  • chargela did better than me on my first try

    • lasted longer than I did 😥

    • is there a colab incoming with those dirty australian slot machines?

    • I knew I would not be the only one with this mind after seeing chargla in action

    • Maybe chargla needed some music?

    • And last ;)

  • I love that she took a 4 year break, and STILL finished her truck before Tesla released the Cybertruck.

    • She could’ve taken 10 years and still would have beaten Tesla

    • @@anusername8350 her unexistsnt great great children could do it and still would beat Tesla.

    • There's a difference between concept and mass producing for hundred thousands person

    • Lol underrated comment

    • @@ariihauu_mrs But also a difference between a single garage engineer and an industry-leading corporation

  • That's all really cool and pretty exciting, but the it can not be overstated how funny it looks seeing Chargla "anxiously and nervously" approach the Truckla port

    • Haha, right?

    • yeah, then she NPCs the Tesla mantra now.

    • I really wanted some sort David Attenborough voiceover for that part of the video. "The the charger approaches tentatively... "

    • @@ricksarvas6563 Maybe in the 2033 24k AI upscale remaster

    • It was his first time. Give him some cred.

  • The fact it has been 4 years hit me way too hard, wtf.

  • "Picking up the broken promises of the car world." Nailed it.

    • I love Truckla. It would be nice to see any auto company release such a small truck in America today. They do get made & sold for SE Asia and other areas. Dozens of hours into a prototype charger that saves 5 seconds per day. Anyone can build a prototype. Mass production is hard. I wonder who said that?

    • Like the broken promises of EV's in general, it will be a looooooooooooooong time before those pieces ever get sorted.

    • @@Nphen The Ford Maverick is pretty close to the Model 3 dimensions.

  • Chargla is the closest robot I've seen in demeanor to the fire extinguisher bot from Iron Man

  • Must have been a lot of pressure for Chargela to have his first time on camera... ;-) -Daven

    • It's _Love, Actually._

    • I know........ And not a single Barry White CD around when he needed it ! :D

    • @@Reman1975 Absolutely would have worked much smoother is it started playing Can't Get Enough Of Your Love Baby before approaching.

    • Performance anxiety. 😟

    • Hah! Find the right hole or you're a shitty robot.

  • I like how Chargela's design is inspired by nature in the way it, uh, makes sure there is a solid connection. Also Truckla is a sweet mod.

    • Remember it’s a whole robot just so you don’t have to press one button on a cable

  • Just saw the short wherein an Attenborough-esqe voiceover narrates the Chargela "docking" sequence. On top of Truckla's/Chargela's existence, I'd just like to thank Simone for listening to the fans and bringing this wonderful bit of CS-tv gold to reality. It's really made my day!

  • This sparks joy. Chargla still needs some balancing since it still looks a litte top- and front-heavy BUT i've seen other attempts from big companies not looking that good in later stages of development. So: Two thumbs up!

  • Watching y'all watch the robot hump the car... Gold. Great job on both Truckla and Chargela.

  • I love how cute you make everything! Feels like such a wholesome engineering and mechanical and woodworking corner of CS-tv that even I, the complete opposite of all of those, enjoys watching every time 🥰🥰

  • honestly the team watching the charger slowly approach and make contact with Truckla felt like zookeepers watching two almost-extinct animals copulate successfully for the first time

  • Feeling a lot more confident about myself after seeing Chargela 😌

  • I've been wondering about truckla, I'm so happy for her, she met her soul mate with chargela 🥰 I wish them both many happy years together ❤

  • No lie I think your videos are the reason I’m gonna give electrical work a try as a career.

  • Thanks for the update 👊 I totally lost it at the thrusting 😂

  • It's nice to see two projects come together

  • Don't worry Chargela, the first time is always awkward!

    • Imagine three people and a dog watching you on your first time? Talk about performance anxiety 😮

    • okay you win the internet for today I'm dead 🤣🤣

    • I call myself experienced and it seemed elegant to me

    • Am I the only one who heard the Turtle and the Croc audio, during that portion of the video? I think they should add a speaker...

