čas přidán 2. 06. 2021
Right now the world is dependent on Taiwan for silicon semiconductors called chips, which give devices like iPhones their functionality. This reliance has the U.S. and China both racing for technological independence.

    • Biggest stolen country USA go back Europe

    • Well-done Bloomberg, best reporting ive seen in a while and i'm from this industry.

    • TSMC equipments made by US/Foreign tech, including Applied Materials, ASML, each worth 100MM+.

    • China's area include a island which named TaiWan ,please fix the incomplete section of China on the 'chip map 'or change 'china' to china mainland in the video's title.

  • but US has actual chip supremacy.

  • Taiwan is China we all are Moors

  • I'll buy your 2080ti, hmu.

  • AAAAAAAAnnd it was all fake. Tsinghua Unigroup is dead.

  • America is not bothered by the growth of China instead its the reputation of a “cheap copy cat” or “am the boss” attitude that bothers everyone. If you are really ambitious, try to work hard and invent stuff not steal information and clone it. It’s a slap on the face for the person or organization that took years to put there minds and time to invent things.

  • TRUMP 2024

  • It's simple really - move manufacturing bases to India. India is a huge market, and resource mine for such operations and in fact, double whammies by solving the political stand-off between USA|Taiwan vs. China.

  • I thought Pringles is the best

  • Silicon based Chip has reached its Limit. Now, go alternate direction, it is time to use Carbon, Graphene Chip.

  • I think they are too late on technology transfer mate…

  • TSMC is 20 years ahead of all chip manufacturers. They can hold the world hostage.

  • When China puts its mind on something, it will succeed. Within 5-10 years, China will either catch up with the rest of the filed or surpassing it. China is poring a lot of money into carbon-based chips to replace silicon-based chips. Carbon-based chips will perform better than silicon-based chips which is nearing its performance limit.

    • football, jet engine comparable to RR, GE, Pratt Whitney.. OS comparable to windows Microsoft,..

  • "Annual NPC meeting" 😂😂😂

  • Japan needs to step up their silicon semiconductor game. They have been sleeping the last 20 years.

    • The US forced Japan to cut their exports of chips because the US couldn't compete. Then the 90s economic crisis in Japan happened and that ended up more or less killing the industry.

    • @VINCENT SONG how?

    • The US killed Japan's semiconductor industry in the 1980s.

  • we must not let China makes the leap, else what happened in HK and Xinjiang will come to the rest of the world

  • The USA will get a dose of their own medicine one day.

  • 6:59 - "So we're all familiar with the example of Huawei whose smartphone business has basically been....essentially obliterated by US sanctions." Why the hyperbole? Huawei's phone sales have taken a beating. A dent in their market share, not doubt. But obliterated? "Journos" these days can just mouth themselves off without any check. Motormouths they may be reporting on business and finance but no prize for guessing why they can't make it in finance where people put their money where their mouths are.

  • This is an advertisement for TSMC.

  • stop making chips for cell phones for atleast 6 months, use the supply of phones up and then get the rest of the world more supplied!

  • If you can’t beat them, ban them !!

  • 60 minutes Austrailia doesn't have the guts to leave their comments on for a kinetic war with china special. So FT - and thank YOU!

  • Taiwan 🇹🇼 is a proud independent country and we Australians all recognise thus stay with Taiwan to stand against the devil CCP Spread the message and show them what thousands of CS-tv and social media members can do !!!

  • The map! Taiwan is part of China!

  • Why are China bothering the world will boycott anything Chinese built it can't be trusted by the world. Plus Chinese products are a world wide joke so are wasting time & money.

  • How is this guy from BLOOMBERG speaking into what sounds like his AirPods? Please get a better mic, also for your sake.

  • Jesus, its actually called a NPC, that's gotta be a meme

  • I guess doing a video about ASML isn't sexy because they're not that important or there isn't much geopolitical talk about the Netherlands.

  • Chinese needs to manufacture reusable chip which will open a new windows .

  • The various thread presumably vanish because cake pragmatically sin barring a measly plate. woebegone, high-pitched book

  • China has to be self reliance since USA start the tech war. They have to move forward, so the have to be self reliance not supremicies. Keep it up China.

  • Weapons and technology are nice, I suppose. Too bad those chips aren’t suitable for human nutrition.

  • only 5% of the chips need are for 5nm.

  • China auto makers have no chip shortages! China will be producing 7nm chips by end on 2022, and will be supplying the world from domestic production! ' The US boycotts and restrictions have totally backfired and forced China to become the world leader in production.

