It has nothing to do with modesty or dignity. Any body is natural and you are no more or less dignified if you show certain parts of it. What is lacking of dignity, is people that stare and gawk at her. Completely forgetting that this is a professional setting and that she is an athlete executing her passion, not an object of lust. However, I do agree with the clothing point. Sports wear shouldn't be made to make people think wow she's so beautiful and sexy! It should be so you can execute the sport freely and comfortably. While it is not shameful that this happened to her, in fact, it is not a big deal, many people will interpret it as such. So it's better to wear the right clothing in a setting like this that will prevent such reactions.

But in a major sporting event that u r a part of u do not get a choice.. in that case if a football player wanted a rugby feel they would wear shorts.. gymnast would wear layers.. none of the old sports including guy sports would have tiny shorts lol etc.. We need to create safety in sports for women. My daughter was told she needed to purchase booty short to play volleyball & when I protested to the coach, she was kicked off the team. I had to go through the school board to get her back on the team with acceptable shorts.

I’m a teacher and when our school’s cheer team performed the whole school saw underwear and cheeks when the girls did cartwheels. Half the school laughing, other half going crazy. When I kindly brought this up to the cheer teacher my concern, she just brushed me off and said it’s just what cheerleaders wear. And I’m like…but they are children… the girls spent more time quickly pulling their skirts down then actually cheering 😭
@Mara Jones when I was in school, I did volleyball and cheer- we were required to wear shorts (still are). I understand the confusion given at one point there was a polkadot option (so they did look like underwear), but other than that, the issue is with the amount of movement required (as shown in the video), they go up the cheeks🤷🏾♀️ unless the uniforms for women are changed, there is always going to be riding as expected by the male gaze.
Ugh its so frustrating. I was about to apply for my schools volleyball team but saw how short the shorts were. I noped out and signed up for a club instead. Ppl need to realize these are freaking kids, you do not know who in that crowd is looking at more than just your child playing out there. It's scary.

Not a damn person says shit... shame on them. I feel this girls pain. There's so many clothing mishaps that happen to those who have bigger butts. And no not all women with butts or boobs want the world seeing them and its not intentional. For me I can get a medium length dress/ knee high, but when I put it on it rides up at least 5+ inches. Pants, shorts and underwear are all a pain too. I wear a medium/ 7, but that size doesn't match below the waist which is more like a 9, 11 or Large. So depending on the fabric- cue the thigh tears, waistband/ belt loop rips and absolutely no bending over because the seams will split down the center or if its leggings there goes flashing the world. Wearing boyshorts or thongs are equally maddening

An Olympic long jumper was told by an official to wear longer shorts because hers were too revealing. Guess what happened? She took to Twitter calling it sexist and outdated. Filed a complaint
shorts might interfere with the movements of them stretching their legs apart thats why guys have shorts that look like girls booty shorts ... those swim suits are better fitting on the body that lets them move better ... but having a speedo on a guy wouldnt be a good idea having their junk budging out or even the size being a distraction ... girls can have the same shorts but that means more cloths under them so they wont end up showing a bit more than they want when they open their legs ... i think its just that some chicks have different bodies some stand out a bit more than others in a "swim suit" back there you know its just how it is ... even tho i do think the guy should be a bit more professional in this environment he gets to see many girls and if this is how hes going to act with every girl then maybe put him somewhere else .... but also on the other hand she knows what shes wearing and how she looks in it . those stares are because of the fact that she looks amazing guys are guys they are human and when there is someone that looks amazing in a swim suit we going to look girls as well will stare ... keep it professional on both sides just ignore it and move on trust me that guy isnt the only one looking the crowed are staring ... not as an object but because of those muscles on those cheeks moves when she smiles :D
@Sin Dilacion both POVs are damaging either way. One leads to uncomfortable stares (or worse) and the other to shaming a woman's body for just being her body. The root problem is how a woman's body is sexualized and how she is objectified, not what she wants to wear.
And the Norway volleyball team was fined 150€ per player for wearing (skin-tight) shorts at a game instead of "bikini bottoms" which are no less revealing than cheeky underwear. They take this notion that women shouldn't have to dress modest and use it as an excuse to force women to be nearly naked (for a largely male audience!). All this back and forth about what kind of clothes are okay is completely missing the point; which is that women deserve the same dignity and respect as a man by not having their bodies sexualized by default.
