It’s what you should do anyway. Trying to convince a crazy, drugged or alzeihmer person doesn’t work. You will just confuse them and make it worse. You don’t have to lie or enable but you need to treat their reality as real because it’s 100% real to them even if it doesn’t make sense.

@Joel ALFBecause people nowadays don’t have compassion or respect for our elders. That or they don’t have a family member who has special needs or who suffers with mental health disorders or aren’t educated enough of people with mental health issues or special needs and they treat them like poorly because they think it’s funny. But this man was kind enough to listen to what she had to say and asked her if she was okay and when she gave him the side quest mission he accepted the mission and made her smile and probably made her day. She might have schizophrenia or bipolar disorder and really thought that there was an emergency.
That made her so happy. Probably first time someone has even listened to her in awhile.

I work on a psych ward and the patients like this are precious. Such good hearts. Even though the threats don't exist, they're gonna do everything they can to warn you. Bless her wherever she is.

I believe with the right medication can be minimized or totally back to normal. I've seen it with Bi -Polar. From total crazy to back to normal. Then off meds....right back to crazy, after 7 months. It took that long. 2nd time meds....Perfect Person....Now the person never misses a day of meds.

@ruvik Yeah, now that you point that out you are right to an extent. Although it’s difficult to deal with those kinds of people so I don’t blame him. Had he told her what she was experiencing wasn’t actually happening she might’ve gotten angry or made things worse. It’s hard to judge how someone like that will react. Hopefully he called for help since she seemed like she was wandering around alone.

If you do come across someone like this, make sure they are okay, don't laugh at them, they may genuinely believe that they are in danger, that can be terrifying for them. Go along with them until you can get them help if they need it. Many people who suffer with afflictions like this are lovely people.

As someone with schizophrenia, I think his response to her was really wholesome. I don’t know what’s going on in her head, but she started the conversation terrified for the people around her, ended it enthusiastic about the future and safety of those around her. Being delusional is terrifying, it is living in a nightmare you can’t wake up from, so I’m glad he gave her some hope and excitement. Something small and kind like this can really be what snaps you into getting help. EDIT: I want to thank the very kind and empathetic responses I see in these comment replies. It’s very heartwarming to see so many people be so supportive of people with severe psychosis. You’re wonderful people.