    • @Damian Jf Does China manufacture many semiconductors?

    • @Anomize23 their most important Chip companyes are growing very fast dude

    • Their chip company went bankrupt lol

  • Taiwan is eaten by you?

  • Didn't know philippines was involved in iPhone manufacturing. Lol😁

  • China can buy talent, but they can't build leading edge industries with it because of the CCP. All interesting and valuable IP ends up ripped off by the SOEs and their innovators end up like Jack Ma. Any threat to the party, real or imagined, is stifled...or worse.

  • Actually US can use for example Globalfoundries for F35 and maybe even all military applications(due to the relatively small size of military applications market) or even companies like Intel and Texas Instruments and Samsung Fab in Texas and other much smaller specialty foundries in the US(there are already some specialty foundries in Florida and Minnesota and some other states; mainly focused on military applications) so The US military doesn't have to be dependent on TSMC or any other foreign Foundry unless it deliberately tends to do so.

  • China does not want to dominate at the beginning, but the US forced China to do it.

  • I'm waiting for it to be less than 1nm or -1Nm🤔

  • no wonder recently USA wants to move TSMC factories to USA. Without TSMC, taiwan is not worth defending for

  • The best solution is to build another TSMC factory in the USA.

    • How do you staff it tho. Building it is easy, American workers just don’t have the skills

  • Corporate Greed drove all of these employment possibilities out of the United States.

  • build gpus then China is far even outdated ones.... you have to start somewhere

  • The wrathful population decisively sail because pendulum neurally knit atop a subdued touch. humdrum, damaging minute

  • So basically, we could go to war, and everyone loses. Or we could go to cooperation, and everyone wins. But if everyone wins, the politicals and guns corporations will have less necessity.

  • China is desperate to develope its Chip manfucturig experitise and end its reliance on the USA , Japan and Taiwan. This is the reason it's intent on asserting its dominance over Taiwan, it wants TSMC. But the Taiwanese, having witnessed China roll back freedom and the rule of law in Hong Kong will have no part of it. China is a bully with an inferiority complex. But don't worry, Taiwan has very advanced weaponry, thanks to the US and the US would come to its aid. If China were foolish enough to attack, its forces would obliterated before any solder set foot in Taiwanese soil.

  • section 230 needs to be updated to regulate ai and algorithms on social media. now they have immunity and nobody can sue them even if they put profits over public safety knowingly. Facebook stopped their own research into how it exacerbated extremism because it was deemed "anti-growth" .

  • The middle kingdom needs a reboot and broken into 5 pieces.

  • video translation: China should attack Taiwan now and absorb it into China. The benefits will be huge and hurt US competitors. It's a win-win for China. There's very little downside to absorbing Taiwan. KMT lost the civil war and they shouldn't have been allowed to retreat to Taiwan. I hope China doesn't invade, but just trying to see it from CCP/China's perspective and their benefits. I doubt the US will nuke China. It will be a bloodless invasion.

  • china builds low quality bridges and and dams.

  • Dont you get people chinese communist used virus now is useing electronics to spy on you in your govements to steal all kind of datA. In you are falling like fools on his reds stop chi ese communist dog earters, cats all kind of animals eaters.

  • A scary message: Lack of strategic foresight in political leaders and dangerous dependence on the company that is the bottleneck of semiconductor manufacturing in the world. If the Chinese rulers decide tomorrow to nuke Taiwan, be ready to say hello to pre-modern era again.

  • Nice documentary

  • Awesome Thanks

  • no shuch thing as a private chinese company what is this guy even talking about

  • private american sector sold america to china the communist dictatorship

  • Congress has to step in to prevent intel from outsourcing all its chip manufacturing. If chip makings is a case for national security, it can’t all be made in a country across the Taiwan strait from China. Innovators may be next level in human evolution, but corporations and politicians are at Neanderthal levels. They are both too short sighted and greedy to care about the future of these United States.

  • US: when we can't compete with them we ban them. We call this security issue. Allies of US: yes, yes, boss.

  • China Can Ditch Their Dollar Monetary System.... US will be broke economically

  • You use the wrong map

  • This aged poorly. They just cut power to their chip manufacturers

  • That's why companies are downgrading their stuff...

  • Is time to start recycling & not sending them to another country's

  • India talks with tsmc is very crutial.

  • China does appear to have world class hackers, though....

