  • What's really impressive is how it somehow still looks like a 3d render when filmed in real life 😅

    • @hirosima1984 "1984" ok 👍

    • @hirosima1984then dont buy it, ez 🗿

    • @hirosima1984 I think youre in the wrong channel man, theres no Marcus here lol

    • @hirosima1984 what's your idea of a beautiful car design, give me some examples.

    • I think I actually like the look of the all metal roof better . I love the size and Space. Getting child in and out of my model s is a bit of a pain . Unique design . I just do the how do I feel driving it and walking up to it feel . If it passes that it’s all good .

  • This car exterior looks splendid, for me. I don't mind the 2 tones and the back. 1 tone is nice too. The front looks amazing.

    • Nah it’s ugly man

    • @W. Camera when you say it's meh, I assume you mean it's bland. I think that's exactly why it's appealing. It's clean and streamline, something that I think is timeless. The evs you mentioned are fantastic looking as well, but in a different way. They're more bold and flashy, and I think are more prone to being out of style in the future than something that encapsulates simplicity.

    • Styling is meh.Only the E-Tron GT and Taycan have great exterior styling when it comes to these luxury EVs.Its interior is nice though.

    • Yeah idk why the hate in the back. Clean, sleek, and streamline. Looks good

    • It blows a Model S away as far as asthetics! I live in south Florida and every other car is a Model S. I've seen 3 Lucids and even the base shits on Teslas. I've not heard one person say a Model S looks better. From his haircut I wouldn't put much stock in his styling opinion.

  • I think the tradeoff for seat space vs. Trunk space is worth it more often than not.

    • @satyan that's why having a huge and actually usable front trunk in this one should be an advantage over the not so practical beach trunk.

    • In Asia where most men are 170-180cm tall, we often find cabin space to be wasteful. A bigger boot is better!

    • @Padlock Steve people with kids like every day

  • Great work Marques, the quick and easy, nice stream of consciousness style really suits these auto videos. Keep it up!

  • The new iPhone camera is so good he can record a whole video with it and I wouldn't notice lmao

    • Not really. Yes it good but compared to like even a $400 camera it's just barely comparable. You can tell this was recorded on a phone

    • @High-Value Target Racing Iphone > Samsung

    • Yes, it finally caught up to Samsung.

    • Ummm that's not new it's always been like that and there software to make it work even better

    • @Tiptop For this type of channel maybe. Not others.

  • Love that they went with a frosted chrome instead of glossy chrome for the interior trim.

    • brushed* and polished* i think are the words you're looking for

    • What car manufacturer has glossy chrome in their interiors???

  • Don't love the trunk side design but I do love how wide these types of trunks open which makes whatever space it has much more usable.

  • When I was a kid I always used to dream about how transportation would look in the future. This is the thing that in my mind comes closest to it.

    • I had a similar thought indeed. I used to draw futuristic looking cars and the lucid comes quite close.

  • I like it, glad they were able to put out something compelling. Hope they will be successful. Would be great to have a new generation of US companies (for ex Tesla, Rivian, Lucid) out there that might have a fighting chance at competing with Chinese vehicles. I wish the best for legacy players but they might have too much baggage.

    • @Carl Saudi Arabia owns more than 60% of the company. So... Who owns Lucid Motors?...

    • @angela1984a it's headquartered in the us, all production and development is in the us. It's publicly traded in the us. but yea because saudis sovereign wealth fund invested in it it's a .... Saudi arabian company?

    • Well... To bad Lucid isn't an American company...

    • @Nathaniel - sure, kia/hyundai and vinfast? japan isn't really doing much

    • Asian Vehicles*

  • The front hood is beautiful - it's got kind of like an infinity effect because there's no horizon line, no matter from where you look. The back hatch has a weird shape, though

  • As a Tesla owner, I really like the Lucid. I sat in the back of one, I'm 6'2, and the legroom I had was superior to almost any car I've ever been in. And as an adult I haven't been in the backseat of too many cars but the ones that I have been in the back of don't even come close to comparing

  • Lucid Air is my dream car but can't justify the price. Realistically I think I'll probably go for a Polestar 2 - hoping you'll get a chance to test one of those soon. Saw one in the wild on I95 in Maine back in September and couldn't get over how slick it looked.

  • I really love the look overall. However, the design philosophy uses the lines, colors, and elements, etc. we're used to seeing on yachts and private jets. I can see how it would be polarizing as automotive design. I wasn't sure if I liked it at first, but it was always striking and intriguing.