    • you always remember your first

  • One of the most unique and creative channels that I've come across. Nice work!

  • Truckla is looking great, and chargela did amazing under pressure! I think chargela might benefit from a lower jerk (smoother acceleration) motion profile. Because of the very top heavy design, any large *changes* in acceleration (ie jerk) is very much seen in the disjointed mass. By reducing your jerk and slowly ramping up that acceleration, the sudden change up top is not as strongly felt, and will make positioning easier and the whole robot safer from tipping!

    • It's faster to plug your own car in when you get home. Okay, maybe if you walk away you're saving 5 seconds while Chargela takes 30 seconds to plug in. But what if it misses? This is probably why Tesla never went anywhere after making their own prototype. Mass manufacturing takes effort. And what's the market for a $3k robot that saves you no time over a $300 wall charger?

    • @@Nphen plugging in the charger by yourself would not make an engaging CS-tv video. It's ok to have fun for fun's sake.

    • @@Nphen I think Tesla may have been worried about press featuring _tentacle pr0n_

  • Nice update video, that ending somehow is perfect for your channel. Actually finishing projects is always hard, got some issues with that myself those last details that are at times important too (like waterproofing) are worth getting done as tedious as they might be. Would've been absolutely essential here where I live but I guess in LA it can wait.... a few years. I must admit I was slightly disappointed in the tailgate not being automatic in its opening and closing, but it certainly looks sturdy and functional. I'm not sure how I'd describe that scene when observing the charger trying to do its thing for the first time, be wary of rogue teslas getting near chargela though! They might want to steal some free electricity.

  • Thanks for this update on this major project. I love when creators and artists update us on their projects, builds, and pieces of art and show us how they are doing / working out so many years later. It really informs us if it is worth all of the work, but more importantly financial cost of a project like these.

  • I love how she was like, "I only did Truckla to 80%" And then did the fix ups to 80% too

  • The charger dry humping the Truckla wasn't the least bit awkward. 🥺

    • oof eef oof eef... like that turtle video.

    • Oh, not at all.

    • I came here to post a similar comment 😂

    • I was having flashbacks from my honeymoon..😳

    • there was a spark.

  • I like the intro, where Simone describes every project car I've ever had.

  • Great to see you got Truckla upgraded and use it all the time. It seemed like a lot of work to build and we have not seen it for years.

  • Haven seen you on CS-tv for a while and it great to have you back.

  • Well done! nice to see you were able to figure out how the door shuts when done charging. Nice follow-up.

  • This is consistently one of my favorite channels on CS-tv

  • Truckla is amazing.

    • Chargela was inlove with her

    • Don't let this guy near her - he says it's just for a review but you wont get her back

    • Why doesn’t this have more likes

    • High praise from JerryRig 😮 Truckla will always have a special place in my heart. You both look great!❤

    • @@1403gavin because not that many people have clicked on the 'thump up' icon

  • The ending alone is worth the like. You are cool for sure! Good job.

  • I was just thinking the other day, "I wonder what happened to Truckla?" Great timing. Thank for the update, Simone! 🙂

  • 7:40 The moment that most people realised they had seen a contraption like this in some video clip somewhere on the web thats NSW

  • Your Truckla never ceases to amaze and inspire. Super impressive. Thanks for sharing 🙃

  • That was a great video! All three of you watching as Chargla mounted Truckla had all the vibe of a stud breeding back on the farm. my favorite wincing moment is you shaking it by it's input port as a job well done! lol🤣😂

  • Very fun.

  • Wow. Depression much? Glad you're back. I saw your truck once near Beronio lumber in the Bayshore. It was exciting.

  • Truckla is the design that Tesla should've gone with, it's so perfect. I can't believe it's been 4 years since you made it.

  • I am glad to see an update on the truck. I honestly like the looks of your truck over the "upcoming" Tesla made truck. I find that a bit odd looking (and I love odd looking vehicles like the 86-91 Taurus/Sable and the Pontiac Aztek). But I am curious about the robotic charger. What is the point? I feel this is a solution to a non existent problem. It is not that hard to charge an EV now (step 1- open vehicle charging door, step 2- remove charge cable from cradle, step 3 - plug charger into vehicle, step 4 - remove cable and replace cable on cradle and step 5 - close charger door. But it was nice to see how this thing gets developed.

