When I was younger I couldn’t sleep, this song would play on the radio on the night table next to my head as I looked out my window. I was a loner at the time and and had no friends in middle school to high school. "I try to run but see I'm not that fast. I think I'm first but I'm surely I finish last. Last." takes me back to when I was on the track team, and I was not good at all and either fell due to anxiety or came in last. I also had a crush on a girl on the team and went through my whole "nice guy" phase trying to impress her which gives double meaning. This song was like a lullaby to me.
