supersonic reader, but it's almost as fast overall if you keep your finger there for a couple more milliseconds. Much improved over the pixel 6.
My Pixel 6 Pro fingerprint sensor has greatly improved since launch. I don't have any issues with it, and I don't plan on upgrading to the P7P.
Does it work under tempered glass screen protector?
Personally, I miss the reader on the back of the phone. This one is nice though.
@e.m. newland I stopped using the Pixel 6 entirely for exactly that reason. Made me cross every time I picked it up and tried to unlock
It's not improved, they didn't put it back where it belongs. Da hell?
Excellent reviewe MKB. If Google can just stick to this winning formula innovative software with understated hardware. They will be back in the race.
I absolutely love how you described speech to text, and what it could do, while doing it at the same time. So useful. 5:10
I went from iPhone 13 to Pixel 7 and love it.
These have been some of the realest reviews i have seen for the Pixel and iPhone. I was trying to figure out if i wanted to upgrade from my Pixel 5 to the Pixel 7 or jump ship and try the iPhone 14. After watching the iPhone 14 video, and this , they both seem just iterative changes. There is nothing in the Pixel 7 or android that blows me away, and the iPhone is just a 13. Maybe when the iPhone swaps to Type C next year they will have some better changes.
I have been following for quite a time. Was in huge dilemma with One Plus 10T/Pro, Samsung Ultra, IPhone 14 ProMax and eventually Pixel 7 Pro entered. Have been researching on for almost a month now and couldnt come to any conclusion. finally after seeing your video, I made my decision to go with Pixel 7 Pro ( move from One Plus, have been a OnePlus user for 4-5 years until now ). Thanks for great explanation.
What do you think of your phone? I had OnePlus 8pro and loved it. I’m back with Apple now but is the pixel worth it?

What would have been your choice for anything under $999 ?
Regular 7 is crazy value for the pre order package. 7 and Pixel Buds Pro for 599 is great. Also the flat screen and matte aluminium is both the better design and the more practical choice.
Flat screen is actually not better than a slightly curved screen since you have to swipe from the edges frequently to get to the settings/notifications etc. But the matte finish on the 7 definitely looks better.
@QiireX Ohh no, pixel experience rom does not mean you get all of the goodies of pixels or a pixel experience. You can only get "close" to a pixel by a pixel ripped gsi.
Curved displays are really good for gestures usually it felts more premium than flat screens, ig google know there is a general trend for hating curved displays, thats why pixel 7 pro is less curved than 6 pro.
I don't think so. I have pixel 6 and it works same as poco x3 pro running pixel experience rom. Phones are not impressive this generation.
@Mike B Word.
I watched bunch of reviews of Pixel 7 and at last watched MKBHD review. There is a reason why this Channel is way ahead of others. You won't find such a well detailed review with some technical explanations anywhere else. Thanks MKBHD.

