i was laughing at that for two whole minutes, then said silently "Does that answer your question?" then kept giggling
I love how both games have you being led by a former king of Hyrule, also its interesting that in BOTW you are led on the Great Plateau by the last King of Hyrule and in Tears of the Kingdom you are led on the Great Sky Island by the first king of Hyrule.

Imagine facing near death, twice, and both times you wake a dead king sends you to collect power from four different shrines.
Link, probably: "If I had a blue rupee for every time I woke up in an unfamiliar place with a mysterious voice talking to me, I would have two blue rupees. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice."

When I first completed the journey to the Wind Temple, I danm near cried because I'd never get to experience that for the first time ever again. BotW had a pretty grand scale, but this was downright mythical.
You know I never thought about it until this moment, but ganon being sealed here means darkbeast/calamity ganon is just a residual essence, a shadow of his true self.
And this essentially means in age of calamity 2 might be a thing

Whether it’s “right” or not, Eric was objectively on the wrong side of the law. Moon Channel has a good video breaking down the legal side of this whole kerfuffle.
@Eroraf86 To be fair, they went a little further than was neccessary to tell pointcrow that he shouldn't have done that. They ended up copyright striking EVERYTHING he had that was BOTW, even the vanilla playthrough if i remember right. They could've done a lot less damage to his channel and still gotten the point across. I'm not saying he was in the right, i'm just saying nintendo went wayyyy overboard with their response personally.

when a game gives you anxiety at the beginning, that's how you know it's gonna be a good game
this game just does such a good job at being welcoming to newcomers but still manage to reward those who played the first game
34:38 The giggle here is wonderful and the epitome of what this entire game feels like whenever you figure some new goofy combination of items and abilities out.
Fun fact about the Boss! You can just dive through it when it starts shooting the spikes. You can figure this out on the way up to the dungeon by diving through the various ice patches to get to some of the ship sails/trampolines! Doing it this way was such an awesome way to beat the boss. I didn't have to fire a single arrow and just got to dive full speed through the spikes it was shooting to pierce the weak points with Link himself. Such an awesome experience!
that's how I did it too! One of my fav boss battles ever. Such a fun mechanic

I figured it out because I just straight up ran out of arrows lol, then just started diving at the boss, and even rising up from under it, though that was way harder

Tip for anyone playing this, you can shield grind on rails (The ones youre supposed to use the hooks on) and if you combine a shield with a minecart you can not only shield surf like its a skateboard but you can also grind on the mine rails. youre welcome

I ran out of arrows, so my plan was to land on the weak points and smash them with a club or something. When I just went straight through, the plan changed.

If anyone’s wondering, meat arrows lure enemies to a specific location.
All arrows do that
@Derpi Derpimeat arrows distract them more because they stop to pick up the meat and eat it. this is actually how i tamed my first horse bc I couldn’t sneak up on it for the life of me😭 I attached an apple to the arrow and shot it in front of the horse, then got on it while it was distracted eating

@Katelin Alpaca same lmaoo I spent so long trying to tame another horse in TOTK and then when I tried to register it in a stable turns out my FERRARI that I also spent a lots of time trying to tame in BOTW was literally just sitting there waiting for me :)))))))))))
I like how most of the new abilities are kinda inproved versions of the Breath Of the Wild abilities like how Ultra Hand is a stronger Magnesis alllowing you to move almost anything and also combine stuff.
This game is worth every penny I spent on it. It's crazy how much work and game design was put into this. Truly deserves it's title as game of the year
Fun story from my play through, when I was doing the gerudo temple I lost a lot of hearts and couldn’t load back far enough to get out and heal, I was stuck in the temple for three days

The best thing about this game is: everybody has another experience. My daughter and i are playing the game and we are at totally different places after playing the same time.
I love how this game is more about your creative ways of getting through puzzles and challenges rather than discovering the "correct" way to get through the puzzles. So genius! Also, future speedrunning tactic discovered at 19:52
Two things I learned about Totk in this video: a: If you fuse a monster’s horn to your weapon, it replaces the blade of the weapon. b: Zelda Geoguessr exists.
Some of the monster horn blades are pretty cool, my favorites are the lizalfos ones, specifically the blue one

I think puzzle wise the Wind temple is the weakest but the whole asthetic and buildup and everything surrounding it is so sick! My favourite of these Stories overall is propably the gerudo one tho, I LOVED that one

I'm watching this back 3 weeks post launch, man we've come so far in the last few weeks as a community, but coming back to this day 1 content and watching the reaction live, watching the chat go absolutely apeshit over everything, and then the first time Link jumps off the island and the game feints the Breath of the Wild music with those piano notes but then it instantly builds into this HUGE orchestral soundtrack, I could literally cry man. We're all a part of something so huge and we're journeying together, the years of Zonai theories beforehand, the endless months of hype and anticipation over the release, and finally the date drops... May the 12th 2023... Now here we are, idk about y'all but TOTK Hyrule already feels like it has anchored a place deep, deep in my heart. This game is so, so much more than a game, it's a story, it's a cultural explosion, it's an adventure, and all under the umbrella of one of the greatest ever communities/fandoms, the Zelda community. I freaking love all you guys, I freaking love this game and this franchise, I feel so damn lucky to have grown up with Zelda and to be a young adult today, to be able to enjoy TOTK in the best way possible. Now I gotta fly over to Hateno to meet Robbie, he boutta give my Purah Pad the shrine sensor lesgooooo (aye I'm a slow player haha, y'all probably already done all 4 regions, I just got done with my first hahah, taking my time just like with BOTW!) Let's do this again in another 6 years in anticipation of the next Zelda **drumroll** ON NEW HARDWARE!! I can only dream man...
I have already spent over 150 hours in this game and just watched this now, yet it's so entertaining. I'm both sitting here with goosebumps and the biggest smile. Can't wait to quadruple my hours!

