In this week's news, Serena Williams charges chair umpire Carlos Ramos with sexism after a crazy US Open final. Who was right: Williams or Ramos?

  • Perfect analysis of the situation! I love Serena, but she was SO wrong this time that no one should side up with her.

  • Serena Williams verbally abused and threatened the Umpire way more than she was penalized for.

  • She claims to be for women's right, did she forget that here on the other side of the net was a player whom she knew looked up to her as a role model in the world of tennis, someone she could feel pride in knowing that this youngster admired her for her talent and what she had achieved, yet in a temper tantrum she revealed herself to being just a shallow self opinionated shell of a person, SHIT! what a lasting memory for what could have been a glorious fade out for a tennis great.

  • I believe the umpire was correct but it is the first time all year I have seen this penalty enforced. Make it the same for all players. Men and women. Be consistent wta and atp or throw the outm

  • Niaomi Osaki well done and congratulations.

  • 100% agree.

  • See this is what happens when you let those people play pro tennis. Thank god there was no shooting.

  • Why didn’t she just admit her foolishness instead of defending rule breaking and throughly bad behaviour I would respect her more. now she just Comes across as a belligerent uncompromising bad sport

  • Absolutely correct, Ramos is a hero for not being intimidated by Williams or the partisan crowd. SJW MUST apologise as Must Katrina Adams. Sexism is just spin as is SJW claiming to be fighting for women's rights.

  • Anyone who has had to go through sexism (including all sexes on the gender scale), should be outraged when someone intentionally plays the victim card here for their own advantage. This woman should be shunned and made an example of for the devious person she really is.

  • Serena is the victim of her own mouth an actions and she is like that everytime she is loosing stop her bad actitude for the best of sports no more queen of the jungle

  • I agree with video comments, Serena was wrong

  • Serena just f up the whole leftist propaganda. This stupid card is working only in the us.

  • In the three previous grand slams there were 59 code violations against men and 31 against women. Almost 2:1. The double standard is in a top tier player demanding preferential treatment.

  • but...but...but....Serena has a DAUGHTER!!!...…..WHAT???????????????

  • The woman doing the commentary is BEAUTIFUL.

  • first time i've been embarrassed to be a serena fan. she made an ass of herself, and looked very weak...women who throw around these kind's of accusations without impunity need to be put in check.

  • She played the "poor littlel ol' me card and lost. She had to mention her baby like if it was a special thing, as if it was a special event. There are billions of in the world as if hers was more special than others! Screw her!

  • The umpire did make a concession by ignoring the "liar" calling.

  • Competting against women pls atleast check equal testrotone level.

  • She's not the greatest women tennis player ever. Stephy graff is .

  • Triggered

  • i would love to be there...when her children ask her...WHY she did this..???....just so i can see the look on her face!!!...that would be ...TIMELESS

  • What two sides to the incident? Williams was wrong and her abuse to the umpire both on the court and off it was reprehensible.

  • Why do you think they wanted a black woman to sit and talk about another black woman we have always been used to hang our own never fails

  • Portuguese can be more racist than whites especially the ones that have a little something

  • Wrong, 100%.

  • Some of you is killing With this shit, about how the world will remember Serena after that match!! HOW About speaking for your Damm selves!! YOU JACKASSES DON'T KNOW AT ALL HOW THE NEXT PERSON IS FELLING!!NO YOU DON'T!!!!!!!!!!

  • Axe Twain THAT'S A DAMM LIE! YOU COULD HAVE KEPT THAT BULLSHIT!! SERENA WILLIAMS STILL HAVE A MILLION PLUS SUPPORTERS!!

  • Serena was in the wrong whether she wants to admit to or not! The Umpire made no decision that was unjust based on the rules of the game. The truth is her temper and frustration got the better of her (again) and she behaved badly and unprofessionally as a result. Not only that but her whole sexism accusation is just a pathetic excuse she is using in an attempt to cover up her own bad actions instead of having the courage to admitting and taking responsibility for them.