  • Youre awesome! Thank you for sharing your work and progress!!!

  • I've been kind wondering, thanks for the update !

  • It's impossible to mistake just how hard Simone is struggling not to make a double entendre while Chargla spent a minute or two trying to orient itself the first time at 7:50

    • The first time is often embarassing.

    • Coupling is the correct engineering term. 😊

    • *_I love her general awkwardness, so cute!_*

    • She has come along way from saying something inappropriate and losing a sponsor lol

    • @@hoisinholdup The sponsors were inappropriate, what Simone said was fine.

  • I love open source projects. Thank you!

  • Watching Simone watch Chargela approach Truckla was like witnessing a parent watch her child take their first steps.

  • Truckla looks so amazing! and scraps's little coat is so adorable

  • Always enjoy your forward time. And just Thank You!!!!

  • Found you from Lex, hilarious personality and genius content and ideas.

  • *It's nice to see that Simone finally got Truckla a soul mate.*

  • I loved this video! Thanks for making the video update

  • How was I not already subscribed? Sending love from Texas.

  • Watching the team watching first contact while not making eye contact was EPIC. I hope off camera one of Simone's friends puts a mannequin top on it. 😆

  • That chargla design is something 😳 it's disastrously perfect

  • Simone crossing the street with the charging robot gives me "crazy bag lady with a time machine" energy

    • That phrase nearly killed me! I was drinking lemonade when I read it.

    • "What year is it? I've gone too far!"

    • Like a cross between Katarina Jones & Jennifer Goines from the 12 Monkeys TV series! And I mean that as a compliment to Simone!

    • Would you believe that wouldn't even make the top 5 weirdest things I've seen in Manhattan?

    • Is that from that movie starring Suge Smith?!? 😂

  • Love Truckla and her Little Friend. Thanks for update. [I thought Chargella was going to just be an arm, from the ceiling.] Cool!

  • You FINISHIED TRUCKLA!!!!!!! So happy to see that Truckla is still up and running.

  • OMG! You make my days happy! I love you!

  • Been waiting on a truckla update- glad everything is still going alright!!

  • This video was so hilarious! You guys watching chargela work for the first time was too funny!

  • On behalf of my daughter trying to make her way in the world... thanks. She has just decided to become a bio-engineer. Not really related to what you do except for the fact that she calls you a bad-ass and is inspired to be a bad-ass too.

    • Give your daughter a high five for me.

    • glorious as all kids are

    • @@the.bog. i can't see the problem, sounds amazing to me

    • And this is why we’re all in debt to bad ass women like Simone. Congratulations on having such a bad ass for a daughter. You must be doing something right.

    • That's the dream! Inspiring kids, particularly young women! Woot!

  • for those who wonder, many creators use a clap because when you edit it's very easy to see the spikes and know when the takes begin and where it ends

  • Marcos! Great to see one of my favorite people back with his long lost love Truckla.

  • you never disappoint. you are awesome.

  • Loved the original project and love the follow up. Yay Truckla and hello Chargela.

  • 7:24 I recognize that halting approach with many deep breaths, internal doubts squashed, and a forced reorientation of general confidence!

  • She sounds more functional than many many working pickups I know of, lol.

    • Absolutely. Modern mass market pickups are so tall it's awkward to work out of.

    • Yeah, last time I used a company pickup, it required: the keys, a screwdriver, precision 'jiggling', and the knowledge that the brakes maybe worked half of the time and were super 'squishy'.

    • @Billy Maguire 🅥 Nope. SPAM.

    • @@Tfaonc yeah, I'm 6'2 and hauling shit out of an F150 if they aren't loaded to the gills is a chore. Even I prefer shorter trucks.

    • And she has a much more sensible bed to cab ratio. Lots of modern pickups have essentially turned into unnecessarily lifted minivans with a little alibi bed.

  • Love it!!! That vehicle looks so sweet!

