There was a guy who started a 100% speedrun of cookie clicker, which would take a hard minimum of 1 year (since playing for a year is one of the achievements) but he abandoned it for personal reasons. I still want to see someone do it.
100% speedrun would require the shadow achievements aswell, right?

Story time! I got berated by the Undertale speed run discord community because I asked if there was any sort of record for buying the game and not moving past the "Do Not Move" sign. I thought I was going to have a nice giggle with a few folks but instead they called me trash because I didn't actually play the whole game literally never getting beyond the wooden sign. So even though I played making my own decisions just like the fanbase praises the game for letting you do, it was a sad moment that left me salty at that community. But I still refuse to play the game more and leave that sign, thats just how I enjoyed the game 10/10

I don't think that they would do that because depriving yourself of sleep has serious and dangerous consequences. It would be promoting danger.
I definitely agree that people shouldn’t put their health on the line for a game record, but I don’t see the challenge in this run if it’s just you keeping a computer on for months. That being said it’s a meme record so it’s not like it has any cachet in the community.
There could probably be a rule in place for things like this, where the time stops for important things like sleeping or going to work, but time can go on for a few minutes for something smaller like serving yourself food or using the bathroom
The thing is that there are legitimate speedruns that are several days long, so forcing the runner to be awake during the entire run would be detrimental to people who want to do certain runs.
I feel sorry for the people that had to validate it.
