    • cool

    • Are you selling this I’ll buy it

    • @EvanAndKatelyn...I wish I had you as my neighbors...you'd bring so much cheerfulness to my tomb :)

    • Cant u try to heat the the resin up again?

    • Most innuendoy episode ever 😆😆

  • First the water resin knife, then the lava resin axe, now we need the earth resin hammer.

    • @Mijoi B we looove the eleweapons round here

    • @stroke Yeah air sword supremacy!!!🎉🎉

    • @Mijoi Bidk how they’d do this, but my god do i want it to be a thing. air sword supremacy 🎉

    • Oooo an Air resin chisel!!

    • No we need the god of thunders hammer! Thor!!

  • i have to say, the recent trend of E&K becoming more snarky and flirty and less PG is one of my favourite things to happen here for a while

    • @kira gall trust me, they are. They're just very subtle

    • I’m starting to think they are that type of channel lol

    • Tbh I completely agree

    • CS-tv isn't very happy about it thou

  • Okay... it looks a bit like a burnt cheeto in the daylight... but it looks epic in the dark! I'd love to see a retry of this project!

    • Maybe mix some sand in the resin for the rocks and go brown and black? Also making a mold and using a slower curing resin (so they have more time to shape and detail) might help?

    • Definitely! They just need to do something to smooth out the mold; then it would be excellent. (Either that or do actual lava rock embeds and don’t cover them in resin - leave the texture on the surface.

  • You know, my first thought was you could easily make the rocks out of polymer clay... I've made some pretty darn realistic lava rock beads that way, and you have absolute control over size, texture all of that

    • Okay just saw the reveal; what I would have done to save the lava-stone effect would be to attach varied thicknesses of thin textured slices of black polymer clay (baked then glued on, maybe drybrushed a little). That way it'd give it a more 3D/tactile effect as well

    • Or foam clay, or cork. Or even just paint some pumice pieces haha. The rocks they made are pretty, they look like obsidian almost but I don't think that's what the goal was lol

  • I have a feeling that the "chewed gum" look might be a result of the "rocks" being glossy and roundish in shape, while magma is more matte and cracked in appearance. Still turned out to be super cool tho!

  • Alternate title: Evan and Katelyn make a super beautiful lava axe while trying to remain a family friendly channel for 28 minutes straight

  • 8 seconds in and we are already in "it's not that kind of channel" territory. I think it's a record

    • @Evan and Katelyn I’m starting to think you guys are that type of channel

    • 969 likes 4 u

    • @Cospaws I'd be surprised if there is any kids who this would go over there head , pretty sure most kids will unfortunately still get it , it's just how the internet is this days

    • "it's just white silicone"

    • @Evan and Katelyn I am already there. LMFAO

  • The white silicone goo on the rag was just........ pure art 🤣

  • Katelyn: don't eat resin Also Katelyn: * comparing the resin to tapioca pudding *

  • It's been THREE YEARS!? By the time the first resin knife video came out I felt like I had already been following y'all for a while, wow! THREE YEARS!? I was in my 20s when I started following y'all and now I'm an old maid!!

  • Evan and Katelyn have one of the very few channels where I laugh out loud and smash the like button during the sponsored segment...

  • Me throughout the first part of the video: y'all you're not that kind of channel! 😂 I'm glad you were able to overcome the weirdly curing black resin, and make a super cool lava axe that Evan can use his little smoke machine on 😁

  • Katelyn's "Button" impression was perfect. The cadence and tone is so specific and she nailed it

  • The Forged in Fire-style reveal mini-montage was a KILLER choice. Such a cool project, and it came out so gooooooood

  • I feel sorry for you not reaching your expectations but it turns out pretty cool, also it's my first time seeing your channel and couldn't stop smiling the whole video because of your synergy

  • This is the first video I've seen from you guys, and awesome molten cheese axe aside, you both have such awesome energy. You're super dorky, and I can tell how much fun you had with this project.

  • It looks great in the dark! I thought the glow would be provided by LED packs in the center, but that glow powder worked great. You could even make a stand for it, like a log or chopping block that hides UV lights in a hollow. When you pull it out, it's totally charged.

