To clear the gap, you could use a flat sheet of metal designed to bridge gaps like that. They are commonly used when unloading trailers onto loading docks at stores.

@john doe Well if its RWD, good luck pushing the car when it is on the front dollies. Then the rears wont move. So it will be stuck half way onto the elevator.
to put the corvette into neutral, you have to hold the power button for like 5 seconds without pressing the brake then it'll send power to the car without turning the vehicle on

From reading the comments apparently all the car enthusiasts on here aren't car enthusiasts. Because it seems alot of you dont know dick about vehichles. Same thing with Stradman, tons of beautiful exotic vehichles doesn't seem to know much about working operation of cars just buys and drives them. To each there own he does his thing. Just kinda of a downer to see it.
@Nicky T yeah I understand that. That’s really only for drive and reverse gears I believe so neutral wouldn’t hurt the transmission since it wouldn’t be making contact with any gears. But I mean, he moved the car at the end of the day but it’s just some fruit for thought

Transmission fluid is usually a darker red color, not sure if it’s just the lighting but that looked more like traditional oil to me
Usually yes especially it being a Chevy you would typically see a red variant of transmission fluid but it being a specialty vehicle it would make sense if it has a yellow hue color fluid for that specific transmission that is meant to take a beaten it being a sports car might make strads assumption pretty dead on and he probably went straight to assuming it’s transmission fluid most from the smell.

Push and hold the start button for a few more seconds with your foot off the brake. It should put you in accessory mode. That might get you into neutral.

Right? I did one quick google and I was given simple instructions how to override park with the engine off .... This must be different or just does not work on the Z06 variant... Although I'm not sure about James, I have faith that Tim would have had the smarts to at least look it up and try the C8 "Engine Off Neutral override" sequence.

I love shmee and strad episodes two of the most positive and cheerful personalities in yt auto. The house is literally 15 min from mine; wish I could have bought them beers or even better moscow mules. Strad have you been to the garage grill yet with all the nice cars up on lifts and you eat dinner below them? Would make for some fun content if they would allow you to film there.

Cars with warranties makes life less stressful
For GM cars if you hold the power bottom for 8-10 seconds it goes into "full accessory" mode which you can shift it into Neutral and push it.

Check the fluids via dipsticks. Add which ever is needed and get it moved. It will leak slowly enough you can drive it a bit. Like a tire with a slow leak.
Under warranty and I know it comes with roadside assistance call them to come out to your home.

Try to press and hold the start button for about 10 seconds (without touching the brake), that should turn that led on the start button to green. That might allow you to change the transmission position
All you have to do is hold the engine start button for about 10 seconds and gets into tech mode which allows you to put it in neutral with any gm vehicle
It's fairly new, maybe just check the seals or some damage on the oil pan. There might've been some issues during shipping

Not sure if this has ever been mentioned yet, however, were/are there thoughts/plans to epoxy the garage floors? In addition to adding longevity and beauty, it would definitely help clean-up of all spills such as these!

Hey Stradman…Love the channel..Sorry to see this..The transmission and trans axle usually are separate..honestly fluid spread and it makes it looks like alot.I would jack it up safely and take the cover off and see if it is the transmission or transaxle..you should be able to see the leak and have more of idea …I wouldn’t be surprised it’s and axle seal..

I'm sure you will have some guys tell you already but if there's no trans fluid (Like completely empty) the car won't even be able to get into gear. but if there's a little left then it may be able to get into gear but it will likely eat up the clutches or the gears. but awesome video again strad!

Same type of thing happened to me, but it was radiator fluid. I just filled it up, took off to the shop, knowing I'd lose most of it, but got there safely for them to replace the radiator. You could do the same, however, I think that's motor oil. You just need enough to get it out of the Bat Cave. Good luck.
U should have a plate made to cover the crack between the lift an floor kinda like they have on a loading dock , so a couple pieces welded to go down in the crack an flat plate to go across

Now you know you need at least 5 or 6 sets of these wheel dollies. Especially if you're going to fill the bat cave with all the cars. Which is exactly what I would do!
Hold down the push start button for 5 seconds. It will put it in accessory mode. To engage neutral you have to hold the neutral button for 3-5 seconds. Also that appears to be engine oil around 2-3 quarts
I would recommend getting a thin, sturdy piece of sheet metal that the wheel dolly can roll right over. You can start getting the car into the elevator at an angle so only 1 or 2 wheels at a time would be on it.
I think he just dragged on this non-existent problem for the sake of the video.
@Derek Thorpe You would think he, his friends and definitely his builder would have planned for any and all scenarios with that garage, clearly they didn't. On top of that how do you literally build a new house and still end up with a driveway that you have to put freaking carpet at the end of it to get some cars in and out of? 🤦♂
@Derek Thorpehonestly. could’ve even hacked the front of the car up with the jack already on the elevator and put the dolly on while the front wheels cleared the gap and repeat with the rear.

