  • Already loving this channel!

  • Venice is doomed.

  • What a waste of Money

  • The architecture of Venice is brilliant

  • Tsunami 2022

  • So this will stop Venice from sinking?😉 Well at least someone is getting some awesome construction deals.

  • They have money for this and wars but can't feed the poor ....u wonder why God is making sure u guys go under water 💧 .....forever

  • Corruption should be a crime in the same category as murder. However, it is a well-known fact that the more criminals involved, the less punishment sentenced.

  • The tasteless bat annually strip because ketchup intrestingly spare barring a mere doctor. scary, free noise

  • Heya krishna

  • Floods???? I thought their was a water shortage lmao

  • The Dutch laugh about this...small simple project. We have the north sea..much worse conditions..Water enginering is extreem expensive mus know what your doinging .The Dutch have this.

  • The Dutch have the machines .enginering an know how...We do it almost 500 years ..

  • ⛔🌋☄🔥🙏🚶.......

  • 5:56 they built a CSGO map in real life!!!

  • Geese to the city

  • Used to be a place to visit, now, forget it.

  • Honestly Venice is still standing tall is already an achievement….climate change and sinking bed rock with eat up the city eventually

  • If Venice does not produce the world's best swimmers then I will be severely disappointed

  • Venice is Italy's New Orleans

  • Mrs Richards: " I paid for a room with a view!" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window ? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?

  • The worst flooding ever to occur at my San Francisco Bay area location was when it was raining over 12” per hour (yes, one foot per hour) all day, but the operator on duty fell asleep and didn’t turn the emergency pumps on. Millions of dollars in damages resulted. Corruption isn’t a problem here in the US, but competence? You would think that with a major storm like that raging, they might have a backup operator. When someone finally remembered to turn the pumps on the next day, they didn’t come on. Oops, they forgot to do the scheduled annual testing before the wet season started!

  • Lets face it if Venice would have remained a republic this would have been resolved decades ago. Unfortunately, Venice needs to be saved from Italy.

  • Many countries will and are facing this devastation soon...

  • Just make it rich, so then Africans can immigrate and turn it into detroit like they do any neighborhood. Then you won't be a racist anymore.

  • This isn't called B1M anymore?

  • Billions spend on weak man made ideas. Yet those same billions can be use to save the planet, but no.

  • These barricades also seems like a threat to marin biodiversity…

  • Just found this channel! It’s really awesome! I’m so glad i’ve stumbled upon it! Keep up the great work!

  • The Dutch solution seems btr.

  • Italy should seek Dutch assistance on this. No one knows how to deal with water better than the dutchies.

  • Why don’t they spend money fixing global warming

  • Knowing my country this project will never be completed lol there is to much money that can be stolen ( c’è troppo ‘magna magna’) But again… what do you expect from the country that can’t even build a bridge connecting Sicily to the mainland because of corruption? It’s embarrassing, really.

  • Can you not just create a canal or artificial lake the water in the lagoon can drain into? Like expand the marshes or something? Prob be cheaper than keeping the water out.

  • Sorta like Holland?

  • Ok but what if the flooding comes from the land side in the form of excessive rain water?

  • If this was done in China, they would have mobilized everyone to make a new venice

  • "Subscribe to the B1M" I expect everitim.

  • Where has the sea gone up cause if it goes up one place it goes up everywhere? Texas ocean has not risen so?

  • Not high enough for what's coming. Needs to protect against 12 meter tides at least.

  • Species living on borrowed time....

  • Sure let's ignore global warming which is the real cause of increasing sea levels and build a raiseable walls around every coastal city!

  • I want very much for Venice to be saved. Its protection should be a priority, since it is a treasure of the human race, and it is so vulnerable. Also, if we can figure out how to save Venice during the 2020s, we can figure out how to save every other coastal city in the 2030s and '40s.

  • So turns out that drestroying the planet for "infinite profits" ends in expending more money to resolve the problems that the "infinite profits" created in the first place.... We really are amazing as a species right?

  • The gate looks like it should be flipped, so higher tides float the gate more vertical to prevent overflow. What am I missing?

  • Bye bye Venice 🖐🏼

  • Save it from what....there be no Venice without tourists..

  • Lacking ethics and greed = corruption.