  • If you search CS-tv, you will find numerous videos showing her temper flair while thinking she does not need to be held accountable because men do it. What happens when we get caught speeding and everyone's is driving over the speed limit? Let's think about this. Is Serena the right individual to be representing woman's right with her smashing rackets and temper tantrums?

  • sickening that u can behave like that and still walk away with 1.8 million dollars

  • Serena was wrong, and rude, The umpire was right. Bea cook

  • Serena's behavior was very shameful. Shameful that she is trying to hide behind the sexism charge! She undoubtedly owes Ramos an apology. She should have been suspended for the next tournament.

  • Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

  • Its Just Not Tennis from American forefathers, Hamilton, Laurens and Slaves our lords brothers and sisters still turn in their graves they were hoping for better, but we still let them down the land your built upon shared deep roots in the ground amazing opportunities a land of hope and glory the land of the free but its not a complete story equal means equal lets move the story on lets diminish all gaps until there gone some people will have to keep shouting and pointing that finger a ferocious reminder of injustices that linger a sporting goddess a modern day Athena yes you were loud and by god we seen ya you could always apologise , keep wearing a mask but that wont help the people following behind in your tracks in rage and anger at the end of her tether frustrated by time and decisions by measure yes you were pointing and fierce in the face yes you were disappointed losing your grace but im not disappointed i will still follow your lead conscious pricked, you planted your seed a woman for today living rules from the past losing your patience and taking them to task in equal measure we should be a collective, and rule for my part i separate from the words of a fool i cant claim to be unblemished set apart from the crowd yes i am ashamed from past words said aloud i hope i grow and forever iam learning never just satisfied from a world that keeps turning this needs to be a moment and now it needs action equality means equal, that’s not just a fraction xxxx

  • It right because it was a match between a black wo....... man and a black womam! SEXISM!

  • Ramos did exactly what the rules call for in that situation.

  • I wonder what Nike thinks of this. Many of the men that they use for examples were actually penalized. Also two wrongs don't make a right.

  • She brought disgrace to the Tennis sport and she is looking like a complete idiot.

  • I totally agree! All these claims of sexism and racial prejudice is JUNK and BULL SHIT! She is a spoiled brat even though she's the greatest woman player ever. Carlos Ramos handled it perfectly! Congrads to Naomi! SHAME ON THE WTA!

  • wrong! needs counselling, for the sake of poor umpires & players opposite her!

  • WRONG

  • In another sport, S. Williams, the way disrespectful of as directed to the referee, would be thrown out of the game.

  • Right deserve for Serena!

  • Serena was absolutely wrong and her outragious behaviour should not be accepted. The videos make it very clear that she saw couching but denied and accusing the empire lying and stealing the point. Is there any stupid people believe in what she was saying ? She has never cheated or lie in her life ? I could not help laughing with what she was saying. Anyway she is the most notorious female player in tennis history, physically violent, threatening people and behaving utterly badly when she lose games. Unfortunately there hardly are people challenging her and that's why she is never learning from the history. It should be very strict so no one would behave like Serena. Worst thing is that she is using her cases in political terms and there were not any discrimination issues raised when she won. Pathetic woman. I feel sorry for her child. She will learn all those lies and cheating from her mother.

  • In soccer world cup they had reviews and in cricket also. Why not in Tennis. A incident like this should introduce ban

  • Umpires in soccer issue red card. Why not in Tennis too.

  • Grace you are absolutely correct!! There was no sexism! Even though Serena had already two violations against her she made the choice (according to her after the match for ALL WOMEN) to continue her rant and berate the umpire. It was all about HER especially in regards to her demanding an apology from the umpire. This is no rocket science. She was losing an important match that would give her 24 grand slam titles to a young first timer. She let her emotions get the best of her. That’s what it was!!! Apparently this happens whenever she is losing an important match, 2009 2011 and 2018 US open. Laughable when she claims she did it for all women. No! It was all about her self!!

  • Why she believes she is above the rules?

  • Serena was definitely wrong! Her coach admitted to coaching. He even said 100% of coaches do it in 100% of matches. Has Serena never ever looked at her coach in a match and not received coaching? Can she still claim she never cheats?