  • I've never seen any of your videos before this and I've got to say, I've never seen such a wholesome and charming couple in this genre. Your chemistry is amazing and you seem like genuinely fun people. Also, not trying to sound like a creep so forgive me if I do, but Katelyn's hair is AMAZING

  • I've been a follower for years and there's a few things I need to say here: #1. I cannot with how ansolutely cute you two are. #2. I cannot with how absolutely cute you two are TOGETHER. #3. I love the "adulty" innocent puns in the video that are completely undemonetizable, kinda in the "if you know you know" sorta way. Please never ever change one bit because we need more people like you two, and please never stop making videos. I know it's too much to ask but this is the purest most unadulterated fun I've ever had.

  • I now want to see them make a mirror glaze cake.

  • THAT IS SO COOL- The spots where the air bubbles were just make it look so much better.

  • It’d be a great for a prop for like cosplay or dnd or something. Its super cool in UV. I have a hard time imagining how to make it look a bit better in the nonUV shots, since the handle texture is there for grip so you can’t get rid of it, and putting textured rocks on the outside of the handles would make it impossible to handle. Maybe matte, flat rocks on the outside of the handles? Like an extra layer? Idk. Either way, good job, I’m sure it was a struggle.

  • I loved the axe from the moment it came out of the mold. It didn’t look weird to me at all! And I like it just as much in the light as when it’s glowing in the dark. I don’t think this was bad at all.

  • Can someone make these adorable dorks a giant sign that says "Mold release"? I love you guys

  • I cannot think of any two people made more for each other than Evan and Katelyn 😂 ✨

    • @Crimson Akato Popularmmos or someone else?

    • I used to know 2 people I thought were perfect for each other but unfortunately they got divorced since the guy didn't want any kids while the girl was thinking about starting to take things a bit more seriously, at least they are still good friends but rip my childhood hahahaha , Evan and Katelyn are now the new couple channle I watch they replaced the old one for me

    • Same. So adorable 😍

    • Bert and Ernie? but besides that. I can't think of anyone

  • This came out so good! Especially in the dark! You two come up with the most amazing Ideas!

  • the bit missing in the blade actually makes it look like its been used so much that it eventually broke. I love it.

  • The only channel where I actually watch the sponsor portions. Many other CS-tvrs could learn a thing. I hope the companies appreciate the extra work. I think it would pay off.

  • I’ve been following and watching your channel for a few years now I think, but I’m just now trying resin on my own! Honestly I understand the appeal now, and thank god for your reminder to do tests and unique projects!! Xoxoxo love you guys

    • I wrote this at the beginning of the video and am now sad you didn’t do a test for once! Hahahaha

  • It honestly turned out perfect! It’s giving me a WoW vibe for some reason and I love that lol? You guys should add like a leather wrapping or some kitschy/weathered looked bandages !! >:3

  • The glow looks so cool and the color for the lava is spot on! ❤ I think the main problem with the rocks is that usually the dark crust floats on top of the lava so you’ve got a bit of a 3D-Effect going on as well as the different textures. But the clear coat you guys applied first gave both lava and rocks the same texture, both were shiny. Maybe it would be more realistic looking if you made the blade completely yellow and red with glow and added the rocks later on the outside. Maybe airbrush them on or use some kind of grout or some of the techniques people use for making rocks for miniature landscapes.

    • Just a thought for when you display it- a black shadow box with LED lights (in ax silhouette) to illuminate the ax to be able to instantly get the glow effect. Maybe even having a switch or timer for the LEDs to "charge" the ax then letting the ax glow until dim.

    • Adding the rocks after would definitely be a cool technique to try!

    • @Drew Stark that's pretty much what I was thinking

    • I wonder if it would’ve worked to have just done the inner core the lava, whereas the two outer handles are clear coat and the rocks? That way there’s still some semblance of a “3-D effect” of the rocks being on top of the lava, but still having the handle be functional

    • I was thinking maybe painting the rocks could help there are lots of organic fake rocks tutoríals out there

  • i love how they were made for each other you guys are such a cute couple keep on doing what your doing👍

  • I LOVE YOU TWO!!! Rain or shine... Win or fail... Mold release or no... You two are inspirational teachers! Keep it up! 😉 Yes. I love the results and all I learned thru this adventure!