  • When I first saw the Lucid air, I wondered why they styled everything from the front on back to look like a car from a different era. What I’d really love to see from Lucid is a wagon/hatchback like a Porsche Panamera or Audi A6 Avant.

  • I love the sprint mode's suggestion! It reminds the driver of the powerful horse they're wielding so as to not lose focus and control. Just a reminder and certainty

  • Waiting for lucid as a car brand to become a little more approachable as a car company financially

    • I think this car is very nice but im completely baffled by the price, interior is cool but still looks extremely cheap for what they’re charging. You can buy a Mercedes s class in that range.

    • @misteratoz National average price for a new car is getting close to $50,000. So really a $65000 tesla isn't that far of base. A Nissan Armada costs about the same (for perspective).

    • You'll be waiting for many years. Even Tesla isn't affordable

    • the one that you can get cost 180k, absolutely not worth it and ridiculous

  • absolutely love how you just shoot these videos with an iphone. Really shows that its all about the content and not about having the best equipment

  • Just keep in mind that with this car there's no service centers and no first-party charging network. And as he said, reliant on Electrify America, which is unreliable at best. So you're lucky to get 350 kw :) But awesome looking car.

  • I would love to see more affordable / smaller cars. A main concern to many is, how much do they need to spend for an ev? What is bad to see in an ev? What are things one should look out for and which features are good or bad in the long term? Love the videos so far :)

    • It'll come. As more of the big manufacturers jump on board, EV costs will continue to drop. We already have the 2023 Chevy bolt coming in at 30k for pretty respectable range and features. Once Toyota, Ford, Mazda, Honda, and Hyundai get on board...it'll be a race to get customers in their EVs first.

  • the clamshell style trunk improves aerodynamics (more range), reduces cabin noise (more luxurious riding experience), and allows for a larger glass canopy (really sick views)

  • I really like the styling of the Air, but as always, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

  • Hey, I loved the video! I love the lucid air and the tech and luxury that it provides. I would love to see a comparison between the BMW i7 and the Lucid Air and see which one is better. Keep on keeping on!

  • Great quality video as ever! I think there is a lot to be said for some collab's on car reviews. Pulling in someone really familiar with car reviews for ride, handling etc then the tech side covered as is. I've seen car reviewers be completely okay with subpar touch screens and UI in cars yet tech youtubers pull them on it as unacceptable. Vice versa, not a whole lot on the actual drive experience from the tech side.

  • Just wanted to say I really like your videos. Living in Norway, so EV's are pretty much the only cars people buy around here. I'm looking forward to seeing the Lucid in real life! Looks great!

    • @Bert In and around the cities, a lot of people use public transportation because it's convenient and punctual. However, most people in Norway have at least one or two cars. Especially if they don't live in the inner city areas. There are still people driving fossil fueled cars in Norway, but the recent figures show that more than 50% of all new cars sold in Norway are pure electric. This has a number of reasons. One of the most important reasons is that the sales tax on EV's is much lower than on fossile fueled cars, along with a number of other economic benefits. The infrastructure around charging is also great. Also, people in Norway generally makes a fairly good living, so affording this is not a very big issue. In fact, owning a new EV in Norway is way cheaper than owning a new fossile fueled car. So it just makes sense :)

  • I think the lucid air looks really nice. The bubble butt is a little weird, but I think the front viser thing looks real neat. As far as looks I prefer the lucid air over teslas.

  • The pass through to the trunk from the middle seat is perfect for skis 🎿 etc. when going cross country or downhill skiing without needing a box on the roof, and still seating 4 passengers in comfort. We Norwegians love to see that!

  • Once again I agree with you on this review. I enjoy your sensible style to functionality & look of vehicles. Plus at this price, you would expect the best from a production car. I am glad you touched on the software because as with many, the car software needs improvement based on other reviews.

  • To me it looks beautiful, absolutely stunning

  • Overall, I love the look of the Lucid Air. From day one. The rear quarter is something that bothered me from from day one. Not enough to not want the car. I do think it is interesting what did with the two screens but agree that there needs to be a way to run two apps at the same time. As far as the comments on not knowing it was shot on a iphone, I could tell right away. I appreciate the reason for it and like the style, just prefer the look of a dedicated camera. A few years ago it was extremely easy to tell and turned me away from some videos. Today it can be much harder to tell.

    • Aahh. Basically a full introspective person like me. Very observant on everything and I've fully loved the lucid as well. My only flaw was the color options which was fully settled to me with the Sapphire .