  • She's WRONG...😐Some of the Fans Booed??The Crowd was Disgusting👎 I Dont Care how big a "Super Star" Serena is..Her Mouth is Big..Sexism??She's Abused Female Umpires..Standing up for Women..Give us a Break🙄Championships aside..Naomi Osaka is going to be a Far Better Tennis Champion than Williams..It's Not all About Championships and Dollars..Naomi is Humble in Manner, has Personality and Kind in Nature😊

  • Serena was disgraceful. Very unprofessional, out of control, a terrible tennis model for anyone--especially kids-- watching her tirade. Having all that talent, then abusing the rules, is unacceptable. Sexism? I don't see it in this case. Nor did I see it in a male single match--I think at Indian Wells this year--when a player lost a game, then looking at the ground while moving toward his chair--away from the referee--started a very angry and very loud stream of curse words. Right away, the umpire tossed him out of the match. Even though he was saying the words to himself. Let's get decorum back in tennis.

  • Serena was wrong

  • Serena is literally the only one in this story not deserving an apology and the only one who should've handed it to others (both Ramos and Osaka), yet they didn't ask for it, while she did. Hopefully this leaves a mark on her career, as she is known to be spoiled brat and a sore loser.

  • Agree

  • Agreed 100%

  • Well we can just imagine what would have happened if the other player was a white girl with blond hair and blue eyes. Carlos Ramos would be done, at least in the USA, and probably tumults in the streets promoted by BLM would happen. How lucky for Ramos that Osaka was half black.

  • What she won in 23 grand slam titles, she lost it all... Seems very difficult to gain respect again...

  • Serena broke 2 rules directly atop the 1st violation while Osaka broke none. She couldn't do anything about the couching, other than ask her couch to sit on his hands... But the racket break and verbal abuse was all on her, while Osaka waited to play some tennis. Something Serena lost interest in it seems.

  • RACIST/NAZI/BIGOT/ISLAMOPBOBE/ALT RIGHT/TRUMPERS deny proud strong personage of color title victory to protect whitie record. Hands up - don't steal a game. Da hood needs some fires tonite.

  • The scary thing is that the facts are there in plain view for all rational people to see - and yet so much of the media have it that poor little Serena is the victim. Left-tardism.

  • Try and enforce the rules with some folks and they go full chimp - their sense of victimisation / entitlement / privilege is violated when rules are applied to them,

  • The “sexism” if anything is against men. Why do men have to play best of 5 matches vs women who only have to play best of 3, YET the women get paid the same prize money? That is ridiculous and blatant favouritism and sexism. The men have to work and 30% or so in general, meaning more wear and tear on their bodies on top of the fact that some already play at insane levels of intensity ie. watch the recent match against Nadal vs. Thiem. Also, women players draw in less crowds meaning less revenue so more pressure on the event organisers. The player’s pool of prize monies probably have to come from mainly the ticket sales of the men’s matches. Why don’t the modern day “feminists” who always claim feminism is about equality do something about this? It’s simple, FEMINISM ISN’T ABOUT EQUALITY ANYMORE. The lie of feminism: cs-tv.org/tv/video-oBmp8OOJ8sE.html

  • Serena totally out of line. She should apologise to Carlos. Nasty disappointing behaviour. Bullying is bad enough as it is let alone someone with such a high sporting profile displaying such abhorrent behaviour..

  • Men and women should be treated the same. Serena was right on that count. She did be penalized for 2 violations.

  • Serena is wrong. Shes an absolute sore loser and playing the blame game.

  • I don't agree with #1. The first warning was wrong because Serena didn't see the hand signs of her couch as both she and him say. So there was no couching communication between them so no rules were broken. #1 is off. #2 and #3 are on.

  • Wrong

  • I agree , Serena was wrong. She didn't play well and we can can feel that she was under a lot of pressure and made so many mistakes and she wanted to Plame the referee. Well done Osaka.

  • What impressions must we have of americans, if we see one of their inhabbitants behaving very badly and a crowd cheering her on because they want to see her win so badly.....that any behaviour is tolerated , so that they can go home and wave their star spangled banner....

