I'm so sorry about your sister. I can't imagine going through a death like that (except for my dog and my grandpa). Everyone deals with death differently. For me, it's just easy to shut people out and to keep things to myself (which I've realized is very unhealthy). All we can do is to find people to talk to that can help us get over that grief. Just remember that she'll always be with you in spirit and will never leave. She's in a better place now. Again, I truly am sorry about your sister! If you ever need to talk, I'm here for you! 🙏💔

Honestly, I haven't hit my 30s yet and i can already feel the mood deep in my soul. Birthdays seem to stop being so magical when you don't feel so much like a kid anymore, but that doesn't mean birthdays have to be miserable either. You can always just appreciate that somehow out of all the possibilities that could've been, _you_ were the one that made it to reality. Life is a gift, no matter who it might be from, and there are ways to enjoy that gift without all the busy fanfare of celebrations. Happy Birthday, Sean. You might be a year older, but that just means you've experienced even more happy times and made even more memories to cherish than you had last year.

@Acronimh Depends how much you value it. To many, their birthday is just a sign of getting older - a reminder that their life is limited. I personally never do much for my birthday, and I'm okay with that. Also because it's on Christmas eve I never the get the chance to actually celebrate with any of my friends on my birthday since everyone is always busy. This most recent birthday was the first time I'd seen a friend ON my birthday in 22 years. My friend just came round to mine for a quick chat and then she went home, and me and my mum went bowling earlier in the day, but that's all we did.

I feel like after 22 this is the mood for birthdays. You don't really wanna do anything, but you do wanna acknowledge it and maybe use it as an excuse to do something for yourself. I'm turning 27 in may. Getting older is a neutral experience. The "I haven't done what I thought I should've by now" thoughts are something you can have any day.