  • Extending the trunk area giving it a bigger caboose would make the whole car look better.

    • needs a wagon version. That would be sweet

  • It just occurred to me that Lucid cous have made the trunk open right upto to the back of the headrests. A bit like the Aston Martin Rapide boot. (Although that is much longer). This would give better access to the boot and also make it look less strange when open.

  • I know looks are objective but I think the car has French Citroën DS cues in the design - I think it’s absolutely gorgeous. Also you can’t combine swift mode and smooth mode because suspension dampening IS part of performance. You can’t engage in maximum sprint performance and expect S-Class like dampening… what a weird take.

  • I think it would look better if they lengthened it a bit and gave it a proper trunk. I'm not sure if this car competes with the S Class or E Class but it looks like it's sized like an E.

  • you kidding me? it looks incredible. like so pure so futuristic.

  • Glovebox buttons on touchscreens are often linked to 'valet mode', thus eliminating the need for a seperate glovebox key. I like the look of the Air, although the booty looks a bit odd. Will be interesting to see their SUV which is being launched in a few days.

    • A button can still be easily linked to valet mode.

  • Looking at all these car startups with like no budget options, I must say the biggest momentum towards electric is still from manufacturers like Hyundai, Nissan, Ford etc. Hyundai really stands out in particular because they give you what you want for the price most can afford.

  • This is my favorite EV on the market today. Love everything about it.

    • Do you love that Lucid Motors is owned by Saudi Arabia?

  • Thumbs up to the HVAC controls being easily accessible thank you for doing that but screen share should be independent thank you

  • I saw Michael Bidwell (Arizona Cardinals owner) rolling on the streets in one of these. It had some sick 24 inch rims or something close to that size. It was ultra dope. Never seen an EV look so good.

  • I think it's gorgeous, and I love that range. I agree with the charging network, but it's on my list someday 🤘

  • I would buy a lucid over the MODEL S plaid however for the price I would buy a base model S that’s much cheaper on the lower specs but if your spending over 110k on a car and want EV lucid is the way to go. It’s gonna be my next car for sure.

  • By far my favourite EV out to date and I love the unique french esqe styling. To me these handily beat Tesla, Mercedes etc for best luxury EV

    • How do you feel about your favourite EV-maker Lucid Motors being owned by Saudi Arabia?

  • The Lucid engineering deep dives videos are very eye opening. Upper-midsize Lucid truck please!!!

  • I like that you don't have sport or sprint mode as default. That's so much acceleration to "forget about".

  • I really want to drive one, being that the man who created it wanted it to handle like the e39 m5 bmw. Which is one of the best driving cars I think ever made Having driven nearly 200 different cars, I hope this delivers in the driver experience

  • Love the Lucid Air, what a fabulous ❤ car

  • Marques: I don't like the design of this car also Marques: I love the Cybertruck's design

    • That's a very bold design to make. Either you'll very much like Cybertruck or very much hate it. And it's quite true that the "rear bubble" looks fugly as 90000$ car compared to what one will pay for a 40000$ Cybertruck.....

  • Looks really nice I must say, will be cool to see how they do ones starting to mass produce. Are they working on any self-driving features? Anyone knows?

    • @Johannes Koren Hage ah okay cool :) thank you!

    • I think they are working on something they call DreamDrive, but don't know if it's available yet.

  • Love the look of this car, and I make decent money.. I still can’t convince myself to spend as much on a car as I spent on my house 4 years ago…

  • I like 99% of the look, I have to agree the rear of the vehicle is less appealing than the rest. That and the sticker, I'd faint dead-a-way at the price. Lastly, thanks for the NE flashback to blinker!!

  • Would love it if you could also include your opinion on assisted driving features for your next videos!

  • I appreciate everything about the Lucid Air and what it offers as an EV enthusiast. However I'm very skeptical due to the poor infrastructure charging network and the tremendous price tag. It may be far from a Tesla Killer, but it is still an amazing car nonetheless and I really hope to see more of these cars in the future.

  • Love this car. I've seen it in person. Stil very uncommon. Good idea to buy the stock

  • I personally love the exterior more than the interior!

  • the shape and 2 tone looks great classy and sexy ...great job ...not liking it is a subjective thing I didn't like the front bezel where it says lucid but I'm fine with it now and it makes sense for the front looking a bit distinctive and recognizable from far away ....the trunk opening being a bit small and weird is fine for a saloon car and the frunk makes up for it

  • The stabilization of the iPhone 14 is crazy

  • It looks awesome to me. It's the best looking car out there.