  • She's not above the law she acted disgustingly IMO should be banned for life most have forgot her threatening a line judge too time to quit me thinks

  • Look honey....this is how mommy behaves if she can 't win.....bad mother too.....

  • I saw the full match and Carlos didn't even give her looks while being abused by Serena, very few people has such level of toleration.

  • The offical dont have eyes in the back of their heads, you will see womens tennis be the loser, men will not want to be a part of womens tennis, and that will be called out as sexism.

  • She couldnt pull the race card, too agressive, and it held no weight as opponent is also of colour, so go for the feminist card! That should do it but the opponent is female too!! But thats all thats left so go for it anyway👍👍 well done Serena you lost in every battle here. Simple lesson dont break the rules and no need to claim 'any' victimhood.

  • You are just pointing out Serena's side of double standard while you don't admit of your side ( tennis association's) of double standard ! That'll make you a hypocrite. They hardly ever enforced the code against a male player at THE MOST critical& crucial point of a MAJOR TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!While so many many players have done it & male players choice of words are far worse! They ALL use COACH signs!AND they never got penalized for doing so.. IF there were ...only one maybe!? Despite almost all do & some do that for a PROLONG time ! AND you know Serena Williams has a history of being mistreated by umpires before. They never had given it at the MOST CRUCIAL TIME AT A MAJOR CHAMPIONSHIP GAME , JUST WARNINGS! McEnroe was only one time in 70's again despite he did verbally attacked all the umpires at almost EACH every single game ! That rare that is ! If you are gonna enforce it , then you have to do so on each player every time !!! I haven't seen that for the last 40 PLUS years of watching tennis !!!

  • Yes! Serena broke the rules and could not control herself. She had no right at all to blame it on sexism or anything than her own weakness. And she certainly had no right to steal the limelight from the new young champion.

  • Serena behaved like a bully... what a terrible role model for all the young girls who look up to her.... absolutely disgusting..

  • For goodness sake, it’s not just “thief.” What about “you’re a liar” and “you attacked my character” and “you will never, ever, ever be on another court of mine as long as you live” and “don’t talk to me” and “how dare you insinuate that I was cheating”? All that was said before the game penalty. Three things that very few have picked up on: (1) Ramos never accused Williams of cheating; rather, he saw coaching gestures given by her coach (which he admitted to), plus Serena’s eyes did glance over there; (2) pointing a finger at someone-especially while berating them-is considered a personal affront to many people, and thus is viewed as far worse than uttering an obscenity to blow off steam; (3) calling someone a liar and a thief, and saying “how dare you” constitutes a character assault and, again, is far more serious than uttering an obscenity. Add to those the fact that Serena continued her diatribe over two changeovers. The sad fact is that Serena has proven herself to be the most volatile diva in the tennis world by calling attention to herself in every way: her on-court demeanor, her primal screams after winning a point, the volume of her grunt (it’s a kiai, really) and even her avant-garde (albeit ill-fitting) outfits. Now she’s taken on the status of concluding who owes whom an apology and of referring to courts as belong to her. Name another player on the WTA tour who does that! Back in 2009 Serena ruined Kim Clijsters’ semi-finals victory by using f-words to berate a woman official over a foot fault call (get this: Serena admitted in a later Q&A that she likely did foot fault!), then in 2011 she ruined Sam Stosur’s first and only major win by going on a rant over a verbal hinder. Now she has tainted Naomi’s first major win by another . . . meltdown. Anyone see a pattern here? And now, Serena is on the “victim tour,” claiming all of this happened because she’s a woman. Hooray for Naomi Osaka: she outplayed and outclassed her opponent, and made a big fan out of me. “Double standard”? A recent article in the NYT presents data showing that male tennis pros are fined more than the women, and this also applied to the U.S. Open this year. Historically speaking, Jeff Tarango went off on a Serena-like rant at Wimbledon in 1995 and was subsequently banned from the tournament . . . FOR LIFE! McEnroe was fined more times than you can shake a stick at. Connors was likewise punished for his early “bad boy” attitude, then made a conscious effort to shore up his image, and ultimately was adored by his fans.