  • love the process. to be fair you do already have rocks from your fireplace you could make your own silicon mold of those for rocks for future projects. pretty neat project turned out really cool!

  • That product reveal didn’t have to go so epic 😂❤

  • Y'all are so darn cute! I wish my hubby would craft with me like this!

  • Only 5 seconds in and you've already made us all wonder if you really aren't "that type of channel". I can tell this one's gonna be entertaining! The axe looks amazing in the thumbnail :)

    • 4 min in at least 4 innuendo. Someone was frisky. Ok we just hitv5

    • 😇

    • @CopperCoinStories you mean they're becoming a 'that's what she said' chanel

    • Evan and Katelyn just slowly becoming "that type of channel" with each video, yikes 😂

  • Looks like it would make a great Halloween prop, love the look 👍 💯

  • Needed more glowing footage. It looked so good!

  • Katelyn's idea of iso alcohol to remove the mold form is perfect with a small addition: To reattach the form to the glass, heat the glass in the oven to 375-400, take it out, Place the mold form on it to cool together. Its should remelt the glue, but if it misses anything you can use a soldering iron or hot air gun.

  • Wait. It's been that long since the first resin weapon video? OMG. Time really does fly when you're having fun.

  • bit because we need more people like you two, and please never stop making videos. I know it's too much to ask but this is the purest most unadulterated fun I've ever had.

  • Evan getting cut off while saying "Should we do a time-lapse?" had me laughing more than I thought it would. 😂

  • Just what the world needed, handing Katelyn a weapon! 🤣

  • I love the experimental nature of y'all's work. Keep it up, you huge goofball nerds!

  • You guys are hilarious, and talented. Love the innuendos

  • Omg Evan and Kate, you guys just made my day! First time watching you and now I'm hooked! You guys are so cute BTW...🥰

  • these are the kinds of videos that motivate me to work on my collection of unfinished works (there are way to many)

  • Holy cow, This axe is seriously impressive, I love the concept and the final product! Keep up the good work guys!!

  • Woah! That axe looks so sick can’t believe that that was make from resin boogers 😆

  • I love seeing them work on projects they both are made for each other I wish I find someone like her to do projects with anyway keep it up guys you are rocking it 🙃🙃😁

  • If you ever decide to make something similar in the future, you could find something water-soluble to replace your outside clear resin layer on the handles, that way you could remove it after you poured the lava to let the stones provide the handles' texture rather than the grippy-lines from the original.

  • Awesome video, always a fun time watching. A thought about the dark rocks, maybe instead of casting separate rocks to imbed if you poured the same colors as the rocks into the mold first, say filling it up halfway, then popped those out cracked them apart making craggily gaps about an 1/8 to 1/4 inch wide then put them back in and poured the lava over that so it fills back in the cracks. I think it would give the look of a dark broken crust that lava has. I don't know how you would hold down the dark parts though so that none of the red got under them though, maybe a thin layer of clear that doesn't cover the black parts?

  • I gotta say, as a resin tech, I appreciate the fact that you guys actually use good PPE for working with resin. So many woodworkers and craftspeople work without so much as a 3M respirator (and those are imperfect to say the least), so it's refreshing to see you guys using gloves and the fancy helmets, because contact with the skin can (hell, *WILL* ) cause cancer, and breathing it in can cause cancer and other problems down the line. It's especially important to wear some sort of respirator if you grind, drill, or sand into the resin as well. The particulates are terrible for the lungs, and the damage can get worse over time from even a small bit.

  • Even and katelyn are slowly becoming “that type of channel” with each video 😂

  • Katelyn's sinister smile when holding a weapon or when she rejected Evan in the sponsor skit. 😂

  • The first thing I watched on this channel was 4 years ago(the Murphy bed build) and you guys have come so far and it almost feel like I know y’all

  • to help add texture to pieces like the little resin rocks, it might help to use rough sandpaper once it's fully hardened! it does kinda look... not so great, but it does look cool in the dark! I think maybe what hurt it was the texture of the handle, along with too much clear coat that ended up sort of clouding the blackness of the rock-bits, which made them stand out less against the red-yellow behind them. but it does amazing in the dark! that glow powder definitely did its job!