  • It looks like a futuristic movie car. And that's cool! 😁

  • Great looking car, looking forward to their mass-market SUV version.

  • Just get it wrapped as you did and the car will look really good. Also, since there are two videos which you made - I can really see the difference between the iPhone and RED camera setup !!

  • My girlfriend told me she saw a new car yesterday that she had never seen before, and it was a Lucid. My immediate thought was "I wonder if MKBHD will make a video on the Auto Focus channel for this car". Low and behold, here it is, less than 24 hours later.

    • @Marques Brownlee well what do u think will lucid survive?

    • @Marques Brownlee That must have been you at the Chicago airport then! :P

    • That was me. I drove past your girl

  • The miles per charge is pretty underated here. It actually has enough to pretty much erase range anxiety. Wish other companies had that tech.

  • Can you comment on how they made the rear trunk that way? I thought you couldn't have your brake lights on a moving panel like that

  • The pass-through to the trunk is for skis. This is extremely common in Europe.

  • I think the Lucid Air looks like the Superman of electric cars. Gender-neutral but super slick. I saw one in Maroon a couple months ago and it looks better in person. Then again it reminds me of my beloved Kia Optima 2017. 😊

  • Marques, would love to see a comparison between the Lucid and Mercedes EQS sedan/suv.

  • The future of cars is honestly looking really nice, they’re finally changing and becoming cooler and more tech-filled 😄

    • Less reliable? an electric car less reliable ?

    • Less reliable and more expensive as well

  • Hahaha once you said whale shark, I can un-see that now. But I still like the Lucid Air. I hope they keep growing and improving. And very nice handheld phone camera action. I like the wrap around transitions.

  • I actually love the design/look of the Lucid! It only my bank account that refuses to comply 😂🤣

  • I would love for people to do these reviews and try to put a stroller in the trunk. That to me is a determining factor

  • Great review. Just wish Lucid would let me live with one of their cars for a week.

  • They need to make one with the back window trunk opening yes like a hatchback!

  • Damn. I’m not sure I would have noticed this was shot on an iPhone if he didn’t say so.

    • I would hope you notice. You can tell from the reflection on the car.

  • would really love for you to take a look at some hybrids on this channel too. all EV doesn't make sense in the middle of the midwest, but I'd like to hear about some hybrids that are worthwhile, particularly plug in hybrids.

  • It’s a gorgeous car. I think MKBHD is too young to appreciate the styling. That’s not an insult. I think it’s intentional on the part of Lucid. On main channel, he specifically mentioned the two-tone paint as reminiscent of the old Lincoln style. That’s what makes it awesome!

  • Apart from the significantly higher price and the Lucid looks rather cluttered inside, I'm happy to drop a "luxurious feel" and a few gimmicks for a reliable and user-friendly charging network.

  • Love these vids and in depth look at new vehicles!

  • I think it's easy to one up Tesla if you charge more than Tesla. I'll be impressed if they start matching prices.

  • *I'm done sitting tight for the award advance since i acquire$23,000 every 12 days of my investment.❤*

    • Count me in , I’m placing my trade with Expert Charles ASAP

    • This is really helpful for my situation I think for people to talk all this good about him he must be an expert,

    • Amazing I also started trading with him recently. $180,000 profits in just 2 months and still counting, Mr Charles is the crypto trade king as far am concerned.

    • It has been awesome, really crypto is very frustrating.. I was astonishing how I made $71,380 with $14k as a Novice. I got to put in some $$$ in it tho .

    • @Pratima Rose THANKS A LOT I HAVE CONTACTED HIM NOW AND HE RESPONDED I SEE THIS AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO ESCAPE MY FINANCIAL SITUATION ☺️.

  • Loved the video, I would like to address the elephant in the room, I've did my research back when I was looking to change my old car, I considered electric 1st but ended up going gas, mostly because I couldn't find good information on how electric cars components degrade and loose resale value, I'm not talking about this 100k+ cars, more normal consumer price range, I can't afford to buy a 30-50k electric car and then try to sell it a few years later but the battery has degraded a lot and reduced range and charge retention, completely crashing the resale value. Maybe that's a good idea for a video, hopefully, that doesn't conflict with sponsorships or something but it's a real topic a lot of us. Long time follower, keep up the excellent work.