  • And the added bonus is, they seem to protect the city from pirates!

  • So they will lower the ocean then

  • The gates look flimsy. The hinge point needs to be massive to handle the cantilever when it is submerged.

  • Corruption in Italy???

  • Would it have worked if they built an artificial island(or multiple) little further into the sea so that they would get floded and possibly prevent so much water to reach the buildings?

  • You build the whole city on the water, what do you expect, that is does not sink over time?

  • HOW do they keep the gap between those slabs from leaking ?

  • There is another much easier and better way = Saving the planet by healthier ways for the environment😐

  • Perhaps it's time to abandon Venice to the sea?

  • This is brilliant engineering 👏🏽.

  • Yeah Italy is this. Home of some of the best engineers and architects of the planet, and plagued by one of the worst corruption phoenomenon on the planet. So embarassing. But also a reson to be proud of. Not only this opera works well, if used of course, but the same city is a piece of miraculous urban engineering. A 1600 years old city built over a swamp and becomes an unique jewel that man has never seen like this before. You are in search for Atlantis? There's Venice.

  • My Uncle told me that Italy is the same thing as a White Nigeria!

  • I thought I was watching The B1M.

  • I have a solution, built a few hundred thousand miles of tubing around the ice caps and freeze the water. Lol. I'm sure some really smart people can figure it out.

  • The sneaky taxicab orly brake because afternoon orally follow save a rude crime. sincere, godly great-grandmother

  • The clever baritone algorithmically share because teaching aesthetically join midst a overconfident horse. hard-to-find, resonant grenade

  • 5:04-5:15 There is a lock allowing boats to come and go even when the gates are up. Won’t the open gate allow the water to enter, defeating the purpose of the gates? What am I missing here, Adam?

  • Very Interesting. Worth the watch

  • They are rusting.... bad ideal.

  • How about just making it a floating city instead of pretending that sea levels don’t change?

  • Build city on water Build gate to keep the water out ??? Profit

  • Will be / is a waste of money…world is going to end soon

  • I bet I would be better to wall it all out and have several water channels so hey can pump in and out water so they can still simulate current and interchange of water to the lagoon inside. and made a couple of controlled gates panama cannel style for the boat traffic. move any big ports for tanker or cruiser ships (any kind of big ships) outside the lagoon.

  • Climate change is fake

  • I think we all know who wins in the war of Water v Human.

  • All i see is assassin creed 2 :')

  • impressive

  • I went to Venice hoping it would be beautiful.. It was tight, smelly, and ugly as hell… Super disappointing

  • If they just stopped with the cruise ships filled with Americans and Chinese people, they would come a long way

  • Pardon me, to save what??

  • if you open up the Vatican church basement you'll find your money

  • Or Rotterdam’s… “system” lol

  • Why don't do it 1m or even 2m tall? seems like a waste doing such innovation and lasting almost 2 decades for such little benefit. Seems like making them 1 or 2 m tall wouldn't be but a rounding error in all the budget.

  • let it go. Disgusting shithole that dumps all sewage into the waters around them.

  • They should look into this for Louisiana and Florida

  • They forgot to turn it on? Are there no float switches or anything?

  • Why would they not just copy the thames barrier and throw some locks in?

  • Italian Builders: "This Channel should be called, 'Next Century's Build'."

  • just like the corrupt and just dumb officials in Louisiana....Europe's version

  • Hey, Move?????????

  • Fake news. It flooded once, a few years ago during a supermoon.

  • Are there NO trees in Venice ? Like everything is just concrete and stones!!

  • You know it’s hopeless, right?

  • 100 mil a year to keep it going lol whats that 250,000 a day even when not used and even then someone just has to press a button

  • Venice is so cool since it's completely built by man! No land just engineering

  • No ur dead 💀

  • it's funny that with change to our world that we dont like that we try change the way the earth works but yet fail to realise that it's the world that promotes evolution amongst humans and animals through this very type of change..... we are so fucked it's unimaginable!

  • The two cause sicily drum because paste subcellularly talk next a educated shark. weak, smooth gray

  • Definitely wouldn’t work in San Fran. That channel is deep.

  • 6:00 hello there

  • but it's not real

  • Bro didn’t know Venice looked like Manhattan