  • You two could make the most amazing cosplays outta nothing but resin

  • I love how with every video they make, they get more and more chaotic

  • I just really love that Evan and Katelyn are constantly doing such insane stuff, I honestly usually get so excited when I see the premise of whatever wacky thing they’re doing!! I always love seeing that they’ll think up next 😂

  • THE FINAL RESULT LOOKS AWESOMEEEE 🤩💖 AND IN THE DARK UGHHHH 😩🛐💞 What I would've done for the rock texture is take a big pancake of clay and press the rock texture into that, and then pour the resin on top and break it into pieces afterwards. But idk much about resin so maybe it wouldn't've worked out as well as I think it would 🤷‍♀

  • as an ambassador of the fire elements, I would like to thank you for making this and will gladly accept this is an offering, I am also going to use this as a reference bc I want to make lava resin things for display at my seup

  • I blame the striped texture for it not being as impressive in natural light! If it had been completely smooth and polished it would look incredibly cool! Amazing job either way! 💜

  • I noticed that the resin that you guys appears to be quite thick, I remember watching another video by a wood worker and he hot bathed the resin container for it to get thinner and get into the cracks of the wood better. Might be worth considering doing something similar for when you need the resin to get into the cracks, ei. The edge of the axe blade.

  • There's enough hollow space in the center that you could do LED's inside. Make the resin a little more translucent, and put some LED's in to light it up. Maybe a mix of red/orange/yellow and UV to make it glow.

  • Thank you for always adding subtitles as soon as you post, and thyre always accurate never broken

    • Agreeeeeed!!

    • I agree.

    • @Evan and Katelyn i have trouble with hearing words so i also appreciate subtitles

    • @Evan and Katelyn I must also add that the slight commentary hidden in the captions is hilarious as well! 😂😂😂

    • thank you for the kind words!

  • I love that without the glow it looks like a leotard axe. And I think that’s fancy. The glowing version is amazing guys! Good job❤

  • For the lava rocks, a good idea would have been to pour a thin layer of silicone in a box, then put your fireplace lava rocks on top. Once cured, remove the lava rocks and use the impressions in the silicon to make your resin lava rocks.

  • the fact that I've seen the exact videos you referenced in the ad made it pure gold. i never skip them

  • Love the fate you guys had till the end, and how Even only looked satisfied wthen it glew!

  • Hey Guys, Love your videos just tried resin and must say was loads of fun. I am having trouble finding a tiara resin mold and was curious if that would be something you two would be interested in experimenting on. Maybe it could go with your money purse. Hope you get this message and if you dont use the suggestion no worries. :) Yall are great.

  • This is the type of relationship I want, they have so much chemistry and they genuinely enjoy each other's presence (unlike some other CS-tv couples, or couples in general). Also I absolutely LOVE how it turned out

  • Since you tried texturing it with the fire rocks, what you could've done was make a mold from those rocks and use them. Either filling it half-way as an open-sided mold like your axe so you would've had a flat side or entirely encase them in silicone and then break or cut them in half after. On the flip side, you could've just used the rocks in the final result so you actually have real "lava" rocks embedded within. The lava looks fantastic though! Just in case you want to give it another shot! (Could even reuse the rock mold for other applications; lava soap anyone?)

  • You guys should do mood "ring" press on nails/nail polish Also an elemental earth hammer or wind bow and arrows would look cool so you could have the whole set of elements

  • This video proves that you two should have an after hours style channel with a podcast or this content but let loose and joke more. That gem of a movie reference get's a sub lol

  • For the lave-next time- y’all should mix (in separate containers) 2 part red + 1 part brown and 2 parts orange + 0.5 parts brown. Then mix together 2.5 parts red concision, 2 parts orange concision, 0.5 parts yellow, then ad a small touch of white. This because lava is primarily dark with a touch of colour, the brown also muted the red and orange allowing the to yellow stand out, making appear hotter. Thank you for listing to my Ted talk.

  • Love your channel love the little jokes you Two are stinking adorable .was thinking at the start Evan it's not that kind of channel and the Katelyn with the white silicone lol you both always keep us interested!!

  • I just love the wholesomeness of this channel but has a Disney level of innuendos and references which makes me smile every time.