    • As lucid owners have stated, first year of ownership, mileage has only degraded by about 2-4 miles. The dream owner with more than 7k miles at 100% charge gets 515

  • Good review. Nice luxury electric car. With as much money as is reported that Lucid is losing, at some point - present and future buyers have to worry how long this company will survive.

  • Saw one in Austin, TX. Huge car. Camera does not do it justice to the sheer size and presence this vehicle has.

  • The crazy thing about this car is that it’s motor is even more efficient than Tesla’s, which is an incredibly efficient car.

  • It gets by default back to smooth mode to encourage the driver to drive responsibly and to maximize the range.

  • "Beats Tesla in terms of luxury" Not exactly difficult to do lmao

  • Not a fan of ev's in general but i must say it looks like one of the best EV's coming out. The front end is fabulous. I definately do not like the wheel hubs tho.

  • The car makes your audio amazing it sounds very even when you are in it and all doors closed

  • Great car, looks much better than the Mercedes EQS and also the interior looks more premium.

  • That’s a very hot take imo lol. One of the most beautiful cars out there

  • Besides the weird trunk/boot mouth, I have been obsessed with how amazing this car looks for a year+! It is simply gorgeous!! 😍 I like the Model 3 most out of the Teslas, but the ugly half-baked back ends look shoddily designed, like they were in a rush and just went with the first-draft sketches. 🙈 I’ve loved Elon for ever and really want Tesla to step up to Lucid’s quality, so that Tesla will be my first electric car. 🤩 🤞🏼 🙏🏼 ❤️

  • I really like this series. Keep up the good work

  • I really prefer cars using standard chargin gnetworks than their own "lucid" or "tesla" , just like gas stations, could you imagine if you had specific gas stations per car brand? having specific charge stations per brand is a thing that will and I think now drives down EV sales, because tesla charges are not usable by other brands and vice versa.

  • It's definitely note worthy that they dont even have many software dev positions available too

    • They have a total of 3900 employees. Tesla has 99000 (if a google is right (Don't hold me to that number if I'm wrong)) So shear positions available to total positions might average out.

  • I like the fair review! I think its a good looking car and have been able to sit in one. The interior is fantastic! Plus… it is built in Casa Grande, AZ!

  • I think the front of the Lucid is pretty good looking. Back is just wierd, like they tried to take on the taycan and failed. Front definitely looks less fish like than the Taycan or Tesla model 3

  • I really like the looks of the car. And I think it also resembles the Mercedes CL cars a bit.

  • Rear 3/4 is really ugly... Front is pretty nice. I still rather have a larger trunk than a large frunk. My 2013 RWD Model S had the super-large frunk, super-large trunk, and 3rd row. That was great. Also, the importance of software is not to be under-estimated. Buggy FW or glitchy UI is just infuriating. Also, for road trips, the longer range of the Lucid is nice, but I would take shorter range + 100% better charging network over the longer range any day.

    • @Jakov Brižić You can believe what you want with "rankings" or "reliability ratings" whose metrics are questionable in terms of actual relevance all you want... I've owned 4 Tesla vehicles, the first of which was early 2013 (ten years ago) and the latest is a Model X I took delivery 2 months ago. My brother owns one, my parents own two, approx. a dozen family members of mine own at least one, about 15 friends of mine own them, and probably dozens of my direct coworkers as well. So I can say that real-world reliability with Tesla is actually very high. Of course, you don't have to believe some random guy on a CS-tv comment and there's no way I can prove my experience, but just keep in mind that the sources you base your opinion on may very likely be wrong.

    • @kenken830 i'm not so sure. Tesla, while a revolutionary car maker, ranks pretty high in the "most unreliable" bracket with 176 mechanical faults per 100 vehicles, while the industry median is 121... If software is your thing, than sure, go for it. But if you like to drive, better skip Tesla. As I said, Tesla is a revolutionary car, but a poorly made car.

    • @Jakov Brižić I would avoid Lucid because of the buggy software. That can probably be fixed, but that may never happen. Also, Tesla is just a way better value for your money.

    • Basicly, if you want an electric drivers car, you'll get Lucid. If you want a cool PC with turbo wheels, you'll get a Tesla. And if you want to waste as much money as possible, you'll get a Mercedes EQS.

  • 14 Pro is Simply Wonderful…….Even at 1080p it looks beautiful 😍

  • The new channel was a great idea. Focus on these new vehicle technologies for a specific audience. Maybe try getting your hands on the Hyperion xp1. It's a hypercar but it's to my knowledge the first car that uses H2 as fuel.

  • I like how it looks, seems like an interesting car
