Like the "When last we met I was but a learner" line Darth says, people say that's a plot hole Obi-Wan fixed... no it didn't, it wasn't a hole. Anakin was days into his Sith training on Mustafar when he and Kenobi fought, ergo, just a learner.

To be fair, most things aren't really "real" until they hit live-action. That was the first live-action appearance of the Darksaber, and it did, in fact, reveal it's fate after the events of Rebels.