Turn the accessory on in the car, put your foot on the brake and press the neutral button, it won’t turn the car on all the way but will allow it to go into neutral.
It sucks when stuff like this happens, but it sure is entertaining.

If you turned the C8 on and switched it into neutral and pushed it, it shouldn't mess anything up. Yes, the gears in the trans are moving with no fluid, but not long enough, nor fast enough to effect anything. Then you would've been able to push it on the elevator and back off into the garage.
Just plain unlucky! Hope it gets repaired quick!

I can see this happening more than once. You should get a steel transition, something like a t-mold, that can drop in the crack for times like this.

I’ve had to pause it once you got the wheel dollies. Just start it up and drive it. It’s what the warranty is for!

I believe that's motor oil. General Motors trans fluid is a red ish pink color, and that car is very new, so it shouldn't be burnt or anything. I could be wrong though

@Uranium Cranium I’m well aware of how it works, you might want to do some reading and learn about it besides the sales brochure…. Physically the C8 has a manual transmission, which means it takes manual transmission type fluids…. It has a automated clutch. Still has a clutch, actually 2. But it still has a clutch that’s just operated by a computer. It’s NOT an automatic transmission. It doesn’t have a torque converter or anything else a automatic transmission would be assembled with.
Should have taken the offer from buddy who wanted to buy it lmao all jokes aside, that seriously sucks. I see so many new cars having major issues lately, really hope this is just something like a drain bolt wasn't in properly tightened or something simple and not a big issue leading to recalls
You probable know this by now or have the Z06 sorted out but you can push the start button without touching the break "Hold for 5 seconds" to wake the car up and be able to place it into neutral.
He showed in the video doing exactly that and it not going into neutral homie
hey strad can you try to put ramps over the gap for the car elevator to get the c8 up?
If you hold the start stop for 5 seconds without the brakes on it should turn on accessory mode and it might let you go into neutral then. Try it out and see if that works.

you got my luck with cars, I’ve bought so many brand new sports cars and about 70% of them had problems right off the lot.
use some sort of like plexiglass board or thin wood board (or the carpet) to cover the gap in the basement floor to the car elevator and hopefully you can push the wheel dollies over and onto the elevator. Or, try and fill the gap with a temporary item. Having a technician come to you might be a hassle but hopefully this idea works.

Not this car you have to have the engine running which allows the transmission pump to run then work the valves for Neutral
If you still need it out. Take the front wheels off the dolleys and roll the front wheels onto the lift. Obviously the back wheels wont move cause its not in neutral so maybe youll have to make a small ramp for the rear dolleys

Try pushing it on the wheel dollies on a couple ramps or wood to clear the gap
The first thing in my mind was that now it's going to be so difficult to get an epoxy floor to really stick to the spot where the fluid soaked into the raw concrete!!!!!

If I were Strad I would start writing exact Milage of cars before and after they ship so if something like this happens to a car not under warranty he can go after the transporters if there’s added Milage.

With your foot off the brake pedal press and hold the start button for 5-10 seconds and it will go into accessory mode and you might be able to put the car into neutral
Pretty much every car has a way to put it into neutral. In most cases if you pry up the gear shift plate you should find a neutral safety switch that you can disconnect and put t in neutral with out turning on the car

That almost looks like power steering fluid, that oil is very fresh
Idk if it’s the same on the C8 but typically all newer chevys what you do is just hold the start button until it goes into accessory mode (5-10 seconds) (don’t press brake)

James after watching this video I would seriously recommend you invest in a creating another entry/exit to the batcave. GF there’s a real emergency and you need to get the cars out quickly that elevator will never do the trick, especially in a situation where you’ve lost electricity. Better planning now can really save you in the future if GF an emergency arises.
there is another way to get out for a person.... I doubt the first thing he would think of is getting his cars out that's just a big pay day only car he really is attached to is his pink aventador and I doubt he will keep it shoved down there.

James now has a 20x2 Corvette…. 20 wheels… 2 maybe not so driven. Anywho, find some kind of ramp or wedge or something to stick in that lift gap to get the car onto it. Some metal sheet to go over the whole thing or blocks of wood in the gap to fill it in temporarily. Best of luck!

Check the Transmission and engine fluid levels with the dipsticks but it looks more like engine oil possibly a loose oil filter Ford had that issue on the early GT350 Mustangs with the oil filters loosening due to engine vibrations over time
Hey just a FYI if you hold the start button without your foot on the brake pedal it will turn on and then you can put the vette in neutral don't forget to click the seat belt buckle.
@Chris Adams its a gm product at the end of the day lol. Good ol hold of the start button puts it into “service mode” as they call it. When it’s literally just turning the actual ignition on. Im actually just surprised that this info cant be found online and the best they can find is using dollys🤣 (i used to work at a caddy dealer)
@Danny Manuel sad thing is that's what you have to do for the base model c8 so I'm sure it's the same for the z06 but what do I know I'm just a dumb mechanic lol.

Put transmission fluid in it. It won't shift into neutral until there is enough to shift safely.