Honestly I did not think I wanted to swap phones but the Pixel 7 here in sweden atm is on such a good deal that I might upgrade from my OP 7t Pro that now in the latest month been acting weird. I just needed to rewatch this review to be sure.
I am considering getting a 14 pro max or a pixel 7 pro. The 14 pro max doesn't have Type-C and the pixel 7 pro has AirPlay, which I like to use with my home stereo. On the other hand, the availability of service is very important if you are buying a device at this price. If the Pixel breaks, I'll be forced to just throw it away since there is no official service in my country.
I've never had a phone break before tbh. Unless you drop it but then its usually the screen which can be replaced many places i guess
Went from P6 to P7 Pro, and I definitely found that the fingerprint sensor is noticeably faster and more accurate.
I love my two Pixel 7 phones. Best phones I have to date. The only issue I am having is when I put the phone down or change from portrait to landscape view there sometimes it's a notification sound that goes "Da Ding." I have no idea why this happens and I have tried to disable every notification sound I could find on the device. I am in a unique position because I have two of the same phones. For a while it only happened on my work phone but now it's happening on my personal phone as well. The issue arises when I'm watching a video and I switch from portrait to landscape it will pause the video and make that sound. One time it was doing it upon each time I moved the phone which made my IPhone using friend laugh at me. Anyone else having this issue? Any possible solutions?
Amazing alliteration at the end! I took a chance and preordered the 7 Pro before the embargo was lifted, I'm glad to see there are no glaring problems at this point. It will be a great upgrade from my aging Pixel 4 XL.
Pixel 2XL here lol, anyone? Upgrading to 7 pro is very tempting but i'm a light user and my 2xl running android 11 is a real warrior. I don't feel like i'm missing out on anything. Still a great battery and snapy performance with 4go of ram 128gb of storage. I've seen other 2XLs that suck but mine is exceptional, maybe cuz i don't play games.
That amazing alliteration reminded me of Mr. Mobile!
@Sasuke Uchiha Whaaat no way I didn't know that, but then again google doesn't offer Zero-knowledge encryption which means that upon the request of the government or let's say a rogue google employee can access your photos from their servers. :( that's why I use mega cloud.
@TITAN productions for Pixel 4 and earlier phones they have unlimited photo storage in Google photos in original quality. Newer phones only get unlimited storage in a lower quality or a certain GB capacity of photo backup if I remember correctly.
@myNEONCITY What's the unlimited photo storage ? Google doesn't have that and neither does Samsung.
Amazing alliteration and, as always, awesome articulation!
I'm a Samsung guy but I love the ecosystem Google is creating. Its not quite where Apple and Samsung have been at but I see a lot of potential. Now I only wish Android manufacturers could make a Face ID competitor. I love my S22 Ultra but needing a fingerprint for all my secure apps makes me frustrated because my job absolutely destroys my hands so unless I want to add a new fingerprint every few days, its a big annoyance. Face ID on my iPhone XR is amazing but thats more of a device I use for fun. Other than that issue, I'm absolutely in love with everything Android is doing these days.
I like the way you give accurate descriptions not just flag shipping one phone thanks.
Just a few hours using the 7 and I love it. The only reason I got it was cause of the great trade in deal and my baby hands got tired of the slippery 6pro. The 7 feels great on my hand
@Yorgen for the 6pro I got around $500
How much value did you got for your pixel trade in? I'm thinking of trading my pixel 4 xl for a 7 pro .. but not sure if the value will be worth it..... In my case!
Love the alliteration wordplay at the end 😂 Awesome review, as usual, Marques and team!

@goldwind bruh, how did you spot that
it's even foreshadowed if you look at his searches at 4:26 lol
The AI keeps getting better and better. I finally traded in my Pixel 2XL recently. I do miss one thing from that device......the rear finger print reader. It was so much more natural to use. Oh well!!
@Romeo Moore ❤️
@Kieren Summers I am very pleased and have been excited about the upgrade, it comes down to what you are looking for. If you have that option to upgrade I would say why not, a fresh start.
@Romeo Moore you happy with the change? I've got a cracked screen on my 5... Tossing up to pay a couple hundred for a new screen... Vs pixel 7
@Kieren Summers I got the Pixel 7 Pro now
I agree, pick it up and 'home' it in your hand. Much like a keyboard with the indexing nubs on F and J. I'll also miss the one on this pixel 3xl when my new 7 arrives October 21st :)... oh well
Thank you!!! You are my go-to for tech reviews! Always straight to what I need to know.
@marques. I gotta say, you're reviews are easily my favorite. One thing I disagreed with. The fingerprint sensor is new and it is MUCH better. I'm diabetic and when my skin is dry, the 6Pro was difficult to unlock due to my print not being very defined. Now with the 7Pro, it unlocked every single time, perfectly. I'm surprised at how quickly it unlocks 50% of the time because I know on my 6Pro I would have needed to reposition or use my PIN instead. Now it's instant and I haven't a single instance where it didn't unlock immediately.
It would be nice if google released an ultra version for 1199, with a beefier processor, ultrasonic fingerint sensor, a more sophisticated ltpo to save more battery and if they could make video better somehow
My S20 FE has so many features to make photos better. From anti-blur, to enhancing photo's and all the fun stuff. Google sounds like every company that wants to sell a "feature" as only available on their shiny new device, but it's available almost everywhere else too
I don't watch your channel much but SO glad that you're getting the recognition that you deserve!
I really like Google‘s approach with these phones. The future-oriented features thanks to the tensor chips for a competitive price especially with the Pixel 7 is a really great deal. The mix of great photos enhanced with AI and the rest of the AI stuff is probably one of the highest ranked points on the wish list of the everyday consumer. Great work!

Would have loved to hear more on the call quality since they made a point highlighting that in their presentation! :)

This single review (along with other reviewers) did sell me for the Google Pixel 7. As I am typing this, I am using my new Pixel, and I'm upgrading to a S10.
I'm on a very old Pixel atp, the Pixel 3aXl and honestly my phone still works amazing. If I didn't have such low storage I'd prob still stick with it, but it seems like imma get the 7 soon enough
Be warned: I went from Pixel 3 to Pixel 7 and I'm disappointed in the camera big time (at times WORSE than my Pixel 3)