  • There is no both sides to the argument. Serena was blatantly wrong. A typical "dindu nuffin".

  • Ramos was absolutely right in doing what he did. Serena is the most arrogant person on court & more so when she is losing. Can never forget the incidence when she threatened a lines woman. She is playing the sexism card to gain sympathy.

  • maybe she is suffering fr anxiety

  • What did she do to her opponent, it was also a girl there?! Since this we realised that man are far more penalised for these types of conduct...she is just a sore loser, an unpleasant arrogant bully. Worse than her outrageous behaviour is the ignorant uneducated crowd and ppl defending undefendable! The whole world is in shock with this display of lack of basic culture and manners.

  • Rules are rule and must be followed. A tennis match is not the place to change the laws of the game. Too bad Williams don’t now that. Well done by the umpire that was not allowed to be bully and enforced the law. 🙏🏾

  • U fucken old lady

  • 200% sore loser !!! Tennis should never lean towards the direction of Serena's, a 23 X GS winner ? Total shame !!! Naomi Osaka 🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽 Carlos Ramos 🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽 Serena Williams 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽

  • Serena is a liar about never cheating and a thief stealing Naomi's best moment in her life.

  • william is gorilla and she is a soar looser

  • Shes UGLY INSIDE OUT...She always does that each time the going gets tough for her...blowing her tantrums using issues on sexism...motherhood...and what else....playing victims and smiling in the end...what a TRUE BITCH u are GORILLA i mean Serena...you thought that u could get away with ur 23 slams so you could do anything on court...rules are rules andcthey must be followed....ur such a disappointment you should RETIRE.

  • She was a disgrace to tennis, I hope that WTA will call her to order. That behavior should be prohibit !!! This time she lost it completely and made the opposite effect - stereotype ...

  • Everybody understand William was wrong she’s behavior was disgraceful she abuse empire which is not the right things that’s the US open organization responsibility teach her a lesson

  • 1,534 to 526 - That's the number of violations in Grand Slams over 20 years men to women. Let the SJW cognitive dissonance begin.....

  • 4:24 is Serena giving a message to Osaka (and Naomi got it). Serena is wrong! Serena cheats and now has to use sexism and the mother card because she's exposed. #stopsteroiduse adult = Carlos Ramos, and Naomi Osaka cheater baby = Serena Williams

  • Serena should be sued for defamation. Wrongly accusing that man on national TV of hating women. Discrimination is not something people should throw lightly. There is no evidence in this man's track record that indicates he hates or has a personal vendetta against female tennis players. He is known to be strict and whatever lack of consistency of OTHER umpires is not his responsibility. Serena defenders are delusional. Quit worshipping athletes and admit when they are wrong.

  • Serena was right in so many ways because the way that Carlos gave a warning to Serena for receiving some coaching ( hand signals ) and honestly that’s not right, he should think twice for looking at Patrick about that and Serena did not see him do that during the footage when Chris Evert showed it during the match. Say all you want everyone, if this triggers you and makes you guys want to say something about this then don’t say it, I’m responding directly to Tennis Now, not to anyone out here

  • Words I heard and read post US open tennis 2018: Serena= classless, self entitled, arrogant, cry baby, sexist, unproffessional, not a role model, crazy, batshit, liar, thief, childish/spoilt brat/immature... Jezzz. Is there an end to this?

  • i'm a fan of serena but i'm just disgusted with her this time with her unprofessionalism. very wrong!!!!

  • Serena was wrong. Her behavior humiliated her. Whatever we get, win or lose, we should not lose our face, dignity.... Osaka surprised by her humbleness 👍👏

  • I am so tired of all this BS. Big up to Naomi Osaka the future of tennis. Oh yeah, SW may never win another GS title as there are so many new and younger upcoming talent like Osaka, Barti, Keys, Vandeweghe, Halep, Pliskova , Kerber, Stephens, Sharapova still has time also. Hmph. It's gonna be rough.