  • That was comedy. Thanks for the light heartedness I needed today.

  • Just awesome....you should somehow offer this conversation for all Model 3 consumers... Keep up the great work

  • Scraps is so cute! I have a tripod, too, and she's wonderful 🐕 ❤️

  • The video is very informative and interesting. Just keep up your good work. Lots of love to you from India.

  • That tailgate is seriously impressive. Well done and awesome job building a one-of-a-kind functional truck!

    • I put my hamster in a socket and slammed it against the furniture

    • Impressive, but also illegal lol. Can't have tail lights on a moving portion of the rear of the car (tailgate/trunk,etc)

    • @@mr.bennett108 I think the turn signals and break lights are still stationary on either side of that tail gate. The only lights that are attached to the tailgate would be the reverse lights. If those have to remain stationary as well, auxiliary reverse lights could be integrated into the bumper fairly easily.

    • @@mr.bennett108 "Can't have tail lights on a moving portion..." Actually you can, but they can't be the only ones. There would have to be a set on a non-moving portion. Source: look at the back of a Kia Sportage, and many other hatchback vehicles.

    • ok

  • That tailgate is amazing & I hope small truck like the ranger, maverick, & even short bed f150s, are taking notes

    • Ps I have always wanted to do this to a Subaru outback

  • Nice video simone! Very enjoyable, good to see you again, your hair is looking great!

  • Coolness points gained since the day 1, when I found your profile.

  • I still love that you took Truckla to the Cybertruck event

    • Best possible response to a canceled invitation. 👍

  • Simone: "I'm trying to score some coolness points but also play it safe" Me: That ma'am is a very smart move

  • Watching Chargla struggle to get it all the way in... we've all been there, man. On one side or the other of the situation.

  • I have been waiting for this truckla update thank you!

  • Honestly one of the greatest CS-tv videos I've ever seen. In so many ways.

  • Wow, the tailgate makes a tailgate sound when closing - satisfying. Gotta say the robot charger looks like 2 robots that fell in love; I can't be the only one who thought that!

  • I love it, an very complicated and sophisticated solution to an simple and easy task

  • That tailgate is my favorite part! It's legit

  • Thank you for this Truckla update. I have been wondering about the state of Truckla and I am glad to see her again.

    • unironically I have been thinking of truckla a lot lately

    • @@sheeperskipps Starting to sound like a fractured relationship.

    • I've been more worried about Simone.

  • Thank you for helping Dianna.

  • I love your videos! Keep them coming!

  • I remember subscribing to your channel because of the Truckla!

  • Truckla is looking great Simone! Our body shop, S&T Auto Body in the Bronx would love to help out with the bed liner and body work if you need some help!

  • well done, it came out fantastic!

  • “Simone Giertz, -A Close Friend of Truckla” 😂😂

  • Tip for the bedliner: go with a spray in! They’re (obviously) much easier to fit into a custom build like that.

  • Simone you should use rhino lining for your waterproofing for truck beds that’s kind of a standard thing. It’s like a spray on really heavy duty waterproofing, and it stands up to Canadian winters.

  • That chore coat you are wearing with the cropped zipper it’s cool

  • The little robot humping the big car just like a dog is so cute xD

  • Wow I was wondering this last week. Good timing

  • those little hip thrusts at 7:45 should be rated NC-17, that was like watching national geographic!

    • This is the comment I was looking for xD

    • hahaha gold :)

    • I felt like I shouldn't be watching..but I did.

    • This is where baby trucklas come from.

    • The crowd of people sitting quietly by watching was great. “And here we see the charger gently approaching the truckla as not so scare her off. She opens her charge port in an accepting manner. My goodness look at the aggressiveness by the charger! I didn’t think he that much spark in him.”

  • Man I would love to give this a shot. Been messing with a ton of robot guidance stuff lately.

  • This is still one of my favorite car builds ever. Close second to Tavarish’s McLaren build. Truckla looks SO GOOD!!

  • "Tail party with the friends I don't have", very relatable 😂

  • Omg Simone please turn your reaction to the window breaking as a gif. It is perfect.