Fun fact about Colgera. If you dont have arrows or have issues with the drop of arrows for hitting him. If you paraglide above him he will shoot the spikes off his back at you revealing the weak spot and you can jump attack through him to deal damage.

From what I remember from BOTW the 10,000 year ago war was fought by a knight and a princess. So Rauru’s era was so much earlier than that and that’s so crazy to me.
At the earliest point in Skyward Sword, when you travel to "the distant past" (relative to the rest of the game, which is the first in the timeline) there is already "the Imprisoned" so I'd guess the imprisoning war is at least another 1,000 to 10,000 years before *that*. Zelda lore operates at an insane timescale.

@H x No, This game retcons Skyward sword, BOTW and this are their own thing The imprisoning war here is Raru and the Sages vs Ganondorf, The war in Skyward sword is Hylia vs Demise
@Jesus Ramirez Romo Well, not retcon. Skyward Sword and Botw/TotK just happen many, many thousands of years apart. And we know Hyrule got destroyed and reconstructed more than once.

1:29:18 Another cool detail is that the spirit version thingy of Tulin has the Great Eagle Bow in gameplay since Tulin gets it from Teba, but in this cutscene, Tulin doesn’t have it yet, so the spirit has the same bow

This is a 10/10 game! Not because it released EXACTLY on my birthday, but because of the things they added/replaced in this Breath Of The Wild engine re-used game! Oh, and there's a challenge to it because of that as well!
Fun Fact: when you first descend to the surface, you can land on a lily pad without damage. Link also does a cool 3-point landing!

I love how the eerie music gets more intense as you get closer to the mummy. It makes everything feel so much creepier!

Once you do the wind temple and Rito village returns to normal, theres a few songs that play. two of which are the regular version, and a "new" version of dragon roost island from Wind Waker!! love that they finally connected the too since Wind Waker was the first to introduce the Rito if my memory serves correctly.
My boyfriend and I played this over the weekend and I’m still not over the eerie music in the beginning it was AMAZING! We’ve been having so much fun so far!🤗
Gotta love how you jumped off the island out of solidarity for a tremendously long stick called Fredrick with whom you shared many adventures. And then you went on to do the second shrine in the tutorial section of the game that's how much fun you can have in this game.

If y'all don't remember, Hoz was the soldier guy patrolling East Akkala Stable in botw who first told you about Kilton. I remembered him the first time his name was mentioned by Purah in totk, but nobody else seems to remember who he is, so I thought I'd alert you if you didn't know! I love that they kept certain characters from botw and gave them new roles to fit into, and sometimes more important roles too, like Hoz, who seems to be pretty important so far! It's a little nod to the people who played botw, and it's great!
I love how you can recognize certain NPCs in the game when they come up again here. I remember encountering the twin treasure hunters from Dueling Peaks Stable somewhere else in the world, that felt so cool

I love the voices they chose for some of the Characters. Fun facts: The voice actor for Purah is the same as the voice actor for Sakura from Naruto (Kate Higgins), and the voice actor for Tulin is the same voice actor for Killua from HunterXHunter (Cristina Vee)

@Too poo not necessarily, the ceilings in the depths are way to high and if you use ascend on the light root it never takes you to the top just on another portion of the root

The story of the Sages made me really cry. I know the sages are in all games but not in BotW not my name and hearing that really hit hard.
For the wind temple when you have to stick those two rocks to make a lil fan that opens the door I spun it manually then reversed it and walked through. I didn't use tulins power. It's so cool the versatility you can put into everything you do in the game, you really do things your way.

1:22:07 I rotated the stone pieces by hand for a few seconds and then used the time ability to reverse their motion while I ran up the ladder, totally didn't occur to me that I could use the wind ability there.

Loved watching your reaction to the opening. Its rly good!
Whenever I see playthroughs of this game, I look at the cutscene where the guy just LIFTS THE ENTIRE CASTLE. And I laugh so unbelievably hard. Imagine just some guy deciding: "Nahhhh, I ain't want your castle no more." And then he just tosses it into the stratosphere.
It took me playing through a few hours and watching this playthrough to understand that everyone is saying gloom zaps your health and if you get hurt by gloom you lose max hearts to connect that with why Link only has three hearts now 🤦♀️ so when you gain hearts back from Goddess statues, really she’s just expelling gloom from you and you’re getting them back!
It's the same with stamina. Link had a full three stamina wheels at the beginning (I ran around really quick and discovered that little tidbit). So Gloom also sapped stamina since he's back down to one wheel after he wakes.
Whenever you get a new heart or stamina vessel you can also see gloom leaving your body
@GamingReader also in the description for the heart containers and stamina vessels, it said that you reclaimed some of the power you "lost to the gloom."
So why can’t sunnny food cure it and being in the sun
@Portia C that’s where the shrines come in! Rauru explains that they made them specifically to expel darkness/provide light (or something like that) and that’s why the gloom rises off the arm after you complete a shrine and you get an orb which can be exchanged for your health/stamina back. Edit: I’m pretty sure the reason it sapped us completely is the same reason mummy dude was able to break the master sword (and every other weapon apparently). Mummy is way stronger than anything else we encounter in the deep, so that stuff is just temporary (if you have the right stuff) whereas his affects are more permanent.
So wild seeing the beginning of the game again after just going through these rooms in the ending.