  • Bipolarization of the world is the worst case scenario??? During the Cold War, humanity experienced the greatest scientific advancement in history and that was a direct product of bipolarization. That’s the best case scenario.

  • Do not be surprised if USA suddenly drops sanctions on computer chips to China because 5G and 6G controll by China may start to hurt USA in Stock Exchange dealer rooms of top Banks - profits come from being first to exploit wealnesd in market! The " outsider in the race" is a new base for chips replacing silicon - using super computers to spreed up development!. Taiwan - USA are terrified China will seize control of Taiwan and its chips production!.

  • This awkward scene of perfectly healthy adults using one-finger typing makes me cring. It would take only a few hours to acquire blind, all-finger mastery at the keybord, which would speed up the data entry manyfold. That would minimize eye-strain, neck fatigue and mental exhaustion resulting from the constant switching of the field of view from keybord to the screen. (see timestamp 13:13 )

  • China hasn't earned anything on their own so they don't take responsibility for it then you have global pandemic outbreaks and wonder why.

  • If China is smart they should not go to war with Taiwan, but TSMC by becoming world leader in chips to marginalize Taiwan.

  • The biggest chip manufacturer is hands down McDonald's

  • China places 1.4 trillion to enhance technology growth, meanwhile US spent 2.2 trillion on Afghan for nothing

    • Most of that money likely went right back to American contractors.

  • Taiwan will get invaded, but TSMC will keep on operating.

  • China need to look for weapons of mass destruction in Taiwan now and liberate the Taiwanese people

  • Asians, especially Viet Nam, China, Korea, Japan, super love our country. How China can recruit Taiwanese's staff? It's simple, they are still Chinese with a glorious history. The more education you have, the more contribution you want to give to your country. Westerners will never understand this kind of culture.

  • I have a restaurant the chef threatening to quit working and he said your store will be close without me, that 20 years ago, what do you think? it maybe it slowdown China progress but you can stop China to growth bigger and stronger. wake up and smell the coffee!

  • china will conquer this war USA IS DOOM CHINA IS A SUPERPOWER

  • 10:23 "NPC meeting", yup that's what people are in a dictatorship.

  • It's unlikely they can become competitive with communist control of their industry ...

  • Chinese are smart, China is rich. It's only matter of time that China becomes No.1 in the Chip industry of the entire world.

  • taiwan is a part of China. .......

  • Looking at China’s chip manufacturing technology in another five years, it will be shocked. China has the most talents in the world.

    • Can you provide 5 example of technology invented by those talented Chinese in China that has benefitted mankind?

  • Yet China’s biggest chip makers are going bankrupt, and they can’t manufacture next generation chips without the equipment from the USA (which are banned through US-led embargo).

  • TSMC and Samsung only got to where they are today because US forced Toshiba Semiconductors in the 80s to bankruptcy by making small changes to the software that made Japanese chips not work in export products as well as the Plaza Accord.

  • 封锁芯片对于中国不是坏事,五年后见分晓。China is not afraid of ban chips.

  • Makes sense on why Zhi wants Taiwan.

    • TSMC has factories in China.

  • This is some profusely coping piece.... The articles themselves name call like chinese regime failure Where did the professionalism go lol

  • humans will never unite , unless Aliens arrive

  • The defective deborah frequently handle because moustache ontogenically imagine opposite a condemned narcissus. sour, tiny propane

  • The fact is many countries collaborate to make sophisticated products, no single country can makes everything. US force China to develop on its own, not because China wants to.

  • Thanks to War Mongers, China is force to be independent.

  • Too much competition...😰😥😰

  • I wonder if the BBC will say China is aiming for Crisp Supremacy.

  • China is not a technical foe they are a COMMUNIST foe! The whole world hates communists even the average Chinese citizen hates their backward communism. They too understand that this "system" is there only to keep a handful of people in power. Like Xi Jinping and Kim Jong Un. 😂

    • @Leih Tory And therefore ?

    • Vietnam is still also a communist country and so is Cuba.

  • China is calmed they won't control the world. they just want to build up their eco system around rmb to gain the maximum profit. like US did.

  • If a third world country like China, refuse to work “996” than where else do we park or invest in cheap labour and tech at? 🤷‍♂️

  • No more iPhone... Say no more fam.

  • Now I understand why the US wants to protect Taiwan against China.

  • we may not catch up making these types of chips, but we ll make next gen type of chips instead. lucky we have atom bombs to keep u.s from invading. lucky and pround to be中国人