  • I also watch some soap makers and when you said you felt like you were seasoning a dish. I got more soap making vibes from the pour and then sprinkling process.

  • I don't normally notice editing, but the editing in this video is wonderful. Maybe I was just trying not to focus on the lava (volcano phobia ftw). Beautiful axe, tho.

  • First, this thing is friggin amazing. Second, do y'all have plans/a video on how you made that leveling jig? B/c I need to make one of those ASAP.

  • Love the axe . I think you should have used the real lava rocks on the handle and the thicker part of the axe head

  • I love that you guys use good safety equipment

  • So many “not that kind of channel” moments….love it😂

  • Fun way to clean up the silicone edges- a v shaped cuticle trimmer!

  • some would even dare to say this axe is GLOWrious 🔥

  • I had an idea for a project somewhat similar to this. I pictured an aetherpunk-style sword (thinking like a Dao/Cutlass mashup) made of a (glowy) resin core (edge not necessary) with laser cut wood panels that make up the flats of the blade, as well as possibly elements of the guard. The wood would have runes cut out of it, with the intention being that the glowy resin shines through the runes and/or decoration for the blade. Imagine if Kratos' Blades of Chaos and the Darksaber had a baby during Pirate Weekend at the Ren Faire.

  • Ads are always a bit inconvenient, but you guys make them so funny I can’t help but watch them ahah! I appreciate the effort y’all put int everything, even the ads hah ❤

  • I actually thought they would do the smooth pebbles of black resiny goops independently then glue them on the outside of the handle to make the handle bumpy but give the look of lava incrusted in rocks. It would give more definition, though be less functional… if it can be called functional at all ^^ It looks awesome as hell though :D

  • the amount of "it's not that kind of show" in your vids is my favorite. like watching The Muppets as an adult and catching all the raunchy jokes lmao. I love you guys

  • I've been subbed to yall for years and every now and then I come back to see how yall are doing and yall now have 1 MILL SUBS! that's awesome I really feel like a proud father every time I see how yall channel has grown and speaking of grown now that I'm older I get all of the "ha ha funny" jokes that the younger me didn't get, anyways keep it up!

  • In the dark it looks super cool, however with lava the hardened parts are always floating on top and not submerged, I don't know if the texture of the handle has helped either, but I think if you do another one, maybe a smoother handle surface might help as well as having the rocky bits ontop instead of embedded in the handle. But at the end of the day it's all trial and error :>

  • Omg, this came out so good!! Follow up idea: Resin Recurve Bow! (Maybe resin arrows too?) It would be so cool to see if the resin could be flexible enough to be a single piece cast, or maybe you simply make the handle and buy professional risers (the arms that determine the resistance of the bow) and attach them separate. Orrrr maybe a crossbow with little resin bolts? Anyway, custom archery gear would be such a cool video!

  • You guys are two of some of My favorite Nerds !

  • The resin reveal was so funny lmao- but in the end- it absolutely looks BADASS

  • It comes to my mind (not knowing a thing about resin) that maybe if you Cast It in like wrinkled aluminum foil It may reasemble more the texture of rocks. i've seen how people do that with plaster for like diorama rocks, so, maybe works! Also, sorry for my english, it's not my maternal language! Hope i make myself understood! And this comes from a place of curiosity, i do not want to sound rude, sorry if i do! Love your videos btw 💜 Edit: just finished the video and It looks so cool! You guys are so talented! ☺️

    • @Carol Martín-Viveros Yes, resin will adhere to aluminum foil even with mold release.

    • @g thanks! 🥰

    • @wendy c would mold release not work there? 🤔 Still interesting!

    • You'd have to use a layer of plastic wrap so that the foil wouldn't stick to the resin.

    • your english is perfect!

  • Awesome project! Two things that came to my mind: -The handle color was way duller than the body of the axe. Is it because of the texture of the original you took the mold from? what'd happen if you dremeled any texture away? -Does the UV powder shine trough darker pigments? Volcanic glass-like on regular light that changes to molten lava on UV sounds amazing. Maybe a bit of it on the rocks themselves.

  • That was a fun video! You can always redo the handle pieces later if you want. The lava color and glow looked cool either way!
