This is who’s she’s always been. When she first started singing, she had to get peoples attention by being creative and artistically over the top. She set the tone of the 2010s. Every pop star starting trying to out do her. But Gaga was always 20 steps ahead. Now she can get on the stage and be stripped down and people actually hear her. I find it funny that all us little monsters always knew this but the rest of the world never got it. I’m glad she showed this to the world. I remember when she came out as Jo Calderone at the mtv music awards. She was telling an honest dialogue and every celebrity in that room was so confused. I understood that back then that was the only way she could tell her story and hold everyone’s attention.

@Cat Girl are you referring to Lina Morgana? Yes that was very tragic. There is 0 proof that Gaga killed her. Linas mom tried to make a case that Gaga copied her and threw up a bunch of pictures of comparisons. I don’t want to image what Linas mom is going through with the loss of her daughter. It’s horrible, but Gaga didn’t copy her. It’s a far reach to claim that. Rob Fusari in my opinion is the questionable one. If you watch Gaga’s paparazzi music video, in my opinion she is recreating Linas death by exposing what happened to her. Showing a man pushing her off the balcony. That music video also talks about how fame in general kills. Gaga actually puts a lot of effort into everything she does and always has a deep meaning. She doesn’t need to copy anything. She tells a story with every video or performance.
Actually she ripped off her look and possibly the songs, and that singer she ripped off … mysteriously died.

A reminder that Lady Gaga does all the theatrics, fancy clothing, makeup and other stuff because she's a visual artist and she loves being creative and not because she needs it.
I remember when Gaga first appeared in mainstream, many thought she was a flash in the pan. This woman is incredibly creative, powerful, inspirational, and has a voice that transcends most distinguished pop icons of our era. What I love most is that she did a total 180, no makeup, no extravagant designer pieces, to give us the woman she is deep down. There is so much beauty in the raw, and we need more people to realize that in the polished “everything has to be polished” pop culture.
I remember when Pokerface was new, my husband managed a record store and he came home and said "you have to hear this," and I just knew she was here to stay.
it takes balls to go on stage to sing without the things that could hide the imperfections. she is fucking amazing. what she wore and just everything about her was amazing. my mom and i used to play new songs for each other that we loved and this song was the first time in a long time that i loved a song enough to want to do that but my mom has been gone for almost 25 years (sorry if this isnt making sense im a bit drunk)

Anyone who didn’t like this performance most likely never had anyone in their life suffer from depression, addiction, mental health issues, grief, anxiety, etc. - Holding someone- being there to help someone through their darkest days - is the best part of being human. This stripped down performance was so appropriate and from her heart. I felt the “it’s personal” behind this performance. Just a beautiful performance of a deeply touching song. Keep being you.❤

I have been seeing gestures and attitudes that are not common in artists for a long time. she never got on any pedestal. she treats everyone as equals... and at the same time every time I see her she has a sad look like there's something unresolved inside her.

She isn't dolled up in some dopey costume. She isn't revealing her body for shock value. For the most part, she's sitting on a chair in a tee shirt & ripped jeans and she isn't miming. She even yanked out her earpiece out after slightly bumming a note. That's what we need more of. Real and raw. Better than pretentious, ostentatious, half-naked performers that can't even sing without lip-syncing to backing tracks. Pretty obvious really...
